Social media also has a bad influence if we don't use it correctly. For example, it can make us less confident sometimes. One reason is that people around us put colourful and wonderful pictures online to show off (炫耀) their best moments. Online sharing is not always safe, either. Not only your friends or family can see your news, but some strangers (陌生人) can also see it.

Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai says, "What is interesting is the power and influence of social media. We must try to use social media in a good way." After all, you decide how you use this powerful tool.

People like to get a haircut. It's a famous tradition. People believe it can keep bad luck away.

In Fujian, people eat tofu balls during the festival, and they often make tofu and vegetable balls, hoping for auspiciousness. In Zhejiang, people usually eat "Green Rice Balls" or "Qingtuan". They're green because they use green vegetables, which represent (代表) spring and the growth of the new plants.

Kids also have their own fun traditions. They make colorful dragon things or draw pictures of dragons. Some schools even hold parties where children can dress up, play games, and learn about the festival's history. It's a really fun way for kids to learn about why the dragon is so important in Chinese culture.

This festival is not just about the seasons changing, and it's also about hoping for a good and healthy year. It's a time when families share their traditions with each other, making their family ties and culture stronger.

Career Dreams and Growing Pains

Growing up is a journey with both pains and gains. I have a clear career dream and also meet some growing pains in my life.

In 2026, our school held a "Dream Career & Growth Story" sharing meeting. Three students shared their experiences of chasing career dreams and overcoming growing pains.

Zhao Yan, 14: "My dream is to be a doctor. My grandmother was seriously ill last year, and the doctors saved her life. Since then, I've wanted to help sick people. But my growing pain is that I'm afraid of seeing blood. To get over this, I started reading medical books and watching educational videos about medicine. I also volunteered at a community clinic to get used to medical scenes. Now, I'm not afraid anymore. My gain is that I've learned to be brave and responsible."

Li Ming, 13: "I want to be a teacher. I love working with children and sharing knowledge. But I'm very shy—I can't even answer questions in class. My English teacher suggested I join the debate club. At first, I was nervous, but I kept practicing. Now, I can speak in front of the whole school. I've gained confidence and communication skills. I know that being a teacher requires courage to speak, and I'm getting closer to my dream."

Chen Xi, 14: "My dream is to be a painter. I love drawing, but my parents didn't support me at first. They thought drawing would affect my study. This was my biggest growing pain. I talked to my parents seriously, showing them my paintings and promising to balance study and drawing. I made a schedule to finish homework first and then draw for 30 minutes every day. Gradually, my parents saw my progress in both study and drawing, and they started to support me. My gain is that I've learned to communicate with others and keep my promises."

All three students agreed that growing pains are necessary for growth. They encourage every teenager to hold onto their dreams and face difficulties bravely.

In the future, scientists say that many new jobs will appear while some old ones might disappear. For example, AI is quickly, so we will need people to make sure it works properly. These AI rule keepers will be to ensure the safety of smart machines.

Schools will also be different. Lessons will be designed for student. Then there will be personal teachers to help students with their own learning plans. Also, space travel might become common. We may need to show us around the moon or Mars.

In every job, people will need good communication skills. For example, giving a will be important for many jobs. Workers need to  clear information for their team members.

To prepare for these future jobs, students should learn about technology and science. it is also important for them to be creative and think seriously. They should also practice working  with others.

In the future, robots may do many boring or  jobs for us. For example, they can work in factories or help with housework. This will enable us to focus on more interesting tasks.

The best way to get ready  the future is to be open to new ideas and never stop learning.

Pangdonglai, big company in Henan Province, runs one of the best supermarkets in China. Not long ago, the boss of Pangdonglai, Yu Donglai, said the workers of Pangdonglai could take ten days' "Unhappy Leave" every year.

According to him, everyone (feel) unhappy from time to time, and that's OK. When people have this special leave, they can feel much (good). It shows that the company understands and supports its staff, and it helps them find a balance work and life.

Sometimes, people get (tire) of their jobs because they work long hours or they have trouble getting along with (other). Mr Yu doesn't want that for his workers, and he wants them (have) a healthy and relaxing life. And that's why workers of Pangdonglai have the freedom to decide when they need breaks. If they're unhappy  don't want to go to work, they can take this leave.

"How (fascinate)! I want to work at Pangdonglai, too!" someone said. "There is no need for people to get so busy (make) a living that they forget to live a life!"

Choosing a career isn't always easy, but there is still some advice to help make up your mind.

Don't let other people decide what you should do.

Sometimes adults may want you to become a doctor or a teacher. Listen to them, but remember it's your life and it's your decision.

Consider what you are good at.

It's true that things like salary (工资) are important, but don't let them lead you down the wrong path (道路). Follow your heart and your personality.  If you don't like work which needs lots of attention to detail, think long and hard before you decide to do something like applying to study engineering at university.

Your first decision isn't forever.

 They start a job, love it straight away and stick at it. But it isn't always like that. So you are allowed to change your mind. Maybe your first job doesn't turn out to be suitable (适合的) for you. Maybe the right job for you is right around the corner！

Generally, people get more satisfaction out of their career if they feel they are doing something valuable for others. It doesn't have to be charity work.  Just don't forget that job satisfaction isn't only about money.

When Juan Sala was young, he lived near a beach. During his summer holidays, he would spend all day swimming in the sea. In the evenings, he loved watching programmes about underwater adventures. He even dreamed of filming and studying fish under the sea. But he didn't start to do that until he was in his twenties. Juan described a normal workday on his 45-metre boat:

I got up before everyone else today. I had breakfast and jumped into the sea as soon as I could. I usually work underwater three or four times a day. I filmed anything that looked interesting. In the afternoon, I made notes about my work on my computer. After dinner, I was so tired that I went to bed. My friends sometimes invite me to go to a party, but I'm always asleep by the time the fun starts.

____ I have so much fun every day! My friends often say that they would like to have a job like mine. They need to pay a lot of money to spend their holidays in interesting places, but they can't see many unusual fish.

Juan is planning to do some underwater filming in the Queensmen Islands soon. "I've never visited those islands," he said. "I'd like to study the plants and fish there."

Work is a necessary and important part of our daily lives. It is not just a way to make money; it offers much more than financial (财务的) benefits. Work provides us with a strong sense of purpose and direction. It helps us feel that we are useful and valued members of society.

When we work, we learn new skills and improve our abilities. We also get to meet different people, build relationships, and make good friends. This social act makes our lives richer and more interesting. Moreover, work can bring us great happiness and deep satisfaction. For example, when we successfully finish a difficult task or project, we feel a strong sense of pride and personal achievement.

____ Doctors work hard to help sick people recover from illness. Teachers work to help students learn and grow. Cleaners work to keep our cities clean and beautiful. Every job, whether (是否) it seems big or small, can make our world a better place.

In short, work helps us grow. It gives us chances to learn, improve, and help others. And of course, it provides the money we need to support our families and meet our basic needs. So, work is meaningful in many different ways.
