One winter morning, Tapiwa Chiwewe was driving to work in Johannesburg, South Africa. He noticed a haze (薄雾) hanging over the city and it didn't take long for him to realize that it was an enormous cloud of air pollution.

At that moment, Chiwewe felt an urge to do something about it, but didn't know what. He was a computer engineer and knew little about environmental science.

He first did research on air pollution and found that it is the world's biggest environmental health risk. He decided to work on it in a cooperative (合作的) way. He talked to scientists, officials, and engineers who helped him develop a deeper understanding of the situation, as well as an idea to improve it.

Through years of work, Chiwewe and his coworkers from South Africa and China created an online air quality decision support system (系统). Based on historical and real-time data, the system can accurately (精确地) predict air pollution and air quality, which can help people make better decisions about their daily movements, as well as help officials better manage their operations.

Chiwewe learned an important lesson –"a lesson we all need to take into heart if we are to work towards a better future. Even if you're not an expert in a particular field, your outside expertise (专业知识) may hold the key to solving problems within that field," he said.

What if Chiwewe hadn't bothered to research the problem and do something about it? What if he had just hoped that someone, somewhere, was taking care of the matter?

As Chiwewe said: "Why not just go ahead and deal with the problem as well as you can, in your own way? You may be pleasantly surprised."

The song was written by two sisters from Kentucky, Mildred and Patty Smith Hill. It was first published under the title of "Good Morning to All" in 1893. It was used as a classroom greeting. Teachers sang it each day to welcome their students to the classroom.

The composer, Mildred Hill, was a concert pianist. Her sister Patty Smith Hill wrote the original lyrics (最初的歌词) for the song while she was a teacher in a kindergarten in Louisville, Kentucky, where Mildred also taught.

The Hill sisters copyrighted (取得版权) their song on October 16, 1893. However, it appeared without their agreement in Robert H. Coleman's songbook on March 4, 1924. Coleman changed part of the lyrics to say, "Happy Birthday to You", although the song still had its original title. The song was then published several times over the next ten years, often with small changes in the lyrics. In 1934, when the song was sung every night in a Broadway Musical, another Hill sister, Jessica, went to court (法院) over the copyright problem of the song. She won her case.

The Hill sisters, who devoted their lives to educating children, could never imagine that the simple little song would continue to earn about $ 2 million every year.

Lunar Calendars depend on the position of the moon. So the date of the new year changes each year, and different  (place) start the new year at different time. In China and in many other places people usually celebrate Lunar New Year in January or February.

Each year in the lunar calendar is named after an animal. The first year is the Year of the Rat. The second year is the Year of the Ox. The  (three) year is the Year of the Tiger, then the Year of the Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. After 12 years, the animals repeat. This means that  the Year of the Pig, it's the Year of the Rat again. And every animal has certain meanings.  example, the rabbit is kind and polite. So if you were  (bear) in the Year of the Rabbit, you are probably kind and polite! Chinese people love the idea  it's only people's good wishes and it may not be true.

On New Year's Eve, Chinese people lay the table and have a big meal with families. Chinese people also set off firecrackers. They make a loud noise to drive away the monster "nian". In Korea, families have the tradition of playing  (tradition) board games together. During Lunar New Year, children give their parents and grandparents good wishes for the new year.

Older members of the family give  (child) money, usually in small packets (小包). These packets are red in China and Vietnam, because red is a lucky color.

People celebrate Lunar New Year  many different ways, but all the celebrations are about  (wish) everyone good things.

One beautiful winter morning, a young boy stepped into a shop that had a public telephone. He found a wooden box, (爬) on top, and reached for the phone buttons to dial numbers. He asked a lady on the phone, "Madam, would you give me a  (机会) to cut the lawn of your garden?"

To the store owner's surprise, the boy  (有礼貌地) refused him. "No, thanks, but I already have a job."

"Weren't you just asking for a job from the lady on the phone?" asked the store owner.

The little boy  (解释), "No, sir. I was just checking how well I'm doing at the job I already have, I'm the one working for the lady I talked to."
