1、 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出最佳选项。
For thousands of years, the snow leopard (豹) was the king of the mountains. According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), there are now under 7,000 snow leopards living in the wild. Farmers often kill snow leopards because they eat their animals. The WWF is working with these farmers to educate them about these beautiful animals and is offering them money for any animals they lose to the snow leopard. Snow leopards live in cold, snowy mountains and as the climate changes, their natural habitat is disappearing. These unbelievable cats need protecting now!
However, for some animals, it seems like it's almost too late. Northern white rhinos (犀牛), for example, are very few in number and for years people killed them for their horns (角). The last male, called Sudan, died in March 2018.Now there are only two northern white rhinos left in the world and they are both female. They are a mother and daughter called Najin and Fatu. Unfortunately, they can't have any baby rhinos. However, scientists may have the answer. In August 2019, a team of scientists collected ten of the northern white rhinos' eggs to try to save this animal. They kept the eggs at a very low temperature in a frozen zoo. In the future, they are going to use them to try to save the northern white rhino.
Frozen zoos aren't a new idea. In 1972, San Diego Zoo began the first one and there are now 12 of them around the world. In the UK, the University of Nottingham started a frozen zoo in 2004 and they now have over 700 DNA samples (样本). In 2004, the University of Nottingham also set up the Frozen Ark Project so that all the frozen zoos can share their work. Together they are going to help more than 5,000 kinds of animals!

Matilda stood against the oak tree, deep in thought. She was busy watching a 1 up in the sky. Then she wrote in her notebook:
Bluebird, bluebird
Up in the sky
Where are you going?
Where do you fly?
Matilda loved writing poems. She wrote about no matter 2 she was thinking. Once she wrote about her brother crying. She even wrote a poem about the back door banging (撞击) in a storm. 3 Matilda never shared her poems with anyone. It was her secret. She was afraid her friends would laugh at her. Her 4 was like her private museum of poems that only she could visit.
One day, Matilda was walking to math class when she heard a voice 5 her. "Hey, Matilda!" called out her friend Liz. "I think you 6 something."
Matilda turned around. She started to shake. Liz stood 7 Matilda's notebook. Not only that, but Liz was actually reading the poem!
"Give me that!" shouted Matilda, reaching out. "That's 8 ! Stop reading it!"
"But I thought it was…" began Liz.
"I don't care!" said Matilda, hurried off 9 .
The next day, Matilda sat alone in the cafeteria (食堂), eating her sandwich. Then she looked up and saw Liz 10 . Her friends Alice and Juan were with Liz, too. Matilda's heart dropped.
"Hi, Matilda," said Liz. "I told Alice and Juan about your 11 ."
"Oh, really?" said Matilda, trying to be calm. "That's nice."
"Your poem is cool," said Alice. "and Liz and I also like writing poems."
Matilda was 12 . Matilda put down her sandwich. "Wait a second," she said slowly. "You write poems, too? Can I read some of them?"
"13 ," said Liz.
"I like to draw. Maybe I could draw pictures for your poems." said Juan.
The next day, the four friends met at Liz's house to read one another's poems. While they read, 14 drew pictures. Writing poems had always been Matilda's special secret. "Maybe some secrets should be15 with everyone," Matilda thought.

You have many hobbies such as doing sports, watching movies and so on. You also have to keep up with schoolwork at school. Is it difficult for you to arrange (安排) your time?
Do the things in order of importance. Which tasks are important or urgent? Do you have to finish the tasks before a certain time? Find the most important task and do the things according to the order one by one. In this way, you can deal with the most important first.
Doing several things at the same time is a good skill, but it may take longer for you to finish one task and the result could be worse. Pay your attention to one thing at a time and do it well. Then you will feel good about your work and get the best result!
Stay away from electronic products when you are studying. Teenagers waste too much time on these digital devices than they do in real tasks. The games and activities can bring bad influence to your schoolwork.
Don't be afraid to say NO to others. You don't have to be available for others all the time. Sometimes you need to focus, but your friends want to ask you to hang out. Just let them know you are busy. You need to focus on your own task. Get started right away for what you want.
Once you start and keep on, things can be very different. Just learn skills, get as much knowledge as you can and enrich your life experience.

7、 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出最佳选项。
Have you heard that many of the migrating (迁徙) animals are in danger? A report has found that one fifth of the world's migrating animals are at risk of dying out. They often move from place to place because they might be looking for food, better weather, or a friend. This includes big animals like whales and elephants, and small animals like turtles, fish, and birds.
The report was by the United Nations (UN), a group of 193 countries that work together on problems facing people. The recent report looked at the health of these protected animals and found that the number of them is getting smaller, and some of them are at risk of disappearing forever.
Migrating animals face many dangers, because they often move from one place to another. For example, more than 1.5 million wildebeest (a wild African animal) travel through Tanzania and Kenya to follow the rain each year, crossing rivers where hungry Nile crocodiles (鳄鱼) live. However, the biggest danger to migrating animals is people, such as hunting, fishing and building things that destroy their homes.
It's hard to protect migrating animals because of how far they travel. Monarch butterflies travel 3,000 miles every autumn from north-eastern North America to Mexico. But the report suggests that countries create safe areas of land to help animals. It also suggests that governments do more to fix climate (气候) change, as well as noise, light and plastic pollution.
The report showed projects that have helped migrating animals. In the South Atlantic Ocean, rules that stopped the hunting of humpback whales (座头鲸) helped make their numbers go from 450 in the 1950s to more than 25,000 today. Inger Andersen from the UN Environment Programme said, "There is hope. Humans can still do even more to protect migrating animals."
(1)、What percent of migrating animals in the world are in danger?A、10%. B、20%. C、50%. D、75%.(2)、What is the biggest danger to migrating animals according to the text?A、Moving from place to place. B、Natural enemies. C、Human activities. D、Climate change.(3)、How does the writer describe the advantages of the project in the last paragraph?A、By telling stories. B、By asking questions. C、By explaining reasons. D、By listing numbers.(4)、What is the purpose of the text?A、To introduce some kinds of migrating animals. B、To call on people to protect migrating animals. 14、 阅读下面材料,从方框中所给的A-E五个选项中选出正确选项(其中一项是多余选项),将其序号填入第小题,并回答小题。
Studies show that children who eat breakfast do better in school. Whether you work at home or at the office, it is not a good idea to have no breakfast.
If we have no breakfast, we are likely to become tired when our brains and bodies run low on fuel (能量). By mid-morning, a lot of us hold a cup of coffee or eat a candy to wake up again. But by lunch time we are hungry. Eating a good breakfast sets the base for the rest of the day.
Having no breakfast is a popular way to lose weight, but not a smart one. Many people believe that they will lose weight if they have no meals, but that just isn't true; the body expects to be filled with fuel a few times a day, starting with a healthy breakfast.
It should have some protein (蛋白质) and some fiber (纤维). Protein can come from low fat meats, eggs, or beans. Fiber can be found in whole vegetables and fruits. A good example of a healthy breakfast might be something simple like a hard boiled egg, an orange, and a bowl of whole grain cereal with low fat milk.
A. What is a healthy breakfast made up?
B. It is for sure that adults will feel better and do better at work as well.
C. This might work for a few minutes.
D. In fact, people who eat breakfast are more likely to keep a healthy weight.
E. They will keep you feeling full until lunch time.
Do you think eating a healthy breakfast is important? Why? (答案不少于5词)

15、 阅读下面短文, 从题中所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
What does the word "pirate" mean to you? You may imagine a person on a boat, stealing things as they go. However, it also means a person who wrongfully copies music, films, computer programs and so on. Piracy (盗版) is against the law because it breaks intellectual property (IP, 知识产权) laws.
What is IP?
IP could be anything created by the mind, such as inventions, works of art and designs used in trade. Healthy sales depend on good, safe and new products and services. All of these depend on IP being respected.
Why is IP important?
IP rights protect creativity. Stepping up the protection of IP encourages creativity by creating a safe environment for new inventions, ideas and growth and where hard work is honored.
IP is protected through patents (专利), copyrights (版权) and trademarks. Patents cover inventions such as machines and new products, while copyrights protect creative works like books, articles, songs, photographs and many other works. Finally, trademarks can be given for words, phrases or designs that help people recognize products, such as brand names and logos like Coca-Cola.
How does IP influence us?
IP is everywhere, whether it's your favorite brand of milk, the shoes you wear, the car you drive, or even the new kind of flowers you grow. Take the newspaper you are reading as an example: you can share the articles that you are interested in with your friends for free, but you can't make a copy and sell it. To protect the maker's IP rights and stay out of trouble, check the picture below.
(1)、Why does the writer ask the question in Paragraph 1?A、To explain IP laws B、To lead into the topic IP C、To show different opinions of IP D、To compare the lawful and unlawful records(2)、How should people protect creative books?A、Through copyrights. B、Through patents. C、Through trademarks. D、Through giving prizes.(3)、Which of the following behavior break the IP law?A、You share the articles with friends for free. I was not surprised to hear that someone made fun of my look at my friend's birthday party. I laughed along, silently agreeing that I was not so good-looking. It was so embarrassing.
Over the next months, I became increasingly self-critical (自我批判), at first only of my looks and then of almost everything else. As I kept focusing on my looks, I became unable to put myself into my schoolwork.
When a family friend got plastic surgery (整形手术), I told my parents that I wanted to do it too. A nose job seemed like the answer to everything. To my surprise, my parents agreed and even thought of the surgery as a way to treat my snoring (打鼾).
Finally, the day arrived. I went to the hospital with my mother. In her mind, the surgery was small—she saw it as something quick and easy. But to me, it was more like a life-changing event.
Though I felt fine for the first few hours after I returned home, finally a burning pain was in my head. When I finally got the bandage removed, I cried the whole way home. I felt worse. Over the weeks, I began to feel foolish. I couldn't believe that I'd gone through all this just because some classmates had laughed at me.
It wasn't until I actually had the surgery that I realized that having a prettier nose wouldn't make me feel any better about myself. Now I realize that my self-worth is in many more valuable things: my sense of humor and the power of my mind. You might think all you need is a nose job to be beautiful, but what I want to tell you is that you don't need others to think you're beautiful to be worth something.
(1)、Why did the writer consider having surgery on her nose?A、To stay in style. B、To make parents pleased. C、To fit in with her friends. D、To solve her snoring problem.(2)、How did the writer's parents react when she mentioned plastic surgery?A、They are strongly against it. B、They reached an agreement with the writer. C、They suggested she focus on her studies instead. D、They worried it might cause more health problems.(3)、How did the writer feel after having the nose job?A、Worried but hopeful. B、Fine and confident. C、Surprised but doubtful. D、Upset and regretful.(4)、What is the writer trying to tell us through her story?A、Appearance plays a role in shaping our self-worth. B、One should know their strong points and weak ones. C、Self-worth comes from inside rather than appearance. D、Others' opinions about one's appearance are important. -

If you think running a marathon (马拉松) is difficult enough, you'd be amazed at the brave runners who complete the North Pole Marathon. Wearing warm clothes, they have to deal with heavy snow and temperatures of -30℃ to complete the 49-kilometre race. Although marathons take place all over the world, this special marathon is the only one that's completely on "water". For clear reasons, it can only be held during winter. That is the only time when the whole course (赛道) becomes ice, giving the hopeful runners the best chance of finishing the race.
Since the event started in 2003, 480 people from around the world have successfully completed the race. Stefanie Pettersson from Brazil is one of the youngest people to achieve this. She was just 16 years and two weeks old on the day of the race. Her dad was also one of the competitors. An experienced runner, Anders Pettersson encouraged Stefanie not to give up when she felt too cold or exhausted to continue. Another competitor who ran with Stefanie and Anders was Ted Jackson from the UK. He took up running when his father and brother developed health problems. He was scared the same thing might happen to him. To avoid that situation, he decided to get really fit.
Many of those who run the North Pole Marathon are trying to raise money for different charities (慈善机构). They collect money from friends and family by advertising what they plan to do. This could be on the internet. They are grateful for everything they receive because the cost of running the marathon is £16,000. This does, however, include all flights, hotels and medical support.
(1)、What is special about the North Pole Marathon?A、It is held on the ice. B、It is shorter than normal. C、It is easy to finish. D、It is completed in summer.(2)、What does the underlined word "exhausted" in paragraph 2 mean?A、Disappointed. B、Worried. C、Rather bored. When you make a mistake or say something wrong, it's easy to be hard on yourself. Then stress is caused. Feelings of anger, disappointment and sadness come along. That's why such stress needs to be dealt with.
Max, a 14-year-old boy, used to be very competitive and always felt stressed. Now he is learning to give himself care and kindness. When he doesn't win or get the top marks, he talks to himself, "It's OK not to be perfect." He knows he always does his best and that is enough.
What Max does is called self-compassion(自我和解). With self-compassion, you treat yourself kindly like a friend. It allows you to forgive(原谅)yourself when you mess up or fail. However, some disagree. They argue that self-compassion leads people to be less active. But Breines and Chen's study had a different result. They gave students a difficult word test. The students were given the chance to study for a second test. They found those who were compassionate toward their failure spent more time preparing.
