The same as Chinese schools, American schools begin in September after the long summer vacation. There are two terms in a school year. The first one is from September to January and the second is from February to June.

Most American children begin to go to school when they are five years old. They spend twelve years in primary school and middle school. Most students are seventeen years old when they finish middle school. Middle school students have only four or five subjects each term, such as English, Maths and Science. The students go to classes happily every day. It is for sure that the students have homework to think about every day. To finish homework, they need to go to the library.

There are many activities after school. Some are about sports like swimming, ball games and running. Some are about music like singing. Students have a good time during these after-school activities.

My family and I often go to Beijing for  trip. We visit many interesting  (place). Peking University is  (I) favourite.

Peking University is one of the  (good) universities in China. We walk into the school from the east gate. There  (be) many old buildings at the university. The Boya Pagoda is an ancient Chinese building. Everyone  (think) it's perfect to enjoy it during festivals such as the Mid-Autumn Festival or the Lantern Festival.

The Weiming Lake (湖) is beautiful and makes all of  (we) relaxed. The lake is a popular place at the university. The word "weiming" means "without being named" in Chinese. Many students like  (walk) around the lake. During winter, the lake is frozen (结冰的). Students can walk or skate  the frozen lake.

As we walk around the school, we see some modern teaching buildings and dorms. There are also museums at the university. We  (real) enjoy the beautiful campus and rich history of Peking University.

Every school has its rules. There are some rules in Singapore's schools too. 

Sing the national anthem (国歌). Students and teachers must sing the national anthem on the morning of every school day.

Wear school uniforms. Students should wear school uniforms at school. 

Be on time. Students should get to school on time every school day. In the morning, students should get to school by 7:15 a.m.  But on Wednesdays, they do sports, so they can get to school by 1:15 p.m.

Leave school with parents. If someone needs to leave school, the parents must come to school to pick up their children.

Visit the school with permission (允许). Visitors to the school should report to the General Office first. They can't get into the school without permission.

 Some of the rules are the same. But some are different. What about the rules in your school?

I'm Li Hui. I'm 13 and I 1 at Red Star Middle School. Here is the layout (布局) of my school.

After you walk into the school, you can 2 a classroom building. There are some 3 things in these classrooms. For example (例如), every classroom has a 4 blackboard. Teachers can write on it with a special pen. There is also a 5 in every classroom. Students can take books from the bookcase to read.

Our school sports field is behind the classroom building. It is a  6 open space. Students have PE classes and sports meetings there.

The new sports center (中心) is on the right of the sports field. It is a  7 . building with a gym and some other new sports facilities (设施). There's also a big 8 . Students can see the information about 9 sports games. The center is beautiful  10 many students love to play sports there. 

11 school library is in front of the sports center. It is a quiet place for students to 12 and study. The building on the left of the classroom building is the art and music hall. It has classrooms  13 art and music classes. There are also teachers'  14 in this building. They work there. Our school 15  hall is beside the art and music hall. It is a clean place. Students have lunch there.
