When a group of people work together for a same goal, they make up a team. At this time, team spirit is the  important. 

In 1957, a team of eighteen people spent the  winter at the South Pole（南极）. There they studied the secrets of the earth. In this very cold place, there are only two ——summer and winter. In winter, the sun never  and there is no light at all. You can only work in dark. What's more, the weather was the worst of a year. It was really cold. So these eighteen men had to face both the darkness the bad weather. 

 they lived very hard there, these people tried their best to face it. They up a" family" and all the members took turns to do things for their daily life. Everybody had his own work  . They trained one person as a doctor. And another one learned  to cook. During the six-month-long winter, they worked together as one. In the end, they all finished their work, and came back home  and happily. What do you think of their team work?

Scientists are making an effort to find out how our feelings are affected. How you feel is decided by many things, such as your personality（性格）and the actions of others. You may be surprised to know the weather can also affect your feelings. 

People often say they feel good when it's sunny and sad when it's cloudy. In fact, sunlight makes us feel happy. When sunlight hits our skin（皮肤）, our bodies produce vitamin D（维生素D）. Vitamin D helps our bodies make a special chemical（化学品）which affects our brains and makes us happy. For example, the winter in Sweden and Norway is long and dark with little sunlight, so many people there often feel sad. To help the people in these countries feel happier, special" sunrooms" are built for people to get "sunlight" for an hour or two!

The weather can affect our feelings in other ways as well. Rain can make people angry because being wet makes people unhappy. In the same way, hot weather can make people angry because people don't feel comfortable when feeling hot. As you can see, the weather can influence the chemicals which control our brains. Through these ways, the weather can affect our feelings. Sadly, while the weather can change us, we cannot change the weather. 

Kids have invented all kinds of things that we use in our everyday lives, including earmuffs（护耳）, the popsicle（冰棒）, the trampoline（蹦床）and Braille（盲文）! One of the earliest kid inventors was Benjamin Franklin. He invented swim flippers（游泳蛙鞋）at the age of twelve. 

About 500. 000 kids invent things each year. Their inventions help make our lives easier and more interesting!

Why is it celebrated?

To acknowledge（感谢）past and present achievements of kid inventors. To encourage the creativity of future kid inventors. 

How can you celebrate it?

Read about it. Write about it. Start a young inventors' club. Enter a contest. Or, design your own invention!

Last week, my good friend Katie told me that her mom kept asking why she didn't join the English club, what her friends were doing and so on. Katie said, "It's crazy. Sometimes it seems that she doesn't  1 me. " In fact, most of us may experience this like Katie. 

If you don't talk much, parents will ask you questions to  2 what happened in your day. It seems that your mom is prying into（窥探）your  3 , but she just wants to know more about your. She probably is just trying to keep the relationship  4 .
