Welcome to Southwark School! When you go to a new school, it can be difficult for you to be happy. You worry about your subjects.  You worry that no one can like you. But do not worry too much. Most of the time some people are friendly and some people are not.  These people often like you too. 

 Here's what one student says, "My name is Helen. Amy and Sally are my best friends. Amy is my friend on my first day at school.  We're 14 now! I like her because she is happy all the time and very friendly. Sally is quiet. However, she is just as good a friend as Amy. They are interested in the same things as me, and we listen to each other's problems. Amy likes to talk and Sally likes to listen.  So we help each other with our homework too！"

Most children feel that the most important people in their lives are their friends. They believe that their families don't understand them as well as their friends do. In big families, you can often see brothers and sisters fight(打架) with each other, and then they can only go to their friends for some ideas. 

It is very important for children to have one good friend or some friends. When they are not with their friends, they usually talk with them on the phone. This communication is very important in children's growing up, because friends can share important things with each other and talk about their problems. These things are difficult to say to their families. 

However, parents often try to choose(选择) their children's friends for them. Some parents may even stop their children from meeting their good friends. Do you think of these questions?

Bob likes a bike very much and wants to buy it. He often watches it on TV and in newspapers. "I have to make some money for it，" he says. And he has a good idea. 

On Saturday, Bob goes door to door and asks people if they need dog walking. His friend Jack comes and wants to help him. But Bob says, "I can do it. I need to make money for my new bike. "

Bob is so moved. He understands the meaning(意义) of true friends. 

Harry is one of my best friends. He works really hard and is good at all his 1 . Everybody in our class likes him. 

However, things were different after Allen 2 to our class. Allen was less hard­working than Harry. He always got worse(更糟) grades than Harry did. But he had the 3 hobby as Harry. Both of them liked tennis. 4 they often played together and 5 their feelings with each other.

Different kinds of weather make people feel different. They influence (影响) health, IQ (智力) and feelings (心情). 

In the southern part of the United States, it is very hot at sometime and very cold at other time. People in those places often catch a cold when the weather changes in February or March. 

The weather can also influence IQ. For example, a very strong wind can help people have higher IQ. However, very hot weather can make it lower. Students in many schools of the United States often get lower scores (分数) in exams in the hot months of the year (July and August). 

Weather also has a strong influence on people's feelings. Winter may be a bad time for thin people. They usually feel cold and unhappy during these months. But fat people may have a hard time in hot summer. 

Do you feel like you have a cold? Do you think you are not smart? Do you feel sad today? It may be the weather's problem. 

Guangzhou is a beautiful city in the south of China. 

 1 spring comes, the weather becomes warm in Guangzhou. It is often 2 and cloudy. In March and April, there is 3 rain lasting for a long time. During this time, tourists should bring umbrellas with 4 . 

Summer lasts from May to September in Guangzhou. It is quite long and hot. The hottest months 5 July and August. It is fun to take part in water activities 6 hot weather. During summer, bad weather such as thunderstorms(暴风雨) and typhoons(台风) 7 very often. So it's important 8 raincoats and umbrellas. 

Autumn in Guangzhou is short. 9 lasts from October to early December. The weather is sunny and cool 10 little rain. Many tourists from 11 places go to Guangzhou for travel because it's the best season of the year. 

Winter lasts from December to early March. It is a little cold, 12 it seldom snows. January is the coldest month of Guangzhou, with 13 temperature from 9℃ to 17℃. Different from cities in North China, Guangzhou 14 a world of flowers in January. You  15  see flower markets here and there. 

The four seasons in Beijing are different. In spring, everything turns green. The wind is warm. It doesn't rain a lot. Sometimes it's very d. Summer is very hot. In the afternoon, the cool wind blows gently. We take packets of food to the park to have a p. It rains a lot. You can see some puddles in the street. Autumn is beautiful. The leaves (树叶)tum brown and fall from the trees. I like walking in the street and k the leaves. Do you like winter? It is s in Beijing. I can make snowmen and make f in the snow. 

There are four seasons in China. They are spring，summer autumn winter. Of all the seasons， I like winter best. Do you know why？

Winter is very cold and in the northern part of China. I usually read books at home at winter nights. This helps me get grades in the exams. When it snows，we have a lot of  things to do outside. For example，we often make snowmen snow，carrots， branches and other things.   

It's not difficult them. They always look  and we always feel happy. We also have snowball fights. We  small snowballs to each other. It's fun. 

During winter holidays， my family members get together and get ready for the new year. My mother cooks different  for us. They are delicious.
