We all want to protect our environment, but most of us are too busy or too lazy  make big changes that will improve our lifestyle and save the environment. 

Here are some suggestions for  (protect) our environment. 

Use compact fluorescent light bulbs (紧凑型灯泡). It's true that these bulbs are more expensive, but they last much  (long) and they can save energy. So in the long term your electricity bill would be  (reduce). 

Donate. You have lots of clothes or things you want to throw away. If they are still valuable, give them to someone who  (need) them. You may also choose to give them to organizations. These organizations may sell them and collect a little money. Not only will you protect the environment, but you'll also help people  need. 

Turn off your devices (设备). When you don't use a house device, turn it off. For example, if you don't watch TV, turn it off. Turn off the light when you leave a room. It's  easy habit to keep and you can save energy and money. 

Walk or ride bikes. Driving is one of the biggest  (cause) of pollution. If you want to use your car, ask   (you) the following question: Do I really need my car? Walk or use your bike if the journey is short. 

Rainwater. Rainwater is very  (use) in our daily life, so try to hold it when it rains. This water can be used for different purposes.

The Earth is about 4,600 million years old. People live on the Earth for only 35,000 years. But we change the Earth in many ways. Many things we do are good, but some are not good for the Earth.

Water pollution

A lot of people, birds and fish die each day because of water pollution. Factories pollute the water. As a result, the water in many rivers and lakes is very dirty now.

Air pollution

In big cities, factories, cars and buses are the main causes (原因) of air pollution. Many people in cities now have health problems. For example, Mexico used to be a beautiful city and was a good place for people to live, but today there is lots of PM2.5 in the air. And many people get ill because of the polluted air.

Soil (土壤) pollution

In order to have a better harvest (收获), some farmers use chemicals (化学物质) in their fields. That's bad for the soil.

Hope for the future

These problems are very bad for our future, so all of us should do something to protect the environment. If we can stop pollution, the Earth will become more and more beautiful.

People can change (改变) the earth. But some changes can harm the planet. When bad things are put into the land, air or water, the earth is polluted. Pollution is dangerous for plants, animals and people. 

People can help make less pollution. Rubbish is a big part of pollution. When people pick up the rubbish, they are helping to stop pollution. 

It is hard to get rid of all the rubbish we make. Making less rubbish is the first step. Less rubbish means less pollution. 

Another way to help make less pollution is to reuse things many times. Instead of using a new lunch bag every day, we could use the same lunch box many times. This makes less rubbish. 

To recycle (循环利用) means to change something so it can be used again. We make less rubbish when we recycle. Lots of things can be recycled. Can you think of things to recycle?

The panda is one of the rarest (珍稀) animals. It is the favourite of people all over the world.

Many people think pandas are cute. In fact, they are also clever! The IQ of pandas is nearly the same as that of the children at the age of eight. Pandas are shy and friendly. They like playing with their family and friends.

Pandas are good at climbing, and they are great climbers. They can also swim very well. But pandas can not see well in the dark bamboo forests. The black and white fur (毛) may help pandas a lot. Their enemies (敌人) may not find them easily in the dark bamboo forests.

Pandas love bamboo very much. 99% of the panda's food is bamboo. They eat about 10 to 20 kilos of bamboo a day. That's as heavy as 100 bowls of rice! To stay healthy, they have to eat a lot and eat fast. They spend (花费) 50%—60% of the time a day in eating, and they keep eating 2—3 hours each time. The pandas are a kind of bear. Most bears eat much to keep fat for the winter sleep, but pandas don't. Pandas in the forest have to keep eating bamboo all year round.

What are plants? Plants are trees, bushes (灌木), flowers and grass. Trees are tall. Bushes are short. Grass is green. Flowers are colorful.

A plant needs many things to help it grow (生长). It needs sunlight, water, soil and air. Sunlight comes from the sun. It gives a plant energy (能量). A plant needs water to grow. Water helps carry (运送) food from the soil to all its parts (部分). As for soil, it has food for plants to grow big and strong. We cannot see air, but it is everywhere. And it helps the plant breathe (呼吸).

Do you know how to grow a plant? Let's learn something about it. First, put seeds in soil. Then, water the seed. After a few days, there will be roots and a seeding. After some weeks, we can see stems and big leaves. After some months, when the plant grows up, we can see its flowers and fruits.
