On April 19, there was a half marathon (马拉松) in Beijing, China. About 12, 000 runners took part in it. 21 man-like robots also joined the same race. It was the first race of its kind.
There were robot races in the past, but not this long. A half marathon is 21 km long. It is a good way to see how the robots worked under real-life conditions(条件). So the goal of the race wasn't to win, it was to finish. And six of the robots met that goal.
The robots in the race were in different sizes. The largest, called "Tiangong Ultra" was 180 cm tall. The smallest, called "Little Giant" was just 75 cm tall. To join the race, the robots had to run on two feet, like humans.
As with human runners, low (低) energy was a problem for the robots, too. Tiangong fell once because of a low energy. The same thing happened to other robots, too.
The biggest problem was probably overheating. It was cool in the morning, but as the temperature climbed, workers had to help cool the robots. Once, Little Giant had smoke coming out of its head.
The first robot to run across the finish line was Tiangong. It finished the race in 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 42 seconds. That was far behind most human runners. But the race was great, even for the robots who didn't finish. They will help robot scientists make better human-like robots in the future.

6、Years ago, I lived in a building in a large city. The building next door was only a few feet away from mine. There was a woman who lived there, whom I had never met, yet I could see her seated by her window each afternoon, sewing (做针线活) or reading.
After several months had gone by, I began to notice that her window was dirty. Everything was unclear through the dirty window. I would say to myself, "I wonder why that woman doesn't wash her window. It really looks terrible."
One bright morning I decided to clean my flat, including washing the window on the inside. Her window was clean! Then I suddenly realized I had been criticizing (批评) her dirty window, but all the time I was watching hers through my own dirty window.
That was quite an important lesson for me. How often had I looked at and criticized others through the dirty window of my heart, through my own shortcomings (缺点)?

Zihan
Dear Zihan,
That's a very understandable feeling. When you are studying a different language. It is necessary to have to speak in front of people. Doing both of these can be really hard!
As for what you should do well, practice makes perfect. This goes for both speaking a different language and speaking in public. Practice your English whenever and wherever you can. Also, you could practice in front of a mirror to work on your public speaking.
Also, don't be afraid of people laughing at you. Put the idea out of your mind. If they laugh at you while you're doing your best, then they are foolish, not you. We all make mistakes. Try not to be afraid of making a few mistakes in front of people. Be proud of yourself and don't give up!

When you visit a Chinese family, the host usually makes tea for you. Then he will serve you snacks like biscuits or candy. Someone in the family will also chat with you, never letting you feel lonely.
At the same time, other family members will prepare a meal for you. Chinese people treat their guests with a big meal. They always present more food than the guest can eat.
