The Australian government has given the World Heritage Committee the most recent information on the measures it has taken to protect the Great Barrier Reef from human -made climate change.

Last June, the World Heritage Committee chose not to list the Reef as "in danger", but asked Australia to give an update on its preservation measures by February 

1.In the report, the government has shown how its policies and scientific research are helping to protect the heritage-listed reef. Improving water quality, tough new fishing restrictions and unusual experiments in "cloud brightening" are all listed in the report.

The government had invested $1.2 billion in the Reef, while the Queensland government had invested more than $1 billion since 2015."The Great Barrier Reef is the best managed reef in the world and the report shows the significant action we are taking to protect this important natural wonder," said Senator Nita Green.

Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek has unveiled a new strategy to protect and restore the wetland areas of the Reef, which she said had decreased by over 50 per cent since European settlement.

Water quality improvements were a focus in the government's report, after the Committee said they were concerned that it was taking too long to meet targets. 140,000 tons of sediment（沉积物）had been prevented from entering the Reef over the past decade. Gillnet （刺网）fishing was being gradually stopped using, with half the previously allowed number of licenses issued this month. Conservationists welcomed the ban on gillnets, but others warned the move could ruin the fishing industry.

These projects have been exploring whether it is possible to provide shade for coral reefs by artificially increasing the reflectiveness of clouds, or creating fogs to stop sunlight reaching below the sea surface.

Innovation in sustainable transport has an exciting first: a group of electric public transportation buses in Israel is the first in the world to be powered by a commercial wireless charging terminal（终端）, representing a milestone in sustainable travel.

An electric vehicle（EV）is defined as a vehicle that can be powered by an electric motor drawing electricity from a battery and that is capable of being charged from an external source. As Bus News reports, the site in Israel uses fixed wireless charging for parked urban electric buses, both at night and during the day, while the buses are parked at the public bus terminal.

Electreon, the company with the advanced wireless charging technology, is partnering with the Electra Afikim Company, a major Israeli transportation operator to deliver wireless EV bus charging in the center of Israel. As well as technology offer, Electre on manages the various construction stages, taking in electric infrastructure（基础设施）and civil engineering works.

Beyond the obvious appeal of the convenience that wireless EV charging offers, are a number of additional benefits that together seem likely to boost the greener transport that EVs offer. As CEO of Electreon, Oren Ezer, tells NoCamels, "We are promoting green public transportation in the city with the aim of reducing air pollution and continuing to improve the quality of life of the residents and the environment."

Additionally, wireless charging is likely to encourage EV use as it cuts charging downtime（停机时间）, and range（续航里程）anxiety. It also means that battery sizes can be reduced, making vehicles more sustainable, less costly, and lighter, with more space for passengers or goods. Another benefit is that multiple vehicles can charge at the same time from the same system without placing extra pressure on the electric grid（电网）. The technique's underground installation（安装）also means that there are no ugly visual impacts on the landscape.

Caitlin Clark now stands alone in the history of American collegiate（大学的）basketball. The Iowa Hawkey e player has now scored more points than any other player, male or female.

Pete Maravich, a good scorer for Louisiana State University（LSU）in the late 1960s, owned the record, having scored 3,667 point s in three seasons at LSU. With a free throw（罚球）near the end of the first half of her team's last regular-season game, against Ohio State, Clark got a point total of 3,668.

Clark also passed the 1,000 assist（助攻）marks this year; she is only the sixth women's player in NCAA history to do so. Clark technically will play again for Iowa in 2025.She has already declared her intention to go professional and enter the Women's National Basketball Association（WNBA）. She is expected to be the No. 1 pick.

There was once a boy called Mario who loved to have loads of friends. He showed off a lot, always talking about how many friends he had at school, and how he was so friendly with everyone else.

Jiang Ping, a 17-year-old student, recently amazed millions of people worldwide. A student from the vocational（职业的） school entered the final s of the 2024 Alibaba Global Mathematics Competition for  first time. She managed to reach the finals,  a high score of 93 out of 120. The majority of the finalists are from top  （university） such as Peking University, Tsinghua University, MIT（麻省理工）, and Princeton University.

Reasons Why Change Is Good for You

We all know that change is hard because your brain is used to doing the same thing again and again. We also know how challenging it can be to go through change.  Here are four reasons why change is good for you:

◆You get to experience more.

 When you look back on your life, all of the really amazing things are because of anew experience you had. All of those vacations you took and all of the people you have met have taught you more than you ever learned in school. These experiences now make up who you are today.

Life in the comfort zone is easy. You simply follow a routine and you can predict the results. Outside of the comfort zone, your assumptions are questioned. The idea of doing the same thing over and over without question is discouraged.

◆You'll be more flexible and adaptable.

Without doubt, change makes you more flexible and adaptable. You learn to deal with things in a way that seems foreign but acceptable and achievable.  You begin to thrive（茁壮成长） in new situations because you have proven to yourself that you can, not only handle change, but FLOURISH.

◆You have more fun.

When you are open to change, you are open to saying YES to more.  You have the opportunity to meet more people too. When you add all of these things together, you are going to have a more colorful life and you'll have a ton of fun figuring it all out along the way — there's no doubt about it.

There are always two sides to a story. Unfortunately, when it comes to the history of Thanksgiving, generations of Americans have been taught a one-sided history in homes and schools.

The mainstream cultural and historical story has been told by the white settlers（殖民者） who landed near Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts in 1620. In this version（版本） of the Thanksgiving story, the holiday celebrates the peaceful, friendly meeting of English settlers and the Wampanoag tribe（部落） for three days of feasting and thanksgiving in 1621.

This story paints a picture of courageous settlers braving the dangers of the New World and with the help of some friendly natives, finding a way to make a new life for themselves. Very few teachers get a chance to tell students about the mass killing of native tribes that took place in the years that followed.

For many Native Americans, Thanksgiving is a day of mourning（哀悼） and protest. Organised by the United American Indians of New England in1970, the fourth Thursday in November （Thanksgiving） was recognised as the NationalDay of Mourning for Native Americans.

While some Native Americans have chosen to    reject the Thanksgiving holiday completely, many welcome the positive messages of the holiday without consideration of its origin. This is because the idea of giving thanks is central to Native Americans' culture, and in this way, Thanksgiving is simply a chance to appreciate the good things of life, like family, community, and the riches of the land.

Steven Peters, a Wampanoag tribe spokesman, was asked about his views on Thanksgiving and the fact that most Native Americans still gather to eat turkey and give thanks.

"I think it's great. My ancestors had four harvest festivals throughout the year. Gathering with family and giving thanks for all that we have is a good thing. But I ask that you take a moment on that day to remember what happened to my people and the history as it was and not what had been written in the history books."
