Back in the early 1980s, students in Belgium didn't get to know China through Internet videos or some programs. Instead, they relied on thick textbooks. Dessein was among learners.

When he talked about his early days of studying Chinese, a smile appeared on his face. " (compare) with today, our understanding of the Chinese language wasn't deep.
