How to Show Your Unhappiness Politely

It is common to feel unhappy with your friends or classmates sometimes. But talking about your unhappiness in a rude way will only make things worse. Here are some easy ways to speak out your feelings nicely. 

First, find a quiet moment when both of you are free. Don't talk about the problem when other people are around. Second, start your words with "I feel…" instead of "You always…". This way, you talk about your own feelings, not blaming（责备）the other person. The other person will be more willing to listen to you. Third, use a gentle tone（语气）when you speak. Don't raise your voice or use rude words. You should also listen to the other person's side carefully. When you both understand each other, it will be much easier to fix the problem. 

Learning to show your unhappiness politely is a useful skill for everyone.

The English Speech Team

Last month, our school held an English speech competition（比赛）. Mia and her deskmate Ryan made a team. They decided to give a speech about good manners. Mia was in charge of（负责）the body language（肢体语言）part, and Ryan would write the main content（内容）. 

For three days, Mia saw Ryan do little work during class breaks. He just sat there and read cartoon books. Mia felt very upset. She thought Ryan was not serious（认真的）about the competition. She even wanted to change her partner, but she didn't say anything. 

The day before the competition, Ryan gave Mia a thick notebook. Inside, there were all the speech lines（演讲稿词）, marked with pauses（停顿）and stress（重音）. He also drew small pictures to show every gesture（手势）they needed. Ryan said he collected all the materials（材料）and practiced the lines at home every night. He read cartoon books just to relax his eyes. 

Mia felt sorry. She told Ryan she misunderstood him. They practiced together after school and finally won second prize.

Good communication（沟通）helps us  our classmates and friends. When we have a problem with someone, we should stay calm shouting or arguing right away.

Try not to when you talk. Speak politely and slowly. Most importantly, you should patiently（耐心地）before you give your own opinions. , you may find it hard to do so. But if you keep trying, you will solve the problem easily in the end.

Tina: Hi, Mark. You look unhappy. 

Mark: I'm angry with my partner Peter. We need to finish the poster by tomorrow. 

Tina: Didn't you work on it together? 

Mark: We planned to. 

Tina: It's not fair（公平的）that you do all the work. 

Mark: I don't want to talk to him right now. 

Tina: But the task won't finish itself. 

Mark: Maybe you're right. I'll tell him how I feel.

Tina: Good.
