Imagine taking a voyage to the deepest part of the ocean. What types of thing would you expect to see?Would you see familiar animals and plants or find strange and new ones?
Scientists keep looking for new species and new facts..
Diving deep in the ocean
The deep ocean,1,000 meters below the surface,is freezing cold.
What's worse, the water pressure can harm you if you don't have protective devices on.Therefore, deep divers wear special diving suits to protect themselves from the water pressure. ,some of which have robot arms that can collect samples of water, soil, and small animals underwater.
Using satellites for tracking
Satellites up in space can help to track sea animals' travels in the ocean.Scientists attach some animals with electronic sensors to study them. Then,a satellite can track the signal from the sensor attached on the animal's fin or back..Besides,scientists can use this signal to predict the animal's future movements.
.
What types of animals are in the ocean? How many are there?Oceanographers studied and counted animals for ten years to discover the answers. They looked at all the world's oceans from the North Pole to the South Pole. They counted more than 30,000 species in more than 30 million records.More than 6,000 new species had never been seen before!
However, not all the animals have been discovered.
.There are many more surprises to come!
A.Counting sea animals
B.Living deep underwater
C.The more they explore, the more they find
D.It shows when, where, and how the animal travels

Organic food, grown without artificial chemicals,is increasingly popular nowadays.Consumers have been willing to pay up to twice as much for goods with organic labels. However,if you think paying a little more for organic food gets you a more nutritious and safer product, you might want to save your money.A study led by researchers at Stanford University says that organic products aren't necessarily more nutritious, and they're no less likely to suffer from disease-causing bacteria, either.
The latest results, published in the Annuals of Internal Medicine, suggest that buyers may be wasting their money."We did not find strong evidence that organic food is more nutritious or healthier," says Dr.Crystal Smith-Spangler from Stanford."So,consumers shouldn't assume that one type of food has a lower risk or is safer."
For their new study,Smith-Spangler and her colleagues conducted a review of two categories of research, including 17 studies that compared health outcomes between consumers of organic against traditional food products, and 223 studies that analyzed the nutritional content of the foods, including key vitamins, minerals and fats.
While the researchers found little difference in nutritional content, they did find that organic fruit and vegetables were 20% less likely to have chemicals remaining on the surfaces.Neither organic nor traditional foods showed levels of chemicals high enough to go beyond food safety standards. And both organic and traditional meats, such as chicken and pork, were equally likely to be harmed by bacteria at very low rates. The researchers did find that organic milk and chicken contained higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids, which are also found in fish and can reduce the risk of heart disease. However, these nutritional differences were too small, and the researchers were unwilling to make much of them until further studies confirm the trends.
Organic food is produced with fewer chemicals and more natural-growing practices, but that doesn't always translate into a more nutritious or healthier product. The US Department of Agriculture(USDA) states that "whether you buy organic food or not, finding the freshest foods available may have the biggest effect on taste".Fresh food is at least as good as anything marketed as organic.
(1)、What does the new research question?A、Whether organic food should replace traditional food. B、Whether organic food has been overpriced by farmers. C、Whether organic food is grown with less harmful chemicals. D、Whether organic food is really more nutritious and healthier.(2)、What did Smith-Spangler and her colleagues find?A、Organic food could reduce the risk of heart disease. B、Traditional food was grown with more natural methods. C、Both organic and traditional food they examined were safe. D、There was no presence of any forms of bacteria in organic food.(3)、Which of the following is relatively healthier according to the passage?A、Organic chicken and pork. B、Organic milk and chicken. C、Traditional chicken and pork. D、Traditional fruit and vegetables.(4)、What is the author's attitude towards organic food?A、Doubtful. B、Neutral. C、Unconcerned. D、Approving. -

The air is thin and we have to rest several times on the short hike from camp.To our left,snow-covered mountains disappear into clouds that seem almost close enough to touch. On the grassland in front of us,we can just make out a herd of graceful animals. This is why we're here—to observe Tibetan antelopes.
Tibetan antelopes live on the plains of Tibet,Xinjiang, and Qinghai.Watching them move slowly across the green grass,I'm struck by their beauty.I'm also reminded of the danger they are in.They are being hunted, illegally, for their valuable fur.
My guide is Zhaxi,a villager from Changtang. He works at the Changtang National Nature Reserve. It covers an area of about 120,000 square miles. The reserve is a shelter for the animals and plants of northwestern Tibet. To Zhaxi, protecting the wildlife is a way of life."We're not trying to save the animals," he says."Actually,we're trying to save ourselves."
The 1980s and 1990s were bad times for the Tibetan antelopes. The population dropped by more than 50 percent.Hunters were shooting antelopes to make money.Their habitats were becoming smaller as new roads and railways were built.
In order to save this species from extinction, the Chinese government placed it under national protection.Zhaxi and other volunteers watched over the antelopes day and night to keep them safe from attacks.Bridges and gates were added to let the antelopes move easily and keep them safe from cars and trains.
The measures were effective. The antelope population has recovered and in June 2015,the Tibetan antelope was removed from the endangered species list. The government, however, does not intend to stop the protection programmes, since the threats to the Tibetan antelope have not yet disappeared.
In the evening,I drink a cup of tea and watch the stars.I think about the antelopes and what Zhaxi told me.Much is being done to protect wildlife, but if we really want to save the planet,we must change our way of life.Only when we learn to exist in harmony with nature can we stop being a threat to wildlife and to our planet.
(1)、Why did the writer visit Tibet?A、To watch the Tibetan antelopes. B、To go on a short hike from camp. C、To see the snow-covered mountains. D、To visit their friend Zhaxi in Changtang.(2)、What happened to the Tibetan antelopes in the 1980s and 1990s?A、Their habitats disappeared. B、They were attacked by other animals. C、They were shot by hunters for money. D、Their population dropped by less than 50 percent.(3)、What can we know about the Changtang National Nature Reserve?A、It was built by volunteers and villagers. B、Its protection programmes have been stopped. C、It was founded to protect the wildlife that live there. D、Its antelopes are on the list of endangered species now.(4)、What does the author intend to tell us?A、The importance of a good lifestyle. B、Protecting wildlife is protecting ourselves. C、Changtang is the best place to observe Tibetan antelopes. D、More volunteers are needed to keep the antelopes from attacks. -

My mother always said, "Can't never could until he tried." She recited it to me many times during my childhood. It was like waving a red flag in front of a bull. Angry as it was, it took root. I strongly believe that I will never be able to do something unless I try.
Last year, my husband was downsized out of his job, leaving us with a single income—mine. We were a two-income family with two children to support. Just when it looked like things couldn't get worse, I lost my job too.
While my husband was making calls for another job, I stayed at home and did my best to figure out how to make the most of every cent. When I tried to get some milk from the refrigerator, I found the milk had gone bad. What was wrong? It took me some time to make it out. The refrigerator didn't work. It was often difficult for me to have a hopeful and positive attitude at that time.
Anxious about our situation, I tried to think of something that I could do to earn some money. Even a little would help. Maybe we could at least get the refrigerator repaired. But what could I do? I began searching the want ads, applying for anything that I was even able to do.
I had lunch with a former coworker who insisted that I would be great at teaching computer classes. I had used word processing software at my former job and was definitely an expert. I used to help my friends learn how to use computer software. I was considerate and easygoing and I was good at describing things patiently. Once my friends had difficulty in using the computer, I would be willing to help—guiding them through, answering all their questions. From their facial expressions, I could tell they loved me.
Was it possible that people would actually pay me to teach them? I suddenly remembered my mother's words "Can't never could until he tried".

Living heritages are cultural elements that are considered to be an important part of the cultural heritage of our nation and that are still present and transmitted today. It is an artistic practice of writing Chinese characters, often with a brush and ink on Xuan paper.
The evolution of Chinese calligraphy began alongside the earliest Chinese characters discovered to date—inscriptions on oracle bones(甲骨文), from the Shang Dynasty(c. 16th century—11th century BC) in Anyang, Henan province.
Over time, calligraphy gradually took shape as a form of art rather than a mere means of record. Five major styles of script were born. They were running, cursive, official, seal and regular.
The type of brush, density of ink and texture of paper can all change the output. From brush inclination and direction to speed of writing, every twist and turn of the wrist is also calculated. Structure of individual characters and special layout as a whole determine its quality. Moreover, the emotions of the writer are directly reflected on calligraphy.
Calligraphy is a fine art. Lan Ting Xu is one of the most celebrated masterpieces. Its elegance and expressive brushwork gave it both historical and cultural significance in Chinese literature.
Calligraphy is also within reach. Like the Spring Festival couplets that decorate doors of everyday folks, calligraphy has always been the sign of appreciation for the Chinese. Where there is Chinese language, there is calligraphy. .
Chinese calligraphy is still highly valued today for its more than just writing. It was written on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanityby UNESCO in2009. We strongly believe Chinese calligraphy will be passed from generation to generation.
