Animal Sleep Habits
All animals need sleep, and they sleep in many interesting ways! Cows and sheep can sleep when they are standing up, and bats (蝙蝠) love to sleep upside down. Many birds put their heads under their wings and even close one eye when they sleep.
Different animals also sleep for different time. Grazing animals like horses and elephants spend most of their day eating grass, so they only sleep for a short time. But brown bats sleep for about 20 hours a day! Squirrels sleep 15 hours each day, and lions sleep about 13.5 hours. Cats and dogs sleep less than them, with 12 hours and 10.5 hours each day. Elephants sleep just.4 hours a day, and horses sleep the shortest, only 3 hours!
