Then I realized it wasn't me that had caused the fire. It was someone else.

Even though I had taken many fire awareness courses at work, I forgot everything I'd ever been taught at that time. My one instinct was to flee down the stairs.

"There's a fire! Stay by the window!" someone shouted below the building. And that man's words of warning stopped me and helped save my life. If I had opened my front door at the top of the stairwell to escape, the flames raging below would have been drawn upwards by the rush of oxygen and would have swept over me in an instant. I knew I should go to the kitchen and wait for help by the window there. I knew the firemen would save me using a ladder.

An exhibition of British Victoria-era art and craft opened at Guangdong Museum in Guangzhou, Guangdong province on Friday - the first of its kind in China.

Entitled Splendour, Art in the Age of Victoria, the exhibition includes oil paintings, water color paintings, sculptures, garments, (piece) of jewelry and ceramics categories.

More than 100 artworks come from Britain's National Museums Liverpool, are joined by collections from Guangdong Museum, Guangzhou Thirteen Hongs Museum and China National Silk Museum.

The Victoria era（1837-1901） (mark)the height of the British Industrial Revolution and gave birth to a boom of British culture and arts. Some items on show reflect the  (combine)of Western and Eastern elements amid the trade globalization.

"The exhibition explores fine and (decorate) arts from the peak period of British history, the reign of Queen Victoria. ...Our trade and relationship China is one that we value and one that is really important for us (continue) into the modern day," said Laura Pye, director of National Museums Liverpool in a video message at the exhibition launching ceremony on Thursday night.

Rates of anti-dining syndrome in newborns surged in recent years, but a newer approach to caring for newborn babies exposed to drugs during pregnancy gets them out of the hospital sooner and with less medication.Newborns in drug withdrawal may experience upset stomach, miserable crying and extreme discomfort. Researchers looked at the impacts of the ESC ( Eat, Sleep, Console care) approach on 1,300 infants at 26 US hospitals, and compared them with the current standard for caring for infants exposed to drugs.

ESC encourages involvement from parents, and prioritizes care that doesn't involve medication, breastfeeding,for example.The usual approach involves a nurse measuring a baby's withdrawal symptoms before providing treatment .

Compared to usual care, use of the ESC approach substantially decreased time until those infants were medically ready for discharge, without increasing specified harmful outcomes.

The infants assessed with the ESC method were discharged after eight days on average, compared with almost 15 days for the infants who were cared for by the standard approach.Additionally, infants in the ESC care group were 63% less likely to receive drug medication – 19.5% received medication compared with 52% in the group receiving usual care.

The current approach to usual care is a very comprehensive and nurse-led way of assessing the infant, whereas the ESC approach involves the mom in the way that you assess the infant, and allows the mom to try her best to comfort the infants and see if the infant is able to be consoled or is able to eat or is able to sleep.

"So, in that way, it's a little bit more functional, like looking at the abilities of the infants versus how severely the infant is affected.Assessment results determine whether a baby should receive medication to control withdrawal symptoms,''said Baker,the director of the NIH HEAL Initiative,which provides funds to researchers studying ways to relieve the country's drug health crisis.

AUSTIN, Texas — A Texas man went next door with a rifle and began shooting his neighbors, killing an 8-year-old and four others inside the house, after the family asked him to stop firing in his yard because they were trying to sleep, authorities said Saturday.

Sheriff Greg Capers said authorities were still searching for the 39-year-old suspect following the night shooting in the town of Cleveland, about 45 miles north of Houston. He said the suspect used an AR-style rifle in the shooting.

Capers said there were 10 people in the house and that no one else was injured. He said two of the victims, believed to be from Honduras, were found laying over two children inside.

"The Honduran ladies that were laying over these children were doing it in such an effort as to protect the child," Capers said.

The conflict followed family members walking up to the fence and asking the suspect to stop shooting rounds, Capers said. The suspect responded by telling them that it was his property, according to Capers, and that one person in the house got a video of the suspect walking up to the front door with the rifle.

Three of the victims were women and one was a man. Their names were not released. Capers said the victims were between the ages of 8 and about 40 years old.

Authorities have previously been to the suspect's home, according to Capers. "Police officers have come over and spoke with him about the shooting his gun in the yard," he said.

Capers said some of those in the house had just moved from Houston earlier in the week, but he did not know whether they were planning to stay there.

In the age of multimedia, books have taken various forms. That applies to the world of the visually impaired, too.CBL offers its readers a smart listening device that looks like an old-fashioned cellphone. Guided by a recorded voice, a user has to just press a few buttons to gain access to 20 terabytes of audiobooks stored on the CBL website.The smart listening device is part of a Digital Reading Project for the Blind launched by China Disabled Persons' Federation in 2017.

As part of the program, the government purchased 200,000 such devices and distributed them to the over 400 Braille libraries and barrier-free reading rooms nationwide for lending to the visually impaired. Now, 80 percent of them are still in use, which means more than 160,000 visually impaired people are benefiting from it.

● Students must have their study abroad office complete the Statement from University form in order to be considered for the scholarship.

● Must be a university student in the United States.

● Scholarship applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
