3、阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A new research led by University of Pittsburgh psychologists shows that older adults may be able to prevent declines (衰退) in a certain kind of memory by sticking to regular exercise.
From the study, exercising about three times a week for at least four months is how much people need to obtain the benefits in episodic memory. Episodic memory, which is supported by a part of the brain that's known to benefit from exercise, is the kind that deals with events that happened to you in the past. It's also one of the first to decline with age.
Exercise that gets the heart pumping has shown promise in increasing brain health, and experiments in mice show that it improves memory — but studies looking at the same link in humans have come out mixed.
During the research, the team read 1, 279 studies carefully, eventually narrowing them down to just 36 that met specific criteria (标准). Then they used specialized software and no small number of Excel spreadsheets to transform the data into a form where the different studies could be directly compared. That work paid off when they found that pooling together those 36 studies was enough to show that for older adults, exercise can indeed benefit their memory.
Past analyses looking at connections between exercise and memory didn't find one, but the team took several extra steps to give them the best chance of finding a link if one did exist. They limited their search to particular groups and age ranges as well as a specific kind of strict experimental setup. Another key was focusing specifically on episodic memory.
With that much larger pool of participants, the team was able to show a link between exercise and episodic memory. The team also found the greatest effects of exercise in those who hadn't yet experienced any cognitive (认知的) decline.
(1)、What can we learn about"episodic memory"?A、It benefits from regular exercise. B、It has nothing to do with age. C、It deals with things happening now. D、It is connected with the whole brain.(2)、How did the team get their study result?A、By carrying out 1, 279 studies. B、By making specific criteria. C、By doing experiments in mice. D、By comparing different studies.(3)、What can we infer from the last two paragraphs?A、The team got the findings by chance. B、The participants were chosen from all ages. C、The study focused on all kinds of memories. D、People without cognitive decline benefit most from exercise.(4)、Which of the following can be the best title for the text?A、Benefits from Regular Exercise B、Advice on How to Exercise for the Old C、Studies Find Ways to Improve Memories D、Exercise Helps the Older Keep Memories -
4、阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
There is a saying about the south-western Chinese province of Guizhou: "Not three feet of flat land, not three days without rain, not a family with three silver coins. " But, with the help of a spicy sauce, Tao Huabi, also known as "China's hottest woman", has well and truly opposed this rule.
Born in 1947, the eighth daughter of a poor family in a village of mountainous Guizhou, Tao did not go to school and did not learn to read or write. She spent her childhood hungry, and survived the Great Chinese Famine by eating plant roots, according to a biography on Weibo. When her husband died, she moved to the city of Guiyang and started selling noodles with a sauce that she made herself, She eventually opened the charmingly named Economical Restaurant in the 1990s. When a new highway brought truck drivers to Guiyang, she gave them free jars of the sauce and they spread the word. In 1996, she set a factory up in a house in Guiyang, and a year later Lao Gan Ma Special Flavour Foodstuffs Company was born.
Miranda Brown, professor of Chinese studies at the University of Michigan, who is writing a book on the history of Chinese food, says that in China, Lao Gan Ma's popularity is mainly because her products are natural. Chinese consumers tend to want foods that perfectly mix regional flavors and use ingredients grown from the soil of those regions. And today Lao Gan Ma is also increasingly popular overseas, especially in the US.
According to its website, the company produces 1. 3 million bottles daily, helping the historically poor Guizhou achieve 10.5% growth—the second fastest of every Chinese province that year, and ahead of the national rate of 6. 7%.
As for the godmother herself, an article in Yicai Global describes her as the Queen of a "red kingdom" of chili fields.

D、To describe the present Guizhou.(2)、What does the second paragraph focus on?A、Tao's growth process. B、Tao's living conditions. C、The hardships faced by Tao. D、The development of the company.(3)、According to Miranda Brown, what is the reason for Lao Gan Ma's popularity?A、Low price. B、Spicy taste. C、Local ingredients. D、Positive comments.(4)、What can we learn from Tao's story?A、God helps those who help themselves. B、Failure is the mother of success. C、Well begun, half done. D、Many hands make light work. -
5、阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
We see a woman swimming at night in a dark sea. Suddenly, she is pulled underwater. She surfaces, cries in fear, then disappears forever. This is the opening scene from the 1975film Jaws, showing a shark attack. It was a great success, attracting huge audiences and winning many awards. It also strengthened people's long-held idea of the great white shark.
People have always been scared of sharks, but Jaws made things worse. Many people who saw the film started to believe that sharks were dangerous animals that ate humans. Some started fishing for sharks, killing as many as they could. At that time, nobody cared if sharks were killed, or how many were killed.
After 1975, the number of large sharks fell quickly. This was not only due to fear of sharks, but also finning. Finning is a type of fishing where sharks are caught and their fins(鳍) cut off to be used in shark fin soup. Finning kills millions of sharks a year.
Finning would have an unexpected effect upon Peter Benchley, the man who wrote the book the film Jaws was based on. In 1980, Benchley came across an awful sight in an area where fishermen were finning, leaving the sea floor covered with dead sharks. Benchley saw sharks being killed and this caused a deep change in him. He came to see people as a danger to sharks, rather than the other way round. From that day on, he fought to protect sharks. He admitted that his book was wrong about sharks' behavior. "Sharks don't target humans, " he said.
Fortunately, not everyone who watched the film Jaws became afraid of sharks — some became interested in understanding them. Today, as we learn more about sharks, more people than ever want to protect them from extinction.
(1)、The passage begins with a scene of the film Jaws to ____.A、introduce the topic of sharks B、show the success of the film C、describe how evil the shark is D、attract people to watch the film(2)、What can we learn from paragraph 2?A、Sharks were believed to be endangered animals. B、Sharks wouldn't have been killed without the film Jaws. C、People had no idea how scary sharks were if not for the film. D、Misunderstanding towards sharks was deepened due to the film.(3)、What influence did finning have on Peter Benchley?A、He became more interested in shark movies. B、He no longer saw sharks as a threat to humans. C、He decided to protect sharks by rewriting his book. D、He admitted being responsible for the deaths of sharks.(4)、What is the author's attitude towards the future of shark protection?A、Hopeful. B、Unsure. C、Mixe D、D.Unconcerned. -

17、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I sank down in my canvas(帆布)camp chair at the end of the driveway, our new house standing behind me. A folding table with snacks and drinks sat a few feet away. What if no one shows? Upstate New York was quite different from my native South America. In Cap Town, where I grew up, our whole neighborhood would spill outside in the evenings to socialize. There were no fences, no sense of where one family's yard ended and another's began. People set out long tables. My father grilled fish, enough to share. A neighbor offered biltong and biscuits. Mom handed out juice boxes, and all of us kids grabbed for our favorite flavor, lychee, a sweet tropical fruit. Maybe people here thought it was strange for us to throw our own welcome party. I stared at the two sloping(倾斜的)sections of the corn hole game I'd set up. The whole thing suddenly felt embarrassing. How long should I sit here, I wondered, before packing up?
The idea had come to me the day we moved in, literally as we drove down our new street a month earlier, in June 2021. With each basketball hoop and swing set we passed, my excitement grew. Families! I could picture us all hanging out together. At last, a real community, something I'd been searching for since moving to the United States after law school! "Let's invite the neighbors to a get-to-know-you party! "I announced to my wife, Sarah, and our 11-year-old twins, Olivia and Holly.
A week earlier, Sarah had designed the invitations: Hello! We're new to the neighborhood. The Sprout Family. We'd love to meet you. Monday, July 5, anytime between 6 pm and 8 pm. We'd like to keep it simple, so no RSVP. She and the girls had gone house to house, putting an invitation in each of the 12 mailboxes. But we hadn't heard a word since. Wouldn't at least one family have told us they were coming? I checked my watch. 6:10 pm. Maybe I'd misjudged. Maybe this was a keep-to-yourself kind of neighborhood.
