High school can be a terrible phase if you get it all wrong. Find out how to survive high school with a few easy tips. 

⒈Be Yourself. 

High school is a fun time to make new friends, meet new people, date and socialize (社交). Make friends with all kinds of people and not just a group which you are comfortable with. Most peer pressure cases are because of the weak image created by freshmen.  Don't give in to what anyone else wants you to be.

Choose your friends carefully and make sure you won't get influenced （影响）by anyone. Socialize, but by judging who you can connect to. You will find friends, but stay away from the ones who don't want to be your friends as a bad company is disappointing, but the good one is amazing,

⒊Be positive. 

There is nothing better than having a smile on your -face whenever you can.  Don't be afraid to make friends, don't get aggressive or personal with anyone and treat others the way you want to be treated. Respect your teachers and classmates and try to be helpful if you want the same in return. 

⒋Be Confident. 

When you believe in yourself, others believe in you. Talk, walk and address people confidently and this will create a strong image about you,  Be creative and unique and learn to set trends. Confidence is one quality you grow with, and people respect you for that. ⒌Love High School. 

  Make the most out of it, and you will never get those moments back. Come up with good ideas for your class, join clubs, make friends or go to parties, but just make as many memories as you can!

With these tips to survive high school, you will surely be proud of experiencing such a wonderful period. So, when you throw those hats in the air, feel the freedom and remember every moment you spent in "High School".

The Internet has become part of teenage life. There's a report on 3, 375 students aged from 10 to 18 in seven Chinese cities. It says that 38 percent of them believe they use the Internet often. While most of them get useful information and use the Internet to help in their studies, some are not using it in a good way. Many are playing online games too much. A few even visit websites they should not look at. Bad things can happen if young people spend too much time on the Internet,

In order to help young people use the Internet in a good way, a textbook on good Internet behavior has started to be used in some Shanghai middle schools this term. It uses real examples to teach students all about good ways of using the Internet. It gives useful advice such as it's good to read news or find helpful information to study. Some students also make online friends. But if you are meeting a friend offline, let your parents know. 

Teachers and parents all think the book is a good idea. It will teach students how to be á good person in the online world. It will be a guide for teens to use the Internet and keep students away from bad sites. 

I came to the United States ten year ago. I would always say that I was trying to study, but there were always things like work and my kids that would not allow me to start. 

Now I realize that those were only excuses. What stopped me was that I was afraid to start studying again. I always believed I would learn by myself. 

One day, however, my son told me that he was sad because his friends would come over and I didn't understand them because I didn't speak English. He was also sad because I could never help him with his homework. That same day, I told myself, "Rocio, you' have to start believing in yourself and you will see you can make it. "

The next day, I went downtown to look for a big banner (横幅） in front of the school which said that they offered classes for adults. I came in to see if I could join, but the classes were closed already. That night I took the kids to the movies, and on the way back, I told them we would take a new route. I ended up getting lost. That's the way I found Chaffey College. The following Monday, I went to ask for information. They told me that summer school was starting that week. 

That's how I started studying English last summer. It is difficult, but I have had great rewards. My daughter had to write a story for school. It was about the female they most admired and why. She wrote that I was the person she most admired because I had started going to College. I will never forget this.

Violet and Tilly were two sisters. Tilly was so stuck with her sister that she always followed her elder sister, Violet, everywhere. For example, when Violet was painting, she would paint by her side. Every time, Violet looked at her angrily. Couldn't she find her own thing to do? This time, it was Tilly's first week at gymnastics, while Violet had done gymnastics for the past two years.

Violet sat on the gym floor, waiting for her turn to do somersaults (翻筋斗). She frowned at her little sister across the room. Why couldn't Tilly always find her own thing to do? "Violet, you're up!" called Violet's instructor, Miss Taylor. Violet came over and pushed off with her legs and straightened her arms. She did one, two, three somersaults. Miss Taylor clapped. "Perfect!"

Violet noticed that Tilly had stepped away from the younger group to watch Violet's somersaults. "Tilly!" called Tilly's instructor, Miss Brooke, from across the room. Tilly didn't seem to hear. Not until she was called three times did she run back to her group. " Your turn to do somersaults. " Miss Brooke put an arm around her. Tilly walked to the mat with her face turning red like a tomato. She bent down to start a somersault. When she rolled, she fell heavily on the mat. Kids laughed in surprise at the noise.

Tilly stood uncomfortably and then ran towards the restroom. She was gone from the gym, as Violet had wanted. But it didn't feel right. After telling Miss Taylor where she was going, Violet hurried to the restroom. She found Tilly crying hard. Violet put an arm around her sister. Seeing Violet, Tilly cried even harder. Tilly sniffed "I don't want to do gymnastics any more. " She wiped away the tears with the back of her hand. This was Violet's chance. If she said nothing to her sister, Tilly might quit gymnastics forever.

The TV series, A Li felong Journey,  (earn) widespread applause, becoming the most-watched TV series on State broadcaster China Media Group in the past five years. 

A Li felong Journey, (consist) of 58 episodes, is adapted from famous writer Liang Xiaosheng's novel of the same name which won the 10th Mao Dun Literature Prize, one of the country's top honors for local writers. Starting in late 1960s, the story follows the ups and downs of three children in a working-class family in northeastern China, striking a chord (和弦) with viewers for its details (vivid) bringing them back to old times. First (publish) in December 2017, the novel shows a wide range of Chinese people from different (walk) of life, from constructors to start-up founders, to examine the huge influence brought by the changes of Chinese society.

Tie Ning, chairwoman of the China Writers' Association, said the great (popular) of the TV series, A Li felong Journey, illustrates the "close bond" literature and television. "While taking a look at history, we could see the mutual (相互的) influence of literature, film and television to boost and inspire each other, has connected writers and filmmakers closely," she added. With popular TV series or movies, the stories that have inspired such screen works will see their influence grow even (far).

In January 2018, I was moving to New Jersey. I had two kids and a(n) 41  business, so a quiet train ride felt like a small vacation. Yet I found myself spending that 42  time through my social media feeds. So I put down my phone and 43  writing thank-you notes to people.

How to improve reading efficiency

⒈Make sure of your purpose of reading. 

Before you start reading, ask yourself why you are reading this book. Most people read for two main reasons: pleasure or knowledge. Being specific and clear about your reading purpose not only helps you to avoid books that you don't need to read, it also reminds you the book is important to you.

⒉Read only what you are attracted to. 

Whether you are reading fiction or nonfiction, it's important to enjoy what you read. Your friends may recommend books that they love, but those books might not necessarily be the ones you enjoy. 

⒊Give up books that you don't enjoy. 

You may have selected books that match your purpose. You may have selected books that you are attracted to. But you are reading them, there may still be some books that you won't enjoy reading.  Remember reading shouldn't make you feel annoyed.

Having a reading goal helps you figure out how much reading you need to do in a week or even a day. 

⒌Give yourself a deadline to finish each book. 

Before you read each book, ask yourself when you need to finish this book. What I find interesting is that I tend to read books that I borrow from libraries faster than the books I bought.  I don't need to return those books. When you don't set a deadline to finish you book, there isn't a sense of urgency. And when something isn't urgent, you tend to slow down. 

A. Set a reading goal. 

B. Understand each word of the sentence. 

C. Read books which you are interested in. 

D. Reading is the most important way to get knowledge. 

E. The reason is that the books I bought don't have a due date. 

F. This encourages you to keep reading and complete the book faster. 

G. Whenever you realize that you aren't enjoying the book you are reading, give it up. 

NASA selects university teams for space exploration

The moon's permanently shadowed areas, nearly 384, 400 kilometers away from home, are the closest water source outside the earth. The craters have been dark since billions of years ago. But now with student-developed technologies, more about them can be discovered. 

Through the competitive Breakthrough, Innovative and Game-changing (BIG) Idea Challenge and the Space Grant project, NASA has awarded nearly $ 1 million to eight university teams. They will build sample lunar payloads (装备) and demonstrate innovative ways to study the moon's darkest areas. 

"Its an exciting time for NASA and students across the country," said Drew J. Hope, Program Manager of Game Changing Development program. "Thanks to our partnership with the Office of STEM Engagement, this is the most money NASA has awarded in a student challenge directly connected to Artemis. "

The chosen teams will work out ways to gather data in and around the craters, generate wireless power for future infrastructure, and enable autonomous mobility even in the most extreme environments. The research results could benefit NASA's Artemis Program and be used to study the moon ahead of a human landing in 2024 or help establish sustained presence by 

2028. Each team will receive different amounts of grants, based on the concept and budget they propose. They will develop and test the technologies in simulated(模拟的environments with the awards during the following 10 months, showing they are prepared for a possible lunar mission as early as 2023. Then in November 2020, a panel of NASA and industry experts will examine the teams' research and development results at a face-to-face design review. 

"One of the most exciting things about this challenge is that several of the concepts, if proven to be valuable as a result of these awards, could eventually be integrated and operated together on the surface of the moon," according to Chad Rowe, Acting Manager of Space Grant project. " These students are part of the Artemis generation and they are helping fulfil NASA'S mission needs today, while developing relevant hands-on experience that will prepare them for aerospace careers after graduation.

However, there is more to Edinburgh than historic monuments and tourism. Each year, the Edinburgh Festival takes place in the city. In late summer, for three weeks, the festival presents classical music, theatre, opera and dance at six major theatres and concert halls and several smaller ones throughout the city. Whatever your cultural tastes are, you are sure to find something to enjoy. 

Local talent is always represented at the Edinburgh Festival giving Scottish composers and playwrights the opportunity to show their work and gain praises from a wider audience. 

In addition, orchestras and theatre companies come from all over the world to perform at the festival. Last year saw the arrival of orchestras from the United States and Germany. 

The festival has now become an important part of Scotland's economy as well as its culture. Last year's festival gained over £130 million in Edinburgh alone, and across Scotland nearly 2,900 jobs exist as a direct result of the festival. 

The festival is so popular that it has become, in some ways, a victim of its own success. The huge interest in performing there led to the setting up of a rival festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Fortunately, demand for live entertainment during the summer is so great that both festivals continue to develop. 

When I was younger, I was addicted to reading. I could get through a whole book in a day, and used to beg my parents every night to let me stay up late so that I could just finish my chapter. From fairy-tales to thrillers, non-fiction to plays, I enjoyed reading any literature that I could get my hands on. 

However, while there are many books for younger children,once you reach your mid-teens the choices become limited. I found myself choosing between books for children that were simple and not that interesting, and adult books that I couldn't quite understand.

This lack of choice eventually led me to read less and less. When I was in secondary school,the only books I read were ones we were assigned in English class,and I was never very enthusiastic about my teacher's choices. I thought too much discussion of symbolism and themes ruined the book. Maybe the sky being blue didn't represent anything;maybe it was just a description!

Fortunately, I realized quickly that deciding to go to university meant I had signed up for four years of reading books. I chose a French literature module in my first year. I started out, thinking I wouldn't enjoy any of the works we were studying over the course of the year. However,I soon realized that at a university level,the discussion was more fruitful and I found I had a lot to say!And being able to discuss my thoughts with others meant I could better understand the subtle aspects of the plot:yes,even the symbolism and themes.

I began reading again for pleasure, starting with Malcolm X's autobiography and never looking back. Now, during my year abroad,I spend a lot of my spare time in bookshops and reading in cafes. I'm so happy that I rediscovered my love of books.
