Peru is a country which is on the Pacific coast of South America with three main (area). Peru was the centre of the (power) ancient Inca Empire in the 1400s and 1500s. Spain took control of Peru in the 16th century and (rule) until 1821. It is for this reason Spanish is the main official language of Peru.

You can go from Cusco to the Amazon rainforest by plane. From there, you will spend one day (travel) by boat to your accommodation. Then you can spend three days exploring the rainforest with local guide and enjoying the plants and animals unique the rainforest.

It will take you four days (go) to the city of Machu Picchu on foot on amazing paths. Reach your destination and you will have a day to explore and be (amaze) by this ancient city. (especial) amazing is the Incas' dry stone method of building.

For a moment, I saw him reaching for the glass of water in front of him. But somehow, the water glass fell out of his hand and3 my newly-bought dress. I was4 angry and almost jumped up, ready to5 my anger. But before I could speak, he turned to me, full of6, and said, "Oh, I'm so sorry. I have a tremor (震颤症) and sometimes I can't7 my arms." Then he quickly handed me a clean towel (毛巾).

As the flight continued, we talked more and I learned more about his life and the11 he faced every day. Gradually, I felt a growing sense of14 for his strength (力量) and determination (决心) to live a normal (正常的) life regardless of his illness.

This journey reminded me to be kind, patient, and helpful towards those facing difficulties. And I got off the plane, deciding to be more15 of others' needs.

A. Some adults worry that you're more interested in the screen in front of you than the world around you. They think of you as the "face-down generation" because you use your phone so much and they wonder how you will deal with school, friends, and family.

B. Other adults worry that today's youth are spoilt (宠坏的) and don't want to face the challenges of adult life. Many children born in the 1990s and 2000s were raised by "helicopter parents".

C. If you're reading this, you were probably born in the 2000s. The oh-ohs. The 21st century. That would make you young, creative, connected, global, and no doubt smart. Maybe good-looking, too. Right? But what do other people think about your generation?

D. They were always there to guide and help them with a busy schedule filled with homework and extra-curricular activities such as dancing, drawing, or sports. With parents who do everything for them, today's youth seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.

E. Are today's teenagers too busy texting and taking selfies to become successful in real life — or "IRL", as you would say?

Aged communities, which have developed and changed naturally over a long period, hold unique cultures of their own. The buildings inside them are irreplaceable (不可替代的) to the environment. Choosing to pull down such architecture basically is like sentencing a special community to disappearance. Constructing "green" can be about saving time-honored, local building traditions that value the local cultures, rather than just using the latest and greatest technologies.

The construction supplies (建筑材料) and workmanship are also worth protecting, not simply because of the environmental cost of producing and transporting them, but for the fact that some of such supplies and the workmanship no longer live. For example, my little river cottage (别墅) in West Virginia, which was built with chestnut before the disappearance of the chestnut trees, may never again be sourced. However, the probable buyer planned to pull it down, which, in my view, is not only a mark of downgrading the source but also goes against the idea of workable development.

As the Preservation Green Lab report describes, it takes 10 to 80 years for a new building that is 30% more practical (实用的) than a common present building to overcome the harmful climate (气候) change results connected to the construction, which focuses on the necessity of ongoing use of present buildings and communities, successfully stopping or decreasing (减少) the use of forests, farms, wildlife homes and open areas for new construction tasks.

As Carl Elefante of Quinn- Evans architects artfully said, "The greenest building is one that is already built." Hopefully, the public will come to the agreement that present buildings are worth more care and attention.

Southern Viddle School students and their science teacher, Jenna Borman, are working on a prototype (雏形) desk that they hope to be connected to the wheelchair of their classmate, Kenneth, who has a special kind of illness and uses a computer as his primary way of communication.

"At present, the iPad with a strap (带子) that goes around his neck and a handle (把手) on the back of it for him to hold is pretty heavy. When he's seated, it kind of just lays on his legs. It's not very easy for him to use," Borman said, "Kenneth always has to hold his iPad, and so this project is going to help him just set it there so his hands are free," said Julia Baker to a school newspaper reporter.

What started off as an engineering after-school program has turned into a prize-winning idea. The students recently won a statewide Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) competition called " Solve for Tomorrow", which came with $12,000 worth of technology for the school.

"We thought it was just an idea for Kenny, and then we won. So, it was like, wow," said Avery Willet excitedly.

"This whole project is really teaching us about how to work together and how we can help other people and not just us," added Everleigh Finnelle.

"I learned how to work with others, and a lot of teamwork made this project the best it could be," said Haley Brown.

"There is still room for improvement. Our team is working on the prototype, making changes so it works perfectly for Kenny. We're really most looking forward to seeing him using it freely," Finnelle said. The final design won't be ready for the national competition until next month.
