My name is Tom, a senior high school student. I would like to share my trouble everyone and I am looking forward to getting some help from all of you.

Firstly, computer games are very popular among teenagers nowadays, and I (attract) to them too. I am so addicted to playing computer games that I can hardly get rid of them, does great harm to me! Secondly, I find quite difficult to learn the subjects well. I am recommended (ask) the teachers for help. However, I am not willing to do so because I am frightened of talking with them. The telephone rang. It was my sister, who was working in an elementary school. She told me she used my crayon1 again.

Over 40 years ago, I sat in my first-grade classroom2 the teacher asked me to go to the principal's office. I was shy. And I hated to be3. For me, being called to the principal's office was my worst dream.

When I pushed open the door, it was worse than I thought. Seated in front of the principal's desk were my4. My father walked straight over to me. Holding my drawings, he asked, "Why do you only use a black crayon when you draw?" I couldn't speak.

In my classroom, my father pulled out my crayon box from my desk. A single nub of a crayon rested in his palm — it was black.6, my father asked, "Where are the rest of your crayons?"

One evening, however, a health check-up report changed everything. The doctor warned that Dad's blood pressure was too high. Mum and I were worried, but Dad just smiled weakly. Without a word, he tightened the shoe laces and walked out into the chill morning air, his breath forming small white clouds.

The first week was hard. He could only walk to the end of our street and back, breathing like a broken vacuum cleaner. Step by step, he turned each walk into numbers that whispered, "You're going further than yesterday." Seeing the numbers grow gave him hope.

Weeks turned into months. Dad started to jog, then run. When laziness crept in, he glanced at the report still taped to the fridge, and muttered "Not today," and slammed the door shut behind him as he headed out for his run, "No giving up." That report became his personal coach.

One year later, Dad stood at the starting line of our city's 5-kilometre race. I waved at him from the crowd, my heart pounding harder than his. He crossed the finish line with tears in his eyes and Mum's hand in his. Our sofa finally lost its best friend.

Now Dad is preparing for a 10K. His story taught me that change doesn't need a miracle — just a first step.

The bus was among vehicles that had been cut off by landslides on the road since Wednesday morning. More than 10 people were also injured and have been relocated to the hospital in Medan city.

Muji Ediyanto, traffic director of the North Sumatra Regional Police, said in a video message distributed by Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency on Thursday that some vehicles remain trapped between the landslide locations along that road. "It will take at least two days to withdraw them from the landslide. Several vehicles are still trapped by piles from the landslides. There are also fallen trees at several points and landslides and the vehicles have not been able to get out of the locations," Ediyanto said.

Earlier this week, 20 people died after flash floods and landslides at four locations in the mountainsides of North Sumatra province, including Karo regency that is located less than 20 kilometers from the most-recent landslide location.

Seasonal rains from around October through to March frequently cause flooding and landslides in Indonesia, an archipelago (群岛) of 17,000 islands where millions of people live in mountainous areas or near fertile (肥沃的) flood plains.
