Our emotion is reflected vividly in the lips. Lips may visibly be out of shape in unusual emotions. In some cases, people's lips turn red to express they can't control their emotion. Additionally, people may not say anything but unwillingly accept something with the corners of their mouth pointed downward. Therefore, our lips show a lot of information. Once you realize these, you can help others in an emotional situation.

The lips are highly sensitive to touch and temperature, and they are also highly reactive to our emotional states. The lips react in real time to changing emotions. So, when people receive bad news or see a terrible event, the lips look pale.

Lip biting is one of the ways that we comfort ourselves. Sometimes a dry mouth will cause us to do that, but more often it's a way of reducing stress. Stress can also cause the lips to move awkwardly or the smile to look tense or forced. Certain drugs can also cause similar situations. Unfortunately, these behaviors may be misunderstood, and someone may be thought to be less trusted or confident.

As I noted in What Every BODY Is Saying, the human body shows in real time when there is emotional comfort and discomfort, and the lips can help us to understand that others may be struggling and need our attention. And, while many of us tend to focus on the eyes, faces etc. for information about emotional states, don't ignore the lips, as they are even more likely to show what the heart hides.

As I walk toward the kitchen, I'm greeted by my mother standing over the cooker. She effortlessly cooks a dish that mixes Western and Eastern styles, a beloved breakfast classic in our family. This is my grandmother's recipe(食谱).

Since my grandmother's passing, I've become more aware of my mother's aging and her devotion to cooking for us. She has cooked for her family for more than 30 years, dividing her time between three countries — Korea, Canada and Germany. When my parents visit us from Korea, they stay with us for several months. My mother helps around the house, showing her cooking skills to provide delicious meals for me, my partner and our kids. In every other year, she and my dad will travel to Berlin to spend a couple of weeks with my sister and her partner.

According to Statista, most Canadians report spending between 31 and 60 minutes preparing an average weekday dinner for themselves and others in their houses. Ten percent stated that they spend more than an hour preparing their evening meal. My mother belongs to that 10 percent.

Her cooking goes beyond the kitchen, starting with careful grocery shopping trips where she examines produce and finds the best deals. She takes everyone's preferences and needs into account. The meal she creates becomes a ritual (仪式), bringing the family together to connect and share. Helping her out in the kitchen requires a great deal of patience. Yet, I know it's her way of expressing love. As I prepare the vegetables, she notices that my carrots are not evenly sized. She pushes me aside to take over the task. "Just do the dishes."

At Mnazi Mmoja Hospital in Tanzania, 53-year-old Dr. Baiya Abdullah Rashid successfully performed his first Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (胆囊切除术), (guide) by his Chinese mentor (导师). After 10 months of training in minimally invasive (开刀的) surgery, he became the second local doctor in Zanzibar capable of performing this procedure independently. He expressed gratitude to his mentor and the doctors from 18 Chinese medical teams have trained him, acknowledging their efforts (improve) healthcare for the local community.

China (send) 27 medical teams to Tanzania since 1964, treating nearly 20 million people and filling many technical gaps in local hospitals. Despite (difficulty) like limited equipment, sources, and complex disease types, the Chinese medical team continues to develop (effect) treatment plans to carry out operations (smooth).

Highly respected by locals, Chinese doctors (call) "Doctor Rukia", which is "beautiful and kind-hearted doctor" in the local language. The local people are not wealthy, they still find ways to show their gratitude to the Chinese medical team, such as offering carefully handmade gifts.

Nassor Ahmed Mazrui, Zanzibar's Minister of Health, praised the Chinese medical team "true angels in white" who play a key role in Zanzibar. The people of Zanzibar will continue to benefit from this valuable partnership for years to come, as both communities work together towards a healthier future.
