Plan ahead. Most long-distance trains, especially the sleeping car accommodations, sell out very quickly. But no matter when you travel, it's a good idea to make your reservations at least 90 days in advance.

Use a travel agent. Consider turning your travel plan over to a travel agent and letting him double-check all the details, make suggestions, and then handle the actual reservations. A good one can sometimes find you discounted tickets. Then you won't have to walk through several cars on a moving train three times a day for your meals.

Bring a blanket.When you're riding on trains, you won't be provided with a blanket for free, even if your trip is an overnight one. In the summer in particular, the air conditioning can make them quite cold.

Arrive early. Most trains operate just once a day and some run only three times a week, so missing yours can be a disaster. Note: The times listed on the schedules are departure times, not arrival times.

Have fun. Read a book, knit, do a crossword puzzle, or simply watch the world unfold outside the window. To calculate your speed as you do, divide 3,600(the number of seconds in an hour)by the number of seconds it takes you to travel one mile(the distance between two mileposts). If it takes the train 53 seconds to travel one mile, you're going 67.92 mph.

I experienced this when I started switching to a zero waste lifestyle five years ago, as I was living with my parents, and I continue to experience this with my husband, as he is not completely zero waste like me. I've learned a few things along the way though, which I hope you'll find encouraging if you're doing your best to figure out how you can make the change in a not-always-supportive household.

Zero waste was a radical lifestyle movement a few years back. I remember showing my parents a video of Bea Johnson, sharing how cool I thought it would be to buy groceries with jars, and have so little trash! A few days later, I came back with my first jars of zero waste groceries, and my dad commented on how silly it was for me to carry jars everywhere. It came off as a bit discouraging.

Yet as the months of reducing waste continued, I did what I could that was within my own reach. I had my own bedroom, so I worked on removing things I didn't need. Since I had my own toiletries (洗漱用品), I was able to start personalising my routine to be more sustainable. I also offered to cook every so often, so I portioned out a bit of the cupboard for my own zero waste groceries. Perhaps your household won't entirely make the switch, but you may have some control over your own personal spaces to make the changes you desire.

As you make your lifestyle changes, you may find yourself wanting to speak up for yourself if others comment on what you're doing, which can turn itself into a whole household debate. If you have individuals who are not on board, your words probably won't do much and can often leave you feeling more discouraged.

So here is my advice: Lead by action.

Volunteering, which has the potential to create positive social impact, is a key priority for King's. The Board will ensure that students' needs are at the core of the service so that all King's students can make a difference.

Jack, who had just moved with his parents to a new town, was new to Emerson School. But he was very worried about his speech problem that had often brought about laughter from his former classmates. Although he had tried to exchange ideas with his classmates, he was afraid of being laughed at. Shy and reserved (内向的), Jack had always felt like an outsider, never quite fitting in.

Focus

One of the best ways to organize your study session is to use the Pomodoro Technique. The idea is to use a timer(计时器). When the timer goes off, you can reward yourself by listening to some music or having a drink of tea.

In a word, you can create your own plan based on what you need to learn. You might organize your study periods with the Pomodoro technique. Then, you can test yourself and mix different topics. There are many choices.

"So if I want to check my phone, I physically can see the book there. Nine times out of ten. I end up reading the book instead of using my phone for nothing."

Another challenge is time, and in that case, audio-books (有声书) can be a good choice. Audio-books are great for filling the mind while you're on the way to work, washing dishes or working out at the gym.

If you're still stuck on the way to developing a reading habit, the best way is to revisit your old favorite books to get your youthful reading pleasure. You should free yourself from the opinion that only important or educational books are worth reading. There's no shame in rereading the books that made you fall in love with reading in the first place. Restarting the practice of reading is a little like picking up painting. It takes some work to get into the best state, but once you begin the results are beautiful and satisfying.

True to its name, Door Step School sets up a school right at the doorstep of kids who can't get formal education due to a variety of reasons.

The team at DSS follows a direct model — they set up a classroom in any area, a footpath, construction site, or underpass, where they foresee the greatest need. They look for proper locations, and after making sure that enough resources are in place, they accept students in the area. DSS provides lessons of different levels. The organization even tries to provide classes in the local language, or whatever the students choose.

Another interesting project of DSS is a school on wheels. It uses a bus that has been changed into a classroom, which holds about 25 kids at a time.

Since it was started in 1988, Door Step School has spread from Mumbai to the neighbouring city of Pune in Maharashtra, covering a larger area and number of kids. Now DSS has a team of more than 1,000 volunteers and teachers who change more than 70,000 lives each year.

DSS doesn't end at kids. The organisation educates parents on the importance of sending their kids to school. Its efforts have made education accessible to thousands of students in the last two decades. Their belief in education for all has not only changed children's lives but also continued the fight against one of the biggest problems India faces. All children have the right to an education, and DSS is providing just that.

Wang Yaping, 44 years old now, was born in a small village in Shandong. She studied hard all those years. She was good at all subjects, especially sports. Luckily, in 1997, she was accepted by the Air Force, Changchun Flight Academy.

Wang's space dream started in 2003, when China sent its first astronaut Yang Liwei into space. She told herself, "China now has a male astronaut. When will there be a female one?" At that time, Wang was a pilot in the Chinese army. After having safe flights for 1,600 hours during nine years in the training center, Wang was a strong candidate (候选人) to become an astronaut in 2010. In 2013, Wang realized her space dream. She was sent to space by Shenzhou-10. She joined the team of Shenzhou-13 in 2021 and flew into the space for the second time.

However, it is difficult to be an astronaut. She has to experience a lot of pain that most people can't stand and keep training all the time. Wang Yaping told Xinhua, "The space environment won't change because you are a woman." She pushed herself hard, getting the same training as men, including the pull-ups and barbells (杠铃). That finally made her dream come true.

"You are on the way to success as long as you stick to your dreams." Wang Yaping said. She set a good example to the young. Millions of students are encouraged and inspired by the most beautiful astronaut.
