Air is all around us. It is around us as we walk and play. From the time we were born, air is around us on every side. When we sit down, it is around us. When we go to bed, air is also around us. We live in air. We can live without(没有) food or water for a few days, but we can not live for more than a few minutes without air. When we are working or running, we need more air. When we are asleep, we need less (更少的) air. We live in air, but we cannot see it. How can we make air move? Here is one way. Hold an open book in front of your face, close it quickly. What can you feel? What you feel is air.

My uncle Peter is a farmer. He has a small garden. He plants things in spring, summer, autumn and winter. After that he does very little work. He just sits in the garden with a smalradio(收音机) in his hand. But everything grows very well. People ask, "How does Peter grow these wonderful plants? He sometimes waters them, but he doesn't do anything else (别的). He just sits under an orange tree with his radio. He listens to music nealy all day!" And that is quite true. People can't understand(理解) it.
