Recycling

Do you know recycling? People make old things into new things. This is called recycling.

Recycling is good for the Earth, because it means(意味着) we don't waste(浪费) too many resources(资源). We can recycle things like empty plastic bottles, old newspapers,metal cans(金属罐), and even old cell phones. For example, old newspapers can become new paper, and old clothes can become small toys.

But we can't recycle everything. We can't recycle food or plastic bags.

At Lisa' s school, everyone likes recycling. The teacher helps students put different bins (垃圾桶)  in the classroom: a blue bin for paper, a green bin for plastic, and a red bin for metal.  Students also bring old clothes from home to give them to a recycling centre. They say recycling is easy and makes them feel happy to help the Earth.

Rainforests are big forests with tall trees. They get the name because they get lots of rain every year — more than 200 cm! Most rainforests are near the equator(赤道), so the weather there is hot and wet all year.

Most lives in rainforests live in different layers(层). Let's learn about it:

Different kinds of Maps in Life

Maps are very useful. There are different kinds of maps in our daily life.

First, there are paper maps. You can find them in bookshops or get them from tourist centres. They are easy to carry when you travel to a new place.

Second, we have digital (数码的) maps on phones or computers. Apps like Baidu Map or Gaode Map show you roads and places in real time, and they can even tell you how to get somewhere.

Third, there are wall maps. We often see them in classrooms. They are big and help students learn about countries, rivers and mountains.

Fourth, some book maps are in storybooks or geography books. They help readers understand (理解) where the stories happen(发生) or learn about different places.

Every spring, mother birds get busy. They fly around to 1 small branches (树枝) and soft grass—— these are for their nests(巢). Most nests are in tall trees because they keep the nests 2 from wind and rain. When the nest is ready, mother birds lay eggs. Father birds fly out to find 3 every day, then they get back to the nest to feed(喂) mother birds.

One day, it rained 4 . The nest got wet. Mother bird took care of her eggs carefully. If the eggs stayed wet too long, they might be sick. Luckily, the rain stopped soon. Weeks later, baby birds were born! When the little birds learn to fly, their parents leave(离开). But the next spring, their parents will 5 making a new nest again.The nest is always a nice home for little birds.
