Your brain possesses some incredible abilities, from recalling conversations with close friends to tackling complex math problems with ease.  At times, it may even overlook critical information, resulting in errors that could be bad for your well-being or health. .

One of the biggest shortcomings of your brain is that it can get lazy. When trying to solve a problem or make a decision, your mind often falls back on solutions that have worked in the past. Actually, it's beyond Earth that AI has the most enormous potential. Humans may have established bases beyond Earth by the year 2100. But don't ever expect mass emigration(移民)from Earth. It's a false belief that space offers an escape from our problems. Dealing with climate change on Earth is a piece of cake compared to terraforming(地球化)Mars.

Nevertheless, we should cheer on these brave human space adventurers. They'll be ill-adapted to a Martian habitat, so they'll have a super motive to redesign themselves. It's they, not those of us adapted to life on Earth. who will pioneer the post-human era (时代).

If post-humans make the shift from flesh and blood to fully artificial intelligence, they won't need an atmosphere of even gravity, so it's in deep space —not even on Mars that non biological "brains" may develop powers that we can't imagine. They may end up being mentally different from us. AI could jump-start a huge emigration and thus even more complex intelligence spreads through the universe.

But let's refocus from the science fiction of the far future, closer to the here and now. This century is special. It's the first, in Earth's 4.5-billion-year history where one species-ours—holds the planet's future in its hands. Our intelligence could initiate billions of years of post-human evolution(演化), even more amazing than that which led to us. On the other hand, humans could cause biological, environmental or cyber catastrophes that foreclose all this potential. If science is to save us, we need to think globally, sensibly and long-term—empowered by science, but guided by values that science alone can't provide

Falcons(猎鹰)are powerful birds that may be trained to hunt in cooperation with humans. The art of training falcons as "hunting dogs of the skies" is called falconry. It was developed in the ancient Arabian Desert around 4000 B.C. In the past, falconry mainly involved hunting with falcons to supplement one's diet. But now, it has become the favorite sport and spare-time activities in the Arabian Peninsula.

Falconry includes three major processes: acquiring the falcons, training them, and hunting with them. Every year, falconers begin capturing wild falcons in June and July, the migration season. The best birds to catch are the ones with naturally nurtured hunting skills, aged one or two years. Once the falcons are captured, their heads are immediately covered with a leather hood(罩). This is essential because they imprint as their master whomever they see first after the hood is removed. Right after a bird is caught, the training process starts. Arab falconers live with their birds day and night in order to build a strong relationship with them.

They are also the fastest divers on the planet. One hunting technique that sets them apart from other animals is that they can be trained to deliver their prey(猎 物), without killing it first. It was only a few weeks after my surgery. I went to Dr. Belt's office for a checkup. It was just after my first chemotherapy (化学疗法) treatment. My scar was still very tender. My arm was numb underneath. This whole set of unique and weird feelings was like having a new roommate to share the two-bedroom apartment formerly known as my breasts—now lovingly known as "the breast and the chest."

As usual, I was taken to an examination room to have my blood drawn, again— a terrifying process for me, since I'm so frightened of needles. I lay down' on the examining table. Ramona entered the room. Her warm sparkling smile was familiar, and stood out in contrast to my fears. I'd first seen her in the office a few weeks earlier.
