A Texas mother is helping children around the world learn a new language through her bilingual (双语的) teddy bear line. Dr. Tameka Maiden says she was trying to teach her then-1-year-old daughter, Tori, the colors when she 1  the idea for Cubby Love Bears, a line of colorful teddy bears that recite (诵读) letters, words, and numbers in English and Spanish.

"I 2 my daughter to have more exposure in the world than just English," Maiden, 38, explains. She 15 developed four different bears. "Babies are being born every second and communication is the key to everything," adds Maiden.

Overcoming Fear of Failure

Have you ever been so afraid of failing at something that you decided not to try at all? Or has fear of failure meant that, subconsciously, you undermined (削弱) your own efforts to avoid the possibility of a larger failure? It's important to realize that in everything we do, there's always a chance that we'll fail. Facing that chance and embracing it give us a more rewarding life. Here are a few ways to reduce the fear of failing.

Analyze all potential outcomes.  Remove that fear by considering all of the potential outcomes of your decision. You can map possible outcomes visually.

Set small goals. Imagining how life will be after you've reached your goal is a great motivator to keep you moving forward. So start by setting a few small goals. Don't focus on the end picture. Just focus on the next step. Taking one small step at a time will help build your confidence, keep you moving towards your final goal.

Learn to think more positively. Every coin has two sides.  Learn to change your thoughts and focus more on the bright side of the situation, making you like yourself. Positive thinking is an incredibly powerful way to build self-confidence.

 In some cases, the toughest situation may be genuinely disastrous (灾难性的) and it may be perfectly reasonable to fear failure. In other cases, however, this worst case may actually not be that bad, and recognizing this can help.

It was a hot day in the middle of July. I decided to walk to the neighborhood store where it sold my favorite thing, ice cream. I pulled a friend towards the ice cream store, almost passing out from the burning sun on the way.

As we walked on, my friend kept saying that it was too hot. She thought that she was stupid to decide to come with me to buy ice cream. I felt sorry and tried to encourage her. "We're almost there. Just think of the cool and sweet taste of ice cream in your mouth. It'll be worth the walk," I told her. But I had to admit that the store was quite a distance from our houses. During the journey, my mouth began to become dry and I wanted to drink.

When we were about a block away from the store, I noticed an old lady who was walking in our direction. She was about 70 years old. She had a big back problem, so she was unable to keep her back straight. She was struggling, pushing a shopping cart full of things like the soap, bread and water. With each step toward her, we began to see her appearance more clearly. It appeared that she was often unhappy and easy to get angry.

I looked at my friend to see if she had noticed her. I could see that she had and that she disliked the old lady due to the lady's appearance. As we approached the lady pushing the shopping cart, my friend directed me away from the old lady and the cart.

I began to observe other passers-by They were also trying to avoid her. Suddenly I heard a terrible sound behind me. I quickly turned around to see what it was. I found the lady's cart had been knocked over by something on the ground.

A Beautiful Place in China

Do you know the place Jinli? It's a street (lie) in Chengdu, Sichuan. The street has a long history and is rich traditional Chinese culture.

The street is about 550 meters long. You can see some ancient-style (building) along the well-known street. Years ago, Jinli (view) as the "National Top Ten City Commercial Pedestrian Street (商业步行街)". Making it to the Scripps National Spelling Bee (a spelling competition) is an amazing achievement for any kid, but for 11-year-old Neil Maes, being born deaf made his journey especially unlikely.

After receiving cochlear implants (人工耳蜗) in both ears as a baby, he had to train his brain to understand spoken words. It took countless hours of speech therapy (疗法).

"We didn't even know that he'd be able to talk," said his mother, Christy Maes.

Now the soft-spoken kid from Belton, South Carolina is officially one of the nation's top young spellers. He earned the right to take the stage in the final rounds of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Neil's parents have always given him a tip, coaching him to always ask the pronouncer for the meaning of a word, so that he can be sure he heard it correctly. Most contestants do this anyway.

"He's able to spell very difficult words. You tell him ‘Spell this word,' and he's able to actually imagine what that sounds like in his head and spell the word. It's actually quite impressive," said Dr. Michael Hoa, who performed Neil's cochlear implantation. "There's a lot that goes into training your brain to do that."

Neil's parents didn't know he was taking part in a spelling bee with his third-grade class until he came home and told them he had won. He made it all the way to his regional (地区的) bee that year, finishing second. Now a naturally shy fifth-grader, Neil is already worn out from the busy bee-week schedule, but he seems happy.

"Our main hope out of all of this was to encourage people that are going to be facing what we had to face," Christy said.

But Neil said coming to the bee has motivated (激发) him to study even harder, so he can return next year.

"It's just fun and I want to do it again," Neil said.

In January 2022, the now l7-year-old Mack Rutherford watched his 19-year-old sister, Zara Rutherford, set two new world records for flying around the world in an ultralight aircraft. Less than a month later, Mack declared his intention to go for a world record too!

"I always knew I wanted to do something special in my life in aviation but I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do, it was only when my sister flew around the world that I knew this was what I wanted to do," Mack said.

Mack is no stranger to aviation. He was only 15 when he became the youngest pilot in the world. Now, he's set the record for the youngest person to fly around the world, replacing previous record-holder Travis Ludlow of Britain. Travis was 18 when he set the record in

2021.

Mack's journey began on March 23rd, 2022 when he left Sofia, Bulgaria flying a Shark, an ultralight aircraft that's the same style his sister used in her circumnavigation of the globe.

"I am flying a Shark," Mack wrote on his website. "It is a high-performance ultralight aircraft made in Europe. The aircraft has been specially prepared for such a long journey."

Mack traveled through 52 countries over five continents. The trip was supposed to take between two and three months, but paperwork and visa issues slowed his progress.

On August 24, 2022, Mack completed his journey and set not one, but two new world records! He's now the youngest person to fly around the world solo. He displaced his sister as the previous record holder, but we're sure there are no hard feelings!

As Mack stepped out of the aircraft in Belgium, he had some simple words of wisdom to offer the world.

"Just follow your dreams, no matter how old you are — work hard and move forward to achieve your goals," he said.

My three-year-old son, Charles, has loved watching trucks, cars and all types of vehicles (交通工具) since he could sit up and look around. Charles was a fan of fire trucks, ambulances, garbage (垃圾) trucks and other vehicles which have wheels. 

Because of his deep love for anything with wheels, I always made it a point to take him outside to watch garbage trucks drive up and down. There was a particular waste management employee who was extra friendly. Charles was attracted by him, and after we knew his name — Lonnie, Charles talked about him throughout the day. One day, Lonnie rode by and said, "Charles, I promise when this pandemic (流行病) is over, I'm going to let you ride in my truck. " However, we were going to move out of the state about a week later. I had to tell Lonnie the truth.

The next week, we waited for the garbage truck. Finally, late in the afternoon, I heard the loud noise of the truck. I raced to the door, carrying Charles. We did not want to miss seeing Lonnie on our last week in Birmingham. Lonnie stopped the truck and got out. He told me he had some things for Charles — a hat, a yellow safety vest, two toy garbage cans, coloring books and so on. Charles was absolutely excited, especially by the garbage cans, and I was so touched. The next day, Charles and I were playing in the front yard when a man approached me. He said, "I'm Lonnie's manager, and he has something special planned for Charles. Are you going to be here around 11 am?" I said, "Of course we will. "

Shenzhou XIII taikonauts' six-month stay at the Tiangong space station is wrapping up. Now they face one last test of their scientific and space travel skills—returning home safely. What needs to be done before leaving space station in mid-April?

When Frank Herbert ordered pizza from Pizza Huts, he was surprised that Judit, at such an old age, worked as a delivery driver. That's when the 89-year-old man first came into the sight of the Herbert family. Judit Newey started delivering pizza in Roy, Utah, to help pay the bills, as his social security benefits (社会保障金) weren't enough to live on. From the moment the Herberts heard him say, "Hello, are you looking for some pizza, " Judit found his way into their hearts!

Ever since that day, whenever they place an order, they ask for Judit personally. It didn't take long for them to begin recording their sweet meetings and share them on TikTok, which is how thousands of other people fell in love with Judit. Still, his fans couldn't help but wonder why someone at his age was working so hard—question the Herbert family was asking themselves too. They spoke with Judit, and when they found out he works 30 hours a week to make ends meet, they decided to collect donations to make his life easier. They figured anything would help, but the total sum which is up to $12, 000 really surprised them!

In September, the couple decided to switch things up by showing up at Judit's door with a couple of gifts. First, they surprised him with a cute cartoon shirt of himself holding a pizza box. Then they revealed the surprising act of generosity that brought him to tears! They explained that they had rallied their TikTok community to support him, and while he's not entirely sure what the platform is, he couldn't be more thankful. 

"How do ever say thank you? I don't know what to say, "he told them. "I don't know what to say, except thank you. " The Herberts insisted they were just the messengers. It was his fans who made the wonderful gift possible. Plus, the way they see it, they're just repaying Judit for his kindness.

Last Friday, I was playing basketball with the friend on the court when I accidentally hit a passed student with the ball. I felt terribly and immediately apologized him. He was in pain and I knew I have to do something to help him. I offered to walk him to the nurse office and waited with him until he felt well than before. I was also carried his books and accompanied him for the rest of the day. I learned that in the future however happens, we should take responsibility for their actions and make things right.

At the age of 16, I went to Australia as an exchange student and lived with a host family. Even though I had made some preparations, the culture shock was still 1 .
