Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, has a rich history and culture. It has undergone continuous betterment and now (attract) a steady stream of visitors. Breathtaking (landscape), tea culture, and energetic ethnic (民族的) minorities are the three main features that define Guiyang and wider Guizhou, and visitors can enjoy them all in Qingzhen city, west of Guiyang.

AJ Donnelly, a British vlogger, visited Qingzhen to explore its characteristic customs and (invite) scenery.

In this video trip, AJ showed us around the Hongfeng Lake, which (surround) by beautiful red leaves in autumn, and China's newest social media hit, the Yangpi Cave Waterfall, which is famous its breathtaking Karst landforms.

In the Ludishao Tea Expo Garden, AJ buried (he) in tea aroma (芳香) and tried hand-picking his own tea.

AJ also visited the Maige Miao and Bouyei ethnic township, mainly live the "Four Seals Miao", branch of the Miao people. Their characteristic clothing made a surprise (appear) in Milan Fashion Week and served the world a visual feast.

Set a time

If you don't set a time, there's a chance you may put off exercise until you feel more motivated (有积极性的) or less tired. And the more often you do this, the harder it will become to turn your workouts into a habit.

Make it fun

You'll find it hard to make exercise a daily habit if you view it as a chore (苦差事), so make it fun. If you enjoy walking when it's quiet outside, take advantage of early mornings.

Reward (奖励) your efforts

Exercise takes effort, so reward that effort. If your gym shoes aren't up to the task, buy a new pair. Do whatever you can to make exercise a habit. Don't be hard on yourself.

Life will sometimes get in the way of your daily exercise routine (常规). But don't give up or give yourself a hard time. Just get back to working out as soon as you can.

D. Then give yourself a treat for keeping exercising.

When reading texts of several hundred words or more, learning is generally more successful when it's on paper than onscreen. A large amount of research confirms this finding. The benefits of print reading particularly shine through when experimenters move from posing simple tasks — like identifying the main idea in a reading passage — to ones that require mental abstraction — such as drawing inferences from a text.

The differences between print and digital reading results are partly related to paper's physical properties. With paper, there is a literal laying on of hands, along with the visual geography of distinct pages. People often link their memory of what they've read to how far into the book it was or where it was on the page.

But equally important is the mental aspect. Reading researchers have proposed a theory called "shallowing hypothesis (假说)". According to this theory, people approach digital texts with a mindset suited to social media, which are often not so serious, and devote less mental effort than when they are reading print.

Audio (音频) and video can feel more engaging than text, and so university teachers increasingly turn to these technologies — say, assigning an online talk instead of an article by the same person. However, psychologists have demonstrated that when adults read news stories, they remember more of the content than if they listen to or view identical pieces.

Digital texts, audio and video all have educational roles, especially when providing resources not available in print. However, for maximizing learning where mental focus and reflection are called for, educators shouldn't assume all media are the same, even when they contain identical words.

An 80-year-old man was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his 45-year-old highly educated son. Suddenly a crow (乌鸦) landed on their window.

The father asked his son, "What is this?" The son replied, "It is a crow." After a few minutes, the father asked his son for the second time, "What is this?" The son said, "Father, I told you just now. It's a crow."

After a little while, the father asked his son the same question for the third time, "What is this?" At this time, some expression of anger was felt in the son's tone when he said to his father. "It's a crow, a crow."

A little while later, the father again asked his son for the fourth time, "What is this?" This time his son shouted at his father, "Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again although I have told you so many times ‘IT IS A CROW'? Are you not able to understand this?"

A minute later the father went to his room and came back with a diary, which he had kept since his son was born. On opening a page, he asked his son to read that page:

Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa when a crow suddenly landed on the window. My son asked me 23 times what it was, and I replied to him all 23 times that it was a crow. I hugged him lovingly each time he asked me the same question. I didn't at all feel angry, but instead felt affection (喜爱) for my innocent (天真无邪的) son.

After reading the diary, the son was filled with tears and began to reflect on the days when he used to sit together with his father. His father would patiently answer the same question all 23 times without feeling angry while his father asked him the same question just four times! The son thought to himself, "If I am in old age, how will my son look at me? Will he think of me as a burden? Will he shout at me because of my poor sight, poor hearing or poor understanding?"
