My sister and I boarded a small plane together with 40 other passengers. Unluckily, while flying over the mountains, the plane met with violent airflow. Losing control suddenly, it hit an unknown mountain top. The crash killed a few passengers immediately, leaving many injured including my sister. In order to add a slight chance of being found, we waited in the open, as opposed to waiting in the plane, even though it was freezing cold. At night, we slept side by side to keep ourselves warm. We melted snow into water to drink. We knew our food could not last us long, sticking to the hope that we would be rescued soon. 

We knew from the radio that the outside world was trying to look for the missing aircraft. However, the aircraft was white and blended in with the snow, making it impossible to be seen for helicopters from the sky. Later, our hope was dead when we found out through our radio that the rescue effort ended. Most of us were very depressed though it was no use. 

Now climbing over the mountains ourselves to search for help seemed to be our only chance of survival. Although the crash site was an awful place，with urine（尿） everywhere and smelling of death, I still wished to stay there. But my sister would give in to her injuries soon if we were not rescued. Thus, together with two other people, Canossa and Vaginitis decided to walk through the icy wilderness for help. Carrying some food and water, we started our journey.

Spring cleaning is a common tradition during this time. The New Year celebration could also have been a way to break up the boredom of the long winter months. 

On Chinese New Year, families travel long distances to meet, known as Chunyun. Though the holiday is actually just a week long, traditionally it's celebrated as a 15-day holiday when firecrackers are lit and red lanterns glow at night. Many cities around the world hold New Year parades complete with dragon and lion dances. 

Local bamboo plantations in Europe have ensured that giant pandas in Belgium and the 

United Kingdom have been fed with enough fresh bamboo during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to zookeepers. 

Every week, there are about 1,000 kilograms of fresh bamboo delivered from a French bamboo plantation called La Bambouseraie to the Belgian zoo of Pairi Daiza where two giant pandas plus their three babies live. 

Mathieu Goedefroy, spokesman of the zoo, said "It is very important for us to be assured that we always and at every time are able to provide fresh bamboo of the highest quality for our dear pandas. That's why we decide to buy this growing house. "

Since 1856, when a botanist Eugene Mazel began his first plantings by making species from all the world used to the plantation, La Bamhouseraie has developed into a park growing more than 240 varieties of bamboo now. 

Of the 1,000 kilograms of bamboo delivered to the zoo each week, only a small part is eaten by the pandas. The other animals can consume the rest of it so that none is wasted. 

The story is similar in the U. K.‘s Edinburgh Zoo, where the fresh bamboo has been shipped from the Netherlands. Jo Elliot, the animal collection manager at the zoo, said, "We have made sure that our stores have enough supplies. The pandas need their bamboo. Most of it gets shipped in from the Netherlands, and at the moment that is fine. We are still getting deliveries. "

In early May, Canada's Calgary Zoo said it would have to send back two giant pandas to China, since fewer flights, as a result of COVID-19, were causing a lack of bamboo for the pandas. An adult giant panda eats about 35 kilograms of bamboo shoots, or kilograms of fresh bamboo and bamboo leaves daily. There was no locally grown bamboo in Calgary, so supplies of bamboo had relied on the shipments from China. 

"We have also contacted our workmates from Calgary, Canada," Goedefroy said. "We'll see if we could be of any help for them with our bamboo supplies. "

When I met and married a Japanese man in New York, I thought he would learn a bit more English and we would continue to live our lives there. But in life's twists and turns, we ended up living in Tokyo! I was the one who needed to learn Japanese and fast! There is no experience quite as lonely as living in a foreign country without a grasp of the language. Especially to make friends and to break that loneliness, it is the first and foremost goal to attain. . . always an uphill climb, while totally awkward!

I was a trained English Language teacher, and while I lived abroad I did that work, and when we moved back to America I planned to continue it. The country's financial difficulties at the time, however, saw deep cuts to the English as a second language in schools and to refugee language programs. So I simply took a job in a department store, at its Child Playroom. 

But this store was located near a major company that hired some of its workforce from many other countries. Often a preschooler in my playroom could not speak a word of English, and would look so lost and lonely! My heart flew to them! We interacted with each other a lot. We would play English language games and they would teach their language to me. 

Years later, when a small girl who had come from South America could speak good English, she said to me, "Teacher, remember when I called you Maestra?"Another child whose language was only Russian originally-we built a robot from blocks and fed it block food and learned English words that way-would come years afterwards and continue to play that same game! These moments became my life compass-due north is that place where when persons are different, Love Matters!
