For those have seen War for the Planet of the Apes, it's easy to come to this conclusion-the movie isn't about war or the planet, and it's not (necessary) even about the apes. The movie is about (survive) and the choices we all make when one wants to survive, good or bad.

With a story that should have been full of conflict and violence, it takes a different approach. You may find (you) exposed to small pockets of action. While recent sci-fi movies have become (know) for their action and scenes, War for the Planet of the Apes has taken science fiction  a thoughtful and intelligent direction.

War for the Planet of the Apes may not be the action and monster film that you had in mind, it's the kind of film that will make you want to sit in silence in the theater for a few minutes after it ends, taking in you've just witnessed.

The few movies that have that effect (be) usually about humans, but this film enables people (feel) that way about apes. And that is what makes it a masterpiece.

It's a memorable period when I lost a long time job. It happened in 2004, when our company announced the job 1 , facing the global economic crisis. We all 2 the insurance company we worked for was not as 3 as it used to be. Then, one day, I entered my office and was 4 I got fired.

During that week, I did almost nothing to change my situation, 5  renewing my old contacts with writers that I built when I worked as an experienced 6  many years ago. Beyond this, I remained a 7  unemployed loser. Soon enough, I received an order from a writer. Then I was 8  by a few more people who needed my services, and gradually my reputation recovered.

Though this 9 job couldn't support me long, I could make ends meet while 10 a job. During my hard times, I 11 a man from Japan, who wanted to have his novel translated into English quickly, and I 12 that. We worked together for a while. He inspired me to find new opportunities from 13 companies instead of the same ones. I started to look at the world from another 14 ; I figured out what I truly wanted, and 15 the thought that "the man is for work, not the work for the man".

It's sometimes hard to understand a teenager. It's even harder if a teenager doesn't agree with you.

Listen to what the teenager has to say. While you may not entirely agree with what he's saying, the tension will be lessened if the teenager feels like you are listening and trying to understand him. Also, he might return the favor and give you the chance to talk as well. It's best to have a conversation where both of your opinions matter rather than fight and possibly hurt each other in the process.

Understand that while teenager may appear grown up and perhaps even sound matured, his mind has not fully developed, and he cannot think like an adult all the time. However, this doesn't mean you're completely right or he deserves to be ridiculed or treated like a child.

However, remember that the teenager should understand when "no" is "no". Avoid bringing up a compromise every time you disagree on something. This might teach him that he can always get away with what he wants, whenever he wants it.

If the conversation launches into an argument, stop it. Tell him that you both need to calm down and think clearly or the problem will never be solved. If he refuses to listen and continues arguing, step out of the room and allow time for both of you to settle down. Do not scold him or shout back. Your words will possibly be lost on the teenager since you both are too angry to listen to each other.

My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's(老年痴呆症) last summer.Suddenly, it was difficult for me to accept that the roles were now reversed-my mother became my child, and I became her mother.I became impatient, argued with her, once I even yelled at her.Gradually, I was used to this kind of life.Now I am able to deal with her and the situation better.I have learned a lot of life lessons from the experience.

My mother reacts very sensitively to my feelings.That is typical of Alzheimer's patients.When I visit her, feeling busy and tense, she reacts immediately, takes on my mood, and becomes nervous and negative.But when I appear cheerful and attentive, she is happy.This has taught me to pay more attention to my own feelings when I am with other people.

I have also learned that everything has special value.When my mother got sick, I didn't want to burden my two daughters with it.They are young and have enough going on with their education and starting their careers.I felt that it was simply my job as my mother's daughter.The most wonderful discovery I've made through my mother's disease may be that my children not only offer to help me when they sense that I'm feeling overwhelmed, but that they take care of my mother on their own initiative(主动地).They visit her often, play cards with her, and look at photo albums together with her.It shows me that it's all worth it.

BEIJING－China's space industry will develop quickly over the next 10 years as the country pushes ahead with its space programs after its first space docking on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011.

Lab modules, a space station and 10 to 20 spaceships will be launched into space over the next 10 years, the Shanghai Securities News said on Friday.

The country will spend around 300 billion yuan ($47.47 billion) in producing those spacecrafts, according to the newspaper.

There are 20 or so space voyages being planned in China，the newspaper reported, citing Wu Ping, spokeswoman of China's manned space program.There will be an increased demand for spacecraft production and launch services.Space infrastructure (基础设施)has been included as one of China's strategic new industries to be developed over the next five years.

China started its threestage manned space program in 1992.In the first stage the country sent the astronaut, Yang Liwei, into space as part of the Shenzhou­5 mission in 2003.It was the first time for China to send a person into space.

Also as part of the first stage, two astronauts conducted extravehicular (太空船外的) activities during the Shenzhou­7 mission in 2008.

Now during the second stage China is focusing on space docking.It achieved its first space docking in two hours of Thursday when Tiangong1 and Shenzhou8 connected in space.As a "target spacecraft"for meeting and docking experiments, Tiangong1 will work as a platform to test longterm unmanned and shortterm manned operations.The next significant events will be the launching of Shenzhou9 and Shenzhou 10, with two similar docking exercises to be conducted and one of the missions to be manned.

China will complete the second stage after it builds its own space lab around 2016, Wu said.

In the third stage, China plans to develop and launch multiple space modules, forming a 60­ton manned space station in 2020.

"The successful docking means China will enter a period of massive production of spacecraft.The space economy is about to take off, m" according to Dongxing Securities.

I am a strong believer that if a child is raised with approval (认可) he learns to love himself and will be successful in his own way.

Several weeks ago, I was doing homework with my son in the third grade and he kept standing up from his chair. I kept asking him to sit down, telling him that he would concentrate (集中注意力) better. He sat but seconds later, as if he didn't even notice he was doing it, he got up again. I was getting angry, but then it hit me: I started noticing his answers were much quicker and right when he stood up. Could he concentrate better while standing up?

This made me start questioning myself and what I had been raised to believe. I grew up to believe that a quiet child was more likely to succeed. This child would have the ability to study hard, get good grades and become someone important in life. Kids that were active and loud would only be losers.

Now people perhaps come to realize that their kids are born with their own sets of DNA, and all they can do is loving and accepting them. As parents, throughout their growing years and beyond that, we need to guide them and help them find their way.

I have stopped asking my son to sit down and concentrate. Clearly, he is concentrating, just in his own way and not mine. We need to accept our kids, and their ways of doing things. There is nothing sweeter than seeing our children being themselves. It makes us happy and that's just the way I want my kids to live a happy life.

But Mary told him, "Keith, you cannot keep the handphone. What will you tell Father about this? He will ask you how you got the handphone. "

In May of 1886, 400,000 workers in many parts of the USA went on strike, demanding an eight-hour working day. The strike started (peaceful), but on the third day of protests in Chicago, there was some violence. The police shot at unarmed workers, (kill) several of them. The next day there were more protests and someone threw a bomb. Seven police officers and four workers were killed by the bomb. The person threw the bomb was never identified, but eight workers were arrested. Seven of them were sentenced to (die), and one of them was sent to prison for 15 years.

Many people didn't believe the men were (guilt), and the trial was criticized for being unfair. On this day, socialist parties and trade unions called for workers (demonstrate) for the eight-hour day and in favour of peaceful protest. I love and enjoy playing the piano. So when the recital (音乐演奏会) was 1 , I was disappointed. I had expected it for long and already 2  my best songs.

Thirsty or stressed plants do not suffer in silence. Instead, they make high-pitched(尖锐的) sounds, according to a study published in the journal Cell.  

The reason why you have probably never heard the plants' sounds is that most humans are only able to hear sounds as high as 20 kilohertz (kHz), but the plants made sounds mostly between 40 and 80 kHz, Lilach Hadany, a co-author of the study at Tel Aviv University, tells Business Insider's Marianne Guenot.

Plants, obviously, do not have organs to make sounds. Lilach says, the present popular theory on how they make noises centers on plants' xylem(木质部), the tubes that transport water from their roots to their stems and leaves. In the process of transporting, when an air bubble(气泡) forms or breaks in the xylem, it might make a little noise; bubbles are more likely to form when a plant is suffering from drought. But the exact process requires further study, Lilach explains.

To listen in to plants, Lilach and her co-workers placed tobacco and tomato plants in small boxes equipped with microphones. First, they stopped providing water to some plants in the boxes and cut the stems of others. Then, the microphones were used to pick up any noises made by the plants even though they couldn't hear them. Researchers found that the sounds did show the specific types of stresses plants were experiencing. Thirsty tomato and tobacco plants made an average of about 35 and 11 sounds per hour, individually, while cut tomato and tobacco plants made 25 and 15 noises per hour.

In theory, these recorded sounds could help farmers know about which crops are most in need of water. "When more and more areas are exposed to drought due to climate change, efficient water use becomes even more important, for both food security and ecology," Lilach with her co-workers write.

Environmental groups have long criticized the private jets (喷气式飞机) for being a large contributor to global carbon dioxide emissions, and last week, environmentalists made headlines by interrupting a private jet trade show in Switzerland. 

Private jets often cover shorter distances than commercial(商业的) ones. They are generally less efficient and their emissions per passenger are much higher. According to data from European non-profit Transport and Environment, private jets can be 5 to 14 times more polluting than commercial planes, and 50 times more polluting than trains. Research made by Greenpeace showed that private jets in Europe alone emitted 3.39 million metric tons of CO2 in 2022, nearly equal to the emissions from 753,000 gas-powered cars in the US driven for a year. 

But experts say the private aviation(航空) industry can still play a role in the global fight against climate change, and some in the industry are looking at creative ways to diminish its environmental impact. 

As a member of the International Air Transport Association(IATA), along with other major commercial airlines, Dubai-based private aviation company Jetex launched the 2050 Project: the zero carbon emissions. 

"Jetex is always thinking about how to cooperate with everyone to deal with climate change," said Dr. Suzanne, a professor of aviation at the University of Waterloo. "And now it is working on changing all of its locations into fully green ones in the future. Once it succeeds, it will offer a new approach to the environmental protection. "

Through a partnership with oil company Neste, in 2021 Jetex started offering sustainable aviation fuels(SAF), made from renewable waste, to passengers at its Helsinki Airport. That same year at its Paris Le-Bourget Airport, it began offering SAF produced by French company TotalEnergies, made from used cooking oil. A limited supply of SAF means it isn't available at every airport, but the company says it wants to make SAF a fuel option to its travelers across all its locations worldwide.

During school life, Muhammad Tariq Khan developed an interest in playing badminton. Unfortunately, the school did not have a coach, so he had to teach himself the sport. His dedication helped him become an under 12 Pakistan Champion at the age of 10. 

Coming from a working-class family, Khan had to work in a factory to earn money for his family. But driven by his passion, Khan found out ways to watch other players play matches on the badminton court and he learned various techniques used by experienced players. Meanwhile, Khan practiced badminton by hitting the badminton against the walls of his home. Seeing his passion for the sport, his family bought him a net, a few wooden rackets, and a pack of shuttlecocks to practice at home. Later, Khan often practiced in an open court. To build up strength, he went on daily morning running by the riverside. 

His intense practice sessions had made him so skilled that he courageously attacked and played against the top­ranked players. Soon he became a known player. Although he had a supportive family, he could not take up badminton as a full­time career. In order to help his father with finances and shoulder responsibility for his brothers and sisters, he had to switch his focus to building a long-lasting and stable career to sustain his family. After completing his degree in Bachelor of Commerce from Sindh University in 1964, he joined the Pakistan International Airlines in 1967. As an adult, he acknowledged the importance of his duties and performed them with great enthusiasm. Despite his daily office routine, Khan did not lose his passion for sports and played regularly. 

The journey of Khan's achieving his goals is indeed challenging. His family had spent their initial days in a refugee (难民) camp. Khan ever walked long distances from college to his house to avoid using public transport to save cash to buy shuttlecocks.

Today he has been recognized by many reputable Pakistani platforms for his contribution to badminton. His personality is inspirational for many young individuals, who can learn from him the art of balancing life pressures and sticking to a passion!

Meryl Streep was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in this movie as a wife and mom who struggles with cancer. Renée Zellweger plays the grown daughter who has to come home to help with the holiday. The two try to hold the family together, especially during a tense Thanksgiving meal when guests get all the attention. 

The Gold Rush (1925)

Charlie Chaplin as the Little Tramp eats his shoe for Thanksgiving dinner while trapped in a snowstorm in this endearing silent film classic from1925. Watch this one if you're in the mood to see a leather shoe prepared and eaten as if it were a delicious turkey. It makes you grateful for what you have!
