As online technology advanced, web sites, and blogs became powerful sources of information that allowed everyone to stay updated on any subject imaginable. Although all of these information sources remain popular, there's a new king of media and it's online video.

There are many reasons why online video has increased suddenly over the past few years. The first is increasing data speeds. Once faster Internet speeds were provided, people quickly fell in love with online videos. The second reason why online videos have become so popular is convenience. Watching videos requires less effort and energy than reading through paragraphs of text after a day of hard work.

Advancing digital technology has also helped, as it has made sharing videos easier and more convenient than ever. High-powered smartphones and more affordable video cameras allow anyone to easily record an event or give a few comments about a scorching topic that is on their mind. Meanwhile, sites like YouTube, Vimeo, and Ustream allow users to quickly upload their videos and share them with friends, family, and the general public if they wish.

The future also looks bright for companies who post online video ads. In fact, new software allows them to watch viewers' emotional reactions to their content through the users' webcams (网络摄像机).They'll be able to see whether users laugh, cry, or feel bored during videos, so they can adjust their ads. This should prove extremely helpful, as there will be millions of videos competing for viewers' attention.

(1)、Why do some people prefer watching videos to reading after work?
A、It helps them save time. B、It helps them review the news. C、It helps them get information with relative ease. D、It provides them with much more information.
(2)、What does the underlined word "scorching" in Paragraph 3 mean?
    A、Unusual. B、Future. C、Hot. D、Social.
(3)、How will the software mentioned in the last paragraph help companies in the future?
A、It will make people like their videos. B、It will cause viewers to create more popular videos. C、It will let more viewers see the advertisements they make. D、It will enable them to better understand what customers enjoy.
(4)、Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A、Online Video: The New King of Media. B、Online Technology is Developing Fast. C、Online Video: A New Advertising Trend. D、Online Technology is Closely Related to People.

Small endangered animals are often hard to find in their natural habitats, making it difficult for scientists to spot(发现) them and develop protection plans. But new technologies can help. Australian researchers have equipped flying drones (遥控飞机) with cameras so they can spot koalas hiding high in trees.

Koalas spend most of their lives in eucalyptus trees (桉树), whose leaves are their favorite food. Since the leaves are low in calories and nutritional content, koalas are not very active — they sleep up to 20 hours a day. Living in high branches, they are not easy to spot from the ground, and they have few natural predators (捕食者). The greatest threat to them is that lots of trees are being cut down. "Every tree in Australia must be protected. Otherwise the koala is going to become extinct," said Deborah Tabart.

It's important to know where koalas live and how many of them are left. Using drones with cameras to do the research was an untested concept. Gavin Broadbent, one of the scientists, said they were doubtful at first. "But when we saw the images , we saw the koalas were very clear compared to the trees and the environment. So we thought, yes, this is absolutely a proof of a concept that could work," he said.

The images sent back to a computer clearly show the animal's position, even from a distance far enough away not to disturb its sleep. Scientists can scan the trees from all angles, picking out koalas even in the thick branches .

Scientists say it is now clear that drones with cameras can be used for spotting, and perhaps saving other animals in the wild.

(1)、What can we learn about koalas from the second paragraph?
A、Koalas have nothing to eat but eucalyptus leaves. B、Koalas' food is high in calories, so they are fat. C、Koalas like to jump from one tree to another. D、Koalas live in high branches so they are difficult to spot.
(2)、What is making the number of koalas decrease?
A、Hunting. B、Their natural predators. C、Destruction of their habitat. D、Climate change.
(3)、Which of the following is not true about the new method to spot koalas?
A、The concept of this new method has been tested by researchers. B、The pictures shot by the cameras clearly show koalas' position. C、It can be carried out without disturbing koalas' sleep. D、The koalas in the thick branches can be picked out with this method.
(4)、What does the text mainly talk about?
A、Koalas Live happily in Australia. B、Drones help scientists spot endangered koalas. C、Measures must be taken to protect koalas' habitat. D、The Number of the koalas is decreasing sharply.

I travel a lot in my work, and what I dislike about my job is eating alone. It always makes me feel lonely to see others laughing and talking. So, room service for several nights was a better choice for me.

After having room service three nights at a hotel in Houston, however, I needed to get out of my room. Although the restaurant opened at 6:30, I arrived at 6:25. The waiter at the front desk made a comment about my "being there really early". I explained my dislike of eating alone in restaurants. He then seated me at a lovely table and asked me whether I would mind if he sat down with me for a while.

I was glad! He sat and talked with me about his career goals and the difficulty of being at work on nights, weekends and holidays. He said he hadn't enough time to be with his family. After 15 minutes, he saw some customers at the front desk and excused himself. I noticed that before he went to the front desk, he stopped in the kitchen for a moment.

Then another waiter came out of the kitchen and had a wonderful chat with me. Before I left that night, some other waiters, even the cook, had come out of the kitchen and sat with me!

When I asked for my bill about one hour later, all the people who had sat down with me came over in a big group to my table, and presented me with a red rose. And I cried! What had begun as a lonely night ended as a beautiful experience.

(1)、Why did the author ask for room service ?
A、Because a lot of money would be saved in this way. B、Because he didn't like to eat with other people around. C、Because he didn't want to be recognized by the waiters. D、Because seeing people laughing and talking made him feel bad.
(2)、How did the waiter feel when he saw the author come in at 6:25?
    A、Dissatisfied. B、Pleased. C、Surprised. D、Angry.

A、He was getting tired of his present job. B、He found it hard to balance his work and his family. C、He knew how to attract more customers to his restaurant. D、He had never had such a chance to talk about his worries.
(4)、What does the author want to tell us?
A、People are actually all lonely in their own way. B、Restaurants should put the need of customers first. C、The kindness of strangers can make you less lonely. D、Restaurants are always full of surprises for lonely people.

"Why she let out my secret? Why she did that to me?" I vividly remembered that day when I was confused at the knowing looks everyone gave me. That terrible experience was impressed on my mind. I couldn't forgive the person with whom I had shared my secret. She lost all my trust and friendship.

Five years back, Sally was a new addition in my class. I didn't know what but there was something sticky about her that attracted me towards her. She was the most friendly person I knew. We started as classmates but after a few months, we were like best friends. We did homework together and dreamed of going to the same university one day. We hung out and went to the movies on weekends. That was a sweet time.

Nevertheless, I couldn't expect such an enormous betrayal (背叛) from her. I didn't know what made me tell Sally about my personal life. I felt much regret to myself. She exaggerated (夸大) the matter, added her own spices to it and made it the hottest topic in school. It was like someone had stabbed (戮) a knife in my back. After she let out my secret, everyone at school started laughing at me and gazing at me wherever I passed. I was like a pond in which someone had thrown a stone and it had been spilled up. It was the most embarrassing time I had gone through. Soon afterwards. I left school and shifted to another one because I thought no one had the right to laugh at me. Sally called me many times, but I didn't answer. My heart was broken because the person whom I trusted most cheated me.

I made efforts to remove the scar from my heart. I started a new life, leaving all the bad memories behind because they made me a person who often thought about the past experiences. Five years later, with the life going on, I met new friends and seldom thought about the past.

    注意:1. 续写词数应为150词左右;2. 请按如下格式在以下位置作答。

Paragraph 1: But one day I met Anna, my former classmate, in the market, who told me shocking news.

Two hundred years ago the English poet William Wordsworth wrote I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud, a poem that was inspired when he came across a field of daffodils (水仙花). It 1  a basic spirit of early English Romanticism (浪漫主义).

For him, nature is not only a neutral (无感情色彩的) 5 of scenery, colors, plants, rocks, soil, water and air. As university doors opened in September for a new year, an estimated six million people across the world took to the streets in a historic week of climate action. For freshers starting a new chapter at university, deciding how to live your life is vital.

What you put on your plate matters. Meat and dairy consumption results in excessive (过度的) land use, industrial emissions, water use and deforestation. Therefore, a meat-free diet has been recommended as the "single-biggest way" an individual can reduce their impact on the planet.

Keeping your clothes for as long as possible has more than just monetary value. In the UK, clothing has the fourth-largest environmental impact after housing, transport and food. So recycle your clothes or mend them.

Change your habits. There are simple ways you can change your habits to live sustainably. Wash your clothes at a lower temperature, and choose a bamboo toothbrush or more eco-friendly sanitary (卫生的) products. If you're planning a weekend away with friends, try to travel by train or bus.

Individual actions matter, as they demonstrate commitment and provide an alternative to how we can live. But campaigning is important, too. If you don't know where or how to start, see if there are any societies at your university. Students of the Fossil Free campaign, for example, have brought on huge changes by calling on their institutions to stop using fossil fuels.

    A. Forget fast fashion.

    B. Behave yourself in public.

    C. While shopping, turn up with your own container.

    D. University campus can be a perfect place for this.

    F. Here are some ideas about how you can be sustainable as a student.

As AI art generators take the world by storm, some people wonder if their works should count as art at all. The technology is still developing and has some wrinkles to iron out (消除), which means there are indeed flaws to consider alongside the incredible artwork a good artificial intelligence can produce.

Art is classed as the product of imagination, skill, experience, and emotion, usually meant to represent something for the public to enjoy. Artists spent time and effort putting their inner worlds onto these works. Machine intelligence also puts a lot of work into sorting through tons of data, linking someone's prompt (指令) to datasets, and trying to represent it as best as possible. The difference is that the AI is driven by commands instead of an emotional desire to express itself.

AI painters can produce over 1,000 original works of art with every tap of the enter key on a keyboard. But a mass-produced print of the Mona Lisa is worth less than the actual Leonardo da Vinci's painting. Why? Scarcity — there's only one of the original. Should anyone pay for these things? And if an artist puts AI masterpieces up for sale, what should the price be?

AI art involves a program mimicking (模仿) the work of existing artists to create a new piece according to the request of a human. But who made the artwork, the machine or its user? And can the original artists sue for (控告) copyright violation? Such questions complicate the merging of artificial intelligence and the art industry, while fueling arguments against recognizing AI-generated art as marketable artistic products.

Once we've answered those questions, we can tackle the really big one: When an AI-generated painting wins an award, who gets the prize?

(1)、How is Al art different from human art?
A、It is the product of experience. B、It combines different styles of work. C、It is not a mirror of artists' emotions. D、It doesn't cost much money to produce.
(2)、Why does the writer mention Mona Lisa in paragraph 3?
A、To present the potential trouble with the value of Al art. B、To introduce a new way of preserving art masterpieces. C、To show the advantages of Al painters over human artists. D、To prove the popularity of classic artworks among viewers.
(3)、What can we infer from paragraph 4?
A、AI art promotes the sale of artistic products. B、AI art makes copyright issues more complicated. C、Artists can create more works with the help of AI. D、There will be fierce competition in the art industry.
