A digital exhibition spotlighting Niya ruins site in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, is set to open to public on Jan. 25 in Shanghai, offering visitors unique immersive experience on the site's excavation (挖掘) while learning about the region's ancient cultures.

Running until July 25, the exhibition is hosted by the publicity department of the city's Huangpu district and the Xinjiang Museum. It's OK to get a little messy while celebrating this holiday in India.

If you ever visit India and someone throws colored powder over you, it means that you have arrived during the Indian festival of Holi. (know) as the festival of colors, Holi (celebrate) on the last full moon in the lunar month of Phalguna (闰月), usually in March. This ancient tradition marks the end of winter and honors the victory of good evil. The night before Holi, people burn fires (say) goodbye to winter. They gather at temples to sing and dance to music. During the festival, families also prepare guiya, a dumpling-like sweet that's filled with dried (fruit) and nuts.

But the real fun starts on the day of Holi. That's people throw gual—bright powders and water—at anybody and everybody. These colored powders have special meaning: Red dye symbolizes love; blue represents Indian god Krishna, and green stands for new beginnings. During the festival, people often wear one of their (old) shirts because they know they can't avoid (hit). For days afterward, stains remain on people's clothes.

Indian people around the world celebrate this ancient tradition, including in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Suriname, South Africa Malaysia. And people in the United States and the United Kingdom throw Holi parties, too!
