If you are someone who suffers from exam anxiety, you are not alone. Some levels of stress are normal, and they do serve a purpose. Stress can improve your school performance, encourage you to think more quickly and get you to study more efficiently. However, high levels of stress and anxiety have harmful effects on both your mental health and performance. Fortunately, there are things you can do to try and relieve exam anxiety.

Simply being aware of what is causing your anxiety can help you reduce exam anxiety. Take some time to think about what could be causing your anxiety. Once you know the causes, you will be clear about how to treat it.

Revision is about revisiting things you have learned before, not teaching yourself a new topic. If you feel you are really behind, you could turn to a private teacher. For example, you are struggling with English, and you have no idea how to begin your revision, then an English teacher is advisable.

Maybe you have been fine the whole time, and you haven't felt any anxiety. Then you walk into the exam hall, and it rushes over you. Firstly, make sure that you do everything to keep you physically comfortable. Have you been to the toilet? Are you too hot or too cold?

Then take some deep breaths. Remember that most people will be nervous; it's natural. So just focus on your exam.

Jeff's sister had always remained supportive of Jeff's decisions. She stayed in contact with their father, but Jeff had made her promise that she would not share any information about his life with him. 

The day when the graduation ceremony came, I, as the president of Students' Union, took charge of seating the guests before it started. Suddenly. I noticed a man with a confused expression.

"Excuse me," he said as he politely approached me. "What is happening here today?"

"It's graduation day," I replied, smiling. "Well, that's odd," he said, "my daughter asked me to meet her at this address." His eyes sparkled and he smiled. "Maybe she completed her associate's degree and wanted to surprise me!" I helped him find a seat.

Many people go crazy trying to figure out how to spend time with friends, family, work, play, etc.  Find ways to enjoy them in a combined manner. Build your social life around people in your work environment. Find people in your company who share common interests and develop your career (职业) around the people and activities you love. 

You would think learning takes more time from you, but actually there are always new ways of doing things that can save you time on daily tasks, freeing you up for the most important. Always be looking for a new way to gain back an hour here or there. 

Lighten up.

The world won't come to an end in most cases just because you left a few things undone. Celebrate progress and keep refining (改进) toward a happy productive existence.  Every completion is a small victory that adds up in a big way.

When you go running in the woods in your running tights, elastane (氨纶) is the reason why they fit you so comfortably. Elastane is an elastic material that allows the fabric to stretch and adapt to your body.

But when elastane fibres are mixed with cotton, wool, nylon or other fibres, as is the case in many clothes today, the clothes become almost impossible to recycle. It is extremely difficult to separate out the different fibres, and therefore the materials in the clothes cannot be recycled.

But this may change, says Assistant Professor Steffan Kvist Kristensen from the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center at Aarhus University. Together with a number of colleagues, he is behind a new technology that can separate out fibres in mixed fabrics.

"We've developed a method to remove elastane completely from nylon. We're not quite there yet with cotton, because some of the cotton fibres are broken down in the process. But we believe that, with some minor adjustments, we can solve this problem," he says. 

It is not easy to separate elastane and other fibres once they have been woven(编织) together. Clothes are made by winding the main fibres, such as nylon or cotton, around the elastane fibres, which consist of long chains of molecules (分子). The fibres only break apart if we break the long chains of molecules, explains Steffan Kvist Kristensen.

By heating the clothes to 225 degrees Celsius and adding a specific alcohol, the researchers have found a method to break down the bonds in elastane chain. When this happens, the chains fall apart and the materials separate. "The whole process takes place in what is in effect a large pressure cooker that we feed the clothes into. We then add a little alcohol and a potassium hydroxide(氢氧化钾) base and heat it up. Then we let it cook for just over four hours, and when we open the lid again, the different fibres will have been separated." says Steffan Kvist Kristensen.

So far, Steffan Kvist Kristensen and his colleagues have only experimented with two nylon stockings at a time. The technology is therefore not yet ready for application at industrial scale.
