A leading company in the field of boat engines that run on electricity is working on a new type of bright-orange propeller (螺旋桨) made from reused plastic. This initiative is designed not only to cut down on the release of harmful gases from their future boat engines but also to help clean up the plastic mess in our oceans.
According to a study by a group that cares about nature from 2022, a very small part of the huge amount of plastic trash made by people in the US in 2021 was changed into something new. The best year for recycling was 2014, but since then, things have gotten worse. This company wants to change that and says a lot of plastic trash ends up in our rivers and lakes, and then in the oceans.
While some people are working on picking up plastic from the water, this company wants to stop plastic from getting into the water in the first place. They want to make it so that using recycled plastic is a viable solution to make new products and it makes financial sense.
To do this, the company has set up a special team called the Advanced Engineering Team. Their job is to find new ways to make things that are good for the environment. One of their first jobs is to make a new kind of propeller that is good for the planet by using plastic that has already been used. The project director said, "Usually, when we start using new materials, we use just a little bit of recycled stuff. But we decided to do more. We made our test propellers all from plastic that was found in the ocean, and they did really well in our tests."
The leader of the company, who cares about the environment, says they're working on away to reuse plastic many times. They want to turn trash into something helpful. It's important that people are willing to buy products made from recycled plastic. The company believes that using recycled materials won't affect the quality of what they make.

A Japanese producer of milk and dairy products came up with an innovative way of motivating kids to finish their milk bottles at lunch-decorating the bottles with comics.
The producer has been supplying its products to local schools, but in recent years, the company has seen a significant drop in milk consumption. According to their research, the majority of high school students (around 65%) were not finishing their milk bottles at lunch, leading to unnecessary food waste. Not finishing their milk meant they might lack calcium and other valuable nutrients. However, as many parents know, getting teenagers to consume healthy foods isn't always easy. Fortunately, the company came up with an original and fun way to motivate students to finish their milk—comic bottles.
If you're familiar with Japanese pop culture, comics are popular among people of different ages and backgrounds. This widespread appeal inspired the company to use comics as the main attraction for their milk bottles. They teamed up with a comic studio to produce an original and engaging comic series and printed it on their transparent milk bottles. Students could only read the comics after emptying the bottles of their nutritious content. The comics are printed on the bottles in white ink, so they are only visible once the bottles are emptied of milk.
Although students technically don't have to drink the milk to access the comic art on the bottles, the company definitely deserves credit for their innovative solution to this delicate problem.
(1)、Why have the company's milk sales fallen in recent years?A、Students have drunk less milk. B、The price of milk has been too high. C、Milk has had too many nutrients. D、The number of students has been declining.(2)、What motivates the company to paint comics on the bottles?A、Parents' advice. B、Partner's cooperation. C、Marketing strategy. D、Popularity of comics.(3)、What can be inferred from the last paragraph?A、Consuming milk is a must. B、Innovation needs technology. C、Students may still waste milk. D、The company will think up more ideas.(4)、What can we learn from the text?A、It's never too late to mend. B、Many heads make light work. C、Innovation can solve problems. D、Producers should make more products -

It was snowing so hard that it was difficult to see, but he could tell the dogs were wearing collars and tags. What were they doing out here on this stretch of wooded road, when it was too cold for dogs to go outside? Gus parked his truck and approached the animals. He squatted(蹲下) and stretched out his hands to the beagles, which made no effort to escape. He read their tags by his truck's headlights: The female was named Pepper, and the male was Cooper. He pulled out his phone to call the number listed, but it was snowing so hard that his screen blurred.
He placed the dogs in his truck, on the floorboards on the passenger side. By the time he came around to the driver's side, they had climbed onto the passenger seat and were snuggled(依偎) together there. Gus dried his phone, snapped a picture of the pair and sent it to his wife, Katic Kiebcl.
Then he dialed the number from the dogs' tags. A man answered and immediately grew defensive when Gus told him why he was calling."I gave those dogs away," the man said." They' re not mine anymore."
" Well, do you want them back?"
" No. I can't take care of them." The man hung up.

A fixed mindset of interest can harm creativity and innovation. If people believe they are limited to only a few particular interests and, in consequence, do not explore other areas, they may miss seeing important connections across different dimensions Those who with a growth mindset are also more likely to be creative when solving problems.
In June, we published findings from an intervention that succeeded in that aim. In two studies involving more than 700 first- year liberal arts undergraduates, we began by assessing how our participants saw themselves. The majority held strong interests in the arts, humanities and social sciences.
We then randomly assigned students to either our intervention or a study skills module. Our intervention included reading and reflective writing activities that helped students think about interests and passions as cultivated rather than as simply found and fixed. The study skills module had a similar set of exercises but with an emphasis on building classic skills, such as time management and active learning.
These students were required to take at least one math and science course during their first year. That meantwe could check how the intervention may have influenced their perspectives on math and science.
By the end of the year, students who had received the intervention were more interested in their required math and science courses than those who received the study skills module—— and this boost was particularly apparent among students who initially reported that they were not a" math- and- science person". These students became more skilled in math and science and grew into interdisciplinary(跨学科的) scholars.
A. So can a growth mindset of interest be taught?
B. How can a growth mindset of interest be cultivated?
C. Meanwhile, a growth mindset of interest comes with many advantages.
D. Moreover, most reported that they were not a" math- and- science person"
E. They also earned better grades in courses than those receiving the study skills module.
F. However, a growth mindset of interest can fuel people's further exploration to different fields.
G. For example, students read an article stating the benefits of viewing interests as developable.

Lord Norman Foster, renowned as one of the world's foremost architects, has devoted decades to redefining the concept of tall buildings." What we've done is create a sense of identify draw n from real needs," Foster said." It's not a fashionable idea, but generated from the realities we were in." His masterpiece includes iconic structures such
as the HSBC building in Hong Kong. Now, he's set his sights on Qatar.
Currently nearing completion and set to reach a height of 301 meters, Foster's Lusail Towers are ready to claim the title of Oatar's tallest buildings. Lusail Towers are intended to serve as a center for Oatar's financial institutions, with four distinctive blocks, two standing at 70 stories and two at 50 stories.
But the construction itself wasn't all plain sailing. To address the unique challenges presented by Oatar's hot climate, Foster's team had to depart from the materials commonly used in skyscrapers in cooler countries—— part of what Foster called a decades- long quest to" reinvent the tall building." The design combines advanced shading with ventilation (通风), while the towers' surfaces are coated with" marine- grade" aluminum(铝) that wraps around the buildings, protecting the glass from strong sunlight while maintaining the views and still letting in natural light. Central to the project are special shading fins(鳍), which not only optimize views and natural lighting for occupants but reduce solar radiation by 70% compared to traditional all- glass towers.
While the towers are ready to become a recognizable landmark for Lusail, Foster believes that a city's skyline reflects what lies beneath the surface. It was crucial to integrate the towers into a" low- scale master plan." They are strategically positioned on top of a subway line and at the end of a commercial avenue linking the waterfront to the nearby football stadium. According to Foster, the ground features of the plaza will play a significant role in the objective of transforming the area into a lively public space for the future

B、Coating the tower with an unconventional material. C、Reducing the views and natural lighting with shading fins. D、Protecting the glass from natural light and solar radiation.(4)、What's the goal of" low- scale master plan"?A、To link the waterfront to the football stadium. B、To create a remarkable plaza for the citizens. C、To offer a dynamic public space for the future. D、To connect a subway and a commercial avenue.
