You might have seen Family Guy, American Dad on the television many times but have you ever wondered if it gets any crazier than this? These shows come from the brilliant mind of Seth MacFarlane, one of the best American producers and writers of our time. He started his career as the creator of Family Guy and then rose to fame from there.

In these past years, Seth MacFarlane has proved one thing—There is nothing in this world that he can't do. He is a modern-day Renaissance man. Seth has made his mark on Hollywood with his unique talents and humor.

Is there anything that Seth MacFarlane can't do? Here are some of the facts that you don't know about the veteran producer.

Seth MacFarlane narrowly escaped death during 9/11, seems almost unreal, right? He was supposed to be in one of the two flights that were hijacked and collided with the twin towers on September 11,2009. Since he was hung over, he was given the wrong departure time. Later, he arrived at the airport 10 minutes late and missed his flight. After missing the plane he went to the passenger lounge to rest, upon waking up he witness the horrifying news about the massacre of 9/11. When both planes crashed into the World Trade Center, the airline announced which planes were involved in this horrid event. MacFarlane then realized that he was supposed to be in the second plane.

Family Guy and American Dad isn't Seth MacFarlane's first rodeo with animation. He showed a unique kind of love and passion for animation from a very young age. He actually submitted one of his drawings to a local newspaper. He was so talented that the newspaper company was impressed by his skills. The company hired him and he used to draw for them once a week for$5.

Seth MacFarlane currently stars in The Orville, a comedy sci-fi series that he himself wrote and created. He stars as the captain of the infamous space ship whereas his ex-wife in the show is the first officer. The Orville is something that Seth wanted to create since childhood. The series is a hit which is definitely not a surprise, MacFarlane revealed that the series is made to incorporate the optimism that Star Trek actually embodied, especially in these times when only dark sci-fi shows are streaming.

The ocean covers more than 70% of Earth's surface, yet around 80% of the ocean remains unexplored. To put it simply, we know very little about most of the ocean. Seafloor mapping is the first step to uncovering the mysteries of the deep. Sea floor maps increase the scope, efficiency, and pace of deep-sea exploration, keeping scientists and boats from "flying blind."

A vital part of exploring the seafloor is mapping the density of the ocean crust. But probing the ocean's crust requires a significant wave source. The most common method for determining crustal structure is also controversial — firing seismic air guns from ships. While this method is effective, it is potentially harmful to marine life and not easy to use.

The song of the fi n whale is one of the loudest in the animal kingdom, and is detectable over great distances. Their low-frequency calls generate more than 185 decibels(分贝) underwater, on par with a large ship. Part of the energy of this powerful song transmits into the ground as a seismic wave. The wave travels through the oceanic crust where it reflects and refracts off layers in the crustal interface. Ocean-bottom seismometers(地震计) off the coast of Oregon picked up on the seismic waves of these fin whale calls. Researchers Kun a and John Nábelek, from Oregon State University, analyzed six whale songs. Using these signals, the team was able to map the thickness of sediment and rock on the ocean floor.

While fi n whale songs are never going to replace seismic air guns entirely, they do provide a free and natural alternative for scientists looking to explore the ocean floor. In the future, scientists think broader-frequency vocalizations, like those of sperm whales, may produce higher-resolution imaging.

The researchers write, "our study demonstrates that animal vocalizations are useful not only for studying the animals themselves but also for investigating the environment that they inhabit."

Going through life can be very challenging at times, when we were young no one told us how hard it will be in the future but here we are. One of the gigantic problems of adult life is having self-doubt, and it is nasty and can kill your confidence levels if not controlled from the get-go. We will all experience some traces of self-doubt, which is natural. It happens to us during normal days or whenever we are going to start a new job, a new task, a new relationship, or anything new in life will make you self-doubt.

In plain and simple terms, self-doubt is the inability to have confidence in your own skills and capabilities. It is a venomous mindset that limits you from achieving your true potential, Humility is one of the best traits that you can possess but if it comes at your own expense, then there is no use in having that kind of trait. Anything that proves harmful to your mental or physical health, is something that you shouldn't possess in the first place.

Self-Doubt isn't something that you are born with, which is developed as you pass the different stages of life. There are many ways a person can develop self-doubt. The best approach that we can take is to eliminate any kind of self-doubt we have, but before that can happen, it is necessary that we understand the very cause of self-doubt.

One of my first nights on call started by responding to a message on my phone, and then I arrived at the animal hospital hurriedly. 

I had been working as a veterinary(兽医的) nurse at a university hospital for only nine months. My job included assisting doctors in performing operations on animals. And I was already familiar with the basic operation procedure: preparing operation tools, giving anesthesia(麻醉), positioning the animal on the operation table, cleaning the injured part, and at last, attaching the steel plate to the broken bone. 

On this particular night, the only information given was an emergency that needed my immediate attention. I was calm, yet anxious as I headed to the hospital. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, I found that two doctors and another nurse had just arrived. They were checking the patient in a stall(牲畜棚) near the operation room. 

I entered the stall, surprised to find there stood a tiny horse. Obviously, she lived outside all year round. Her entire body was covered with caked-on mud. She looked normal. The only thing out of place was the unnatural angle at which she held her right back leg, which was injured. As I came closer, I realized she was shaking and sweating, even though the night was cool. 

As I approached, I heard her family talking to her, their voices quiet and serious. "It's okay, Doro. We love you. Doctors will fix you right up, "said a small child. Her name was Daisy and the horse was 28-year-old with a broken leg. For a horse, such an injury usually means the death sentence. And Doro's age was against her. 

Her family included Mom, Dad, Daisy and her twin brothers, who were as worried as the little girl about the seriousness of the horse's condition. Looking wide-eyed and frightened, Daisy turned to her father and asked, "Daddy, you won't let Doro die, will you?"That look in her eyes struck everyone's heart. I knew we would be working all night to save Doro. 

Soon, we anxiously prepared for the operation.

Wang Ximeng, an 18-year-old boy, spent half a year creating a nearly 12-meter-long landscape painting under the guidance of Emperor Huizong, the (eight) emperor of the Song Dynasty. He probably couldn't believe that the silk scroll painting (regard)as a masterpiece. 

Wang Ximeng's A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains, measuring 51.5  1191.5 centimeters, has been (extreme) popular in China. As its name implies, it uses uncommon mineral pigments(颜料) with bright colors (show) the vast country landscape of rivers and mountains. 

The waves on the rivers show great patience and techniques of the painter. But  you think there's nothing special in the mountains, think again. Amid the continuous, almost- same-height mountains, one tall mountain,  towers over all the others around it, suddenly appears. Experts hold a belief  it represents the young man's ambition, standing there, like he is the center of the world. 

Actually Wang Ximeng is underrepresented in the history of great Chinese artists simply because he has no other (know) works surviving today. Nobody knows exactly when he died,  it is believed that he passed away in his twenties. 

The excellent skills in the painting make it hard to believe that it came from a teenager. Historians believe beyond the young man's ambition and his landscape painting skills, it also contains great value for historical studies into the Song Dynasty. 

I was scared of public speaking. But when I 1 my first novel ten years ago, I was invited to speak at a writers' festival.

Finally, a CEO should act as a catalyst(催化剂) for change.  Stakeholders can see the difference between lip service and sincere efforts. When a CEO decides to make a statement on a matter of public concern, it must be backed by concrete actions. For example, if they are keen on green development, they can take measures to reduce theirfirms'carbon footprint. 

By speaking out on critical issues, leading with purpose, and acting as catalysts for change, CEOs can help lead society towards a better future.

Such anxiety is not misplaced. The ILO's World Employment and Social Outlo ok 2020 report shows that all regions are facing major job-skills gaps and mismatches. According to a study, a generation ago the skills you learned in school were sufficient for you to survive in the job market for a while. Now half of the skills you acquired through education and training may start to depreciate(贬值) within 5 years! (Boston Consulting Group, 2023) Skills become outdated much quicker, as technological transformation and the green transition(转型) are quickening. 

ChatGPT is a case in point. AI has the potential to replace many professional and ever creative jobs. The potential threat is no longer limited to replacing unskilled repetitive jobs by automation. Technologies are fundamentally reshaping workplaces and jobs. 

The green transition is another driver for growing skill-job mismatch. The automobile industry may continue to boom, but electronic cars require a different set of human skills from fossil fuel-driven cars. Jobs in high carbon emission sectors will gradually disappear, while alternative jobs are greened or created in green sectors. According to an ILO analysis, because of the green transition, there could be around 78 million job losses globally by 2030. However, over 103 million jobs can be created — but only if workers can be systematically reskilled and upskilled. (ILO, 2019)
