How to Start the New Year Fresh
After you celebrate New Year's Eve, it's time to get to work on those New Year's resolutions! Here are some ways to start the new year fresh.
Start a fitness routine. Then make a plan to improve your health based on where you are. For instance, you can start taking a 20-minute walk after work every day or train to run a marathon in the fall. Start simply and gradually so you can stick with your goals.
Practice gratitude(感激)every day to fill your life with kindness. Practicing gratitude can boost your mood overall and improve your outlook on life. In addition, express your gratitude for the people in your life by telling them you appreciate them.
In addition to your personal resolutions, it is helpful to strive to get out of your comfort zone at least one time each month. You can schedule one new thing each month, or you can pick a few things and choose when the time comes. Regardless, choose to do something you've never done before to expand your horizons and grow as a person.
Update your resume(简历)so you're ready for new opportunities. Shortly into the new year, open up your resume, read it over, and look for ways to improve it. For instance, if you started a new job at the end of the year, add it under your "Employment" section. This way, if you want to apply for a job, you are ready when the time comes.
Get a haircut to freshen up your face. Schedule an appointment with your stylist early into the new year. You can get a trim for a subtle upgrade or go for a bold new hairstyle for a totally different look.
A. Aim to try a new thing every month.
B. This way, you'll feel fresh for the year ahead.
C. Make a list of what you'd like to try in the new year.
D. You can also update the dates to reflect the new year.
E. Think about your current health and your overall fitness goals.
F. Little changes can affect those around you positively, so choose wisely.
G. Each day before you go to sleep, write down three things you are grateful for.

Scientists are now digging into precisely why exercise holds so many benefits for our mental health and memory. The answer, studies say, lies in our brain chemistry.
Each time you work up a sweat, your body releases feel-good happy hormones(荷尔蒙), including endorphins, dopamine and endocannabinoids, the latter being responsible for the so-called runner's high. Now researchers are also pointing to myokines(肌肉因子)as an important contributor to the mental health benefits of exercise. When our muscles contract, myokines are released into the bloodstream, helping your muscles and organs communicate. They think this communication increases resilience to stress, reduces symptoms of mental suffering and anxiety and has a direct effect on depression.
A 2021 scientific report published inNeuropharmacologyshowed evidence that myokines boost brain function, like improving memory and mood. "Myokines reduce systemic inflammation(炎症), which is especially beneficial for people with drug-resistant depression whose low mood is linked to high inflammation," explains Dr Jennifer Heisz, an expert in brain health and associate professor in the department of kinesiology at McMaster University in Canada.
A recent study published in theBritish Journal of Sports Medicine showed that treatment for depression can be much more effective when physical activity is added to the usual care. Participants found benefits after 12 weeks of exercising for 30 to 60 minutes a day. "While exercise is not a replacement for professional mental health treatment, physical activity can complement and enhance the effects of the treatment," says lead researcher Ben Singh, a research fellow at the University of South Australia.
"It is amazing to consider how moving our bodies can heal our minds," says Heisz. Whether you're cycling, walking around your neighbourhood or doing yoga, getting sweaty is good for your body and mind. To get the biggest overall health boost, the key is tozero in on sports and activities you enjoy, so you'll keep going back to them.
(1)、 How do myokines boost our mental health?A、By bonding muscles with organs. B、By slowing down our bloodstream. C、By contracting muscles through the body. D、By releasing happy hormones in our brain.(2)、What is Ben Singh's attitude towards physical activity in treatment for depression?A、Doubtful. B、Negative. The maleo(塚雉), a bird with black feathers and a pink chest, is native to Indonesia's Sulawesi island and a few neighboring ones. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), which identifies wildlife across the world currently facing threats, estimates only 800 to 1,400 adult maleos remain in the wild. Experts do not know how many maleos still live across West Sulawesi island. They were only able to record the presence of nesting grounds in 23 villages based on reports from locals in the area. But of those, only 18 are considered active nesting areas.
Recently, the birds have been faced with new threats, which accelerate their decline. The Indonesian government plans to move the nation's capital from Jakarta to a new city on Borneo island, which is just a six-hour boat trip apart from Sulawesi island. The island takes on the building of new roads and seaports to be used to transport materials to the new capital. Activities also include tree clearing, digging, and removing stones. The process already has changed the forest environment on West Sulawesi and is harming maleo nesting areas near the beach. These changes have made the trip for maleos to lay their eggs increasingly difficult.
Another problem has beenpoachers. The Associated Press reports that, regardless of official ban, they steal maleo eggs that the males' parents have hidden in the sand, and sell the eggs for about $1 to people as food. The eggs are a traditional gift for many people in Mamuju and other parts of Sulawesi.
"As far as I know, maleo birds are in decline," said Andi Aco Takdir, chief of the West Sulawesi Forestry Agency. He pointed to several reasons for the decline, including destruction of beach areas, and expanding human development activities. He added that government officials there are prepared to take steps to protect the maleos even with the new capital development. Andi said, "Nature conservation must be used as an achievement and must not be built leaving behind problems."
(1)、Which word can be used to describe the maleos?A、Endangered. B、Adaptable. C、Widespread. D、Extinct.(2)、 What causes a further drop of the maleo population?A、The sudden changes of climate. B、The disappearance of the forests. C、The development of Sulawesi island. D、The supporting work for the new capital.(3)、What does the underlined word "poachers" in paragraph 3 refer to?A、People who hunt maleos for their meat. B、People who live by selling maleo eggs. C、People who engage in illegal hunting. D、People who regard maleo eggs as gifts.(4)、What can we infer from Andi's words?A、The new capital development might be stopped at once. B、The government will balance conservation and development. C、There seems to be a tough way for the new capital to develop. D、The government will concentrate on solving urban problems. -

It's January and time to go back to school. For some, that might be a gloomy prospect after the joys of the post Christmas festive period. For me, though, it's as exciting as a trip to Antarctica, also as scary as starting a job for which I'm not sure whether I'm qualified.
To be embarking on a master's degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling at Regent's University at 71 is perhaps an unlikely route for someone who dropped out of school at
17. But now I've come full circle to the conclusion that nothing, for me, feels more stimulating at this point in my life than learning new things. That studying, far from being the bore and the chore it used to be, is a treat.
Turning 70 came as something of a shock. I started to feel I was drifting(飘). Without a big project, and without any major family responsibilities, I was starting to feel I was lying on a bed of thorns. Friends of similar age were lapping up their lives, socializing and travelling. However, I longed for something more. Or perhaps not more, but different.
As the gloom grew, I thought perhaps I needed to see a therapist. A friend, a psychotherapist, suggested that while therapy might be useful, doing a course on the basics of psychotherapy and counselling might be more up my street. Without too much thinking, I decided to give it a shot.
So that's how every weekday I beep(发出哔哔声)myself through the gate with my student pass, which makes me smile every time. I felt privileged to be exposed to a group of my fellow students who were willing to be open to me.
While ageing is an inevitable process, we can get rid of a lot of the rules about what's age-appropriate. Studying for a master's degree in old age is a challenge, but it has provided me with a new perspective on life. Hence, ageing should never limit your ambitions.
(1)、 How did the author feel when going back to school?A、Unrealistic. B、Resistant. C、Awkward. D、Expectant.(2)、 Why did turning 70 come as a shock to the author?A、She achieved nothing before. B、She lived without a purpose. C、She had to support her family. D、She was separated by her fellows.(3)、What is the author's suggestion when facing ageing?A、Keeping your passions alive. B、Seeking support if needed. C、Behaving age-appropriately. D、Socializing with young students.(4)、 What can be the best title for the text?A、Returning To School—My Dream Since Childhood B、My Efforts To Learn At An unlikely Age Paying Off C、Learning—My Way To Overcome The Ageing Crisis D、My Tough Journey To Pursuing A Master's Degree -

In our weekly staff meeting, our editor Ashley was not pleased with the quality of our reporting."Our readership is way down. We need better stories for this Thursday's school newspaper. Does anybody have any ideas?" she said.
I handed her my article about our basketball team beating Deerfield High School the previous night by one point. "Sports stories are fun," she said, "but not good enough for the front page. We need something to really get people's attention."
After our meeting, we left the newsroom together and heard someone screaming, "Perry is missing!" Perry was a big red parrot and had been our school mascot(吉祥物) for ten years. He played an important role in students' lives, both in and out of class. He had also been a constant presence at school events, inspiring a sense of unity among students.
Everyone gathered around Perry's empty cage, heartbroken. Suddenly, a student from the crowd came over and showed me a photo. "You're a reporter for the school paper, right? I happened to take this yesterday," he said. In the photo was a Deerfield High School basketball player with something large hidden under his shirt around the size of a parrot.
"He must have stolen Perry to get back at us for winning the game!" Ashley cried. We hurried back to the newsroom, agreeing to run the photo on the front page with the headline "Deerfield Stole Perry". "This is just the story we need. Everyone will read it," Ashley said confidently.
After she left, I took a closer look at the photo. The clock in the background read 4:15 p.m., but our game against Deerfield hadn't started until 4:30 p.m. Why would the boy have taken Perry before we even played? An uneasy feeling came over me that we might have falsely accused someone.
I went to Perry's usual caretaker to ask if he knew Perry was missing. "He's not missing. He's retired. He's ready for some quieter days," he said. Learning the truth, I immediately told Ashley and suggested writing a story to say goodbye to Perry.
Paragraph 1:
To my surprise, Ashley insisted on reporting the "Deerfield Stole Perry" story.
Paragraph 2:
On Thursday, the paper came out with the headline "Bye Bye, Perry" on the front page.

Art comes in two main categories: realistic and abstract. Realistic art aims to show real-life scenes, people, and objects exactly as they appear. It involves paying close attention to details, making things look like photographs. It's more about expressing feelings, emotions, and ideas.
Realistic art is easy to understand. Viewers can easily recognize what is portrayed. Take theMonaLisa, for example—it's a realistic painting of a lady with a mysterious smile., helping us to learn about the past.
Unlike realistic art, abstract art is more about being creative. . They use shapes, colours and patterns to express feelings and ideas. Abstract art means different things to different people. Some people enjoy trying to figure out what the artwork conveys.
. Realistic art needs precision in drawing or sculpting to make things look real. Abstract art requires imagination to use shapes and colours in new ways. Many artists are skilled in both. They create realistic pieces to demonstrate their technical skills and abstract ones to display their creativity.
As for personal preference, some people prefer the clear stories of realistic art while others are attracted to the mystery of abstract art, interpreting meanings in the shapes and forms. Together, the two kinds of art make the art world diverse and engaging. .
A. Both types of art take skills to make
B. Photographs preserve faces of folks from long ago
C. Grasping abstract art demands more artistic training
D. Both ways of creating art have their own value and beauty
E. In contrast, abstract art focuses less on realistic appearances
F. Artworks like this tell stories about history and everyday life
G. Artists have the freedom to go beyond real-life representations

Each year, the world loses about 10 million hectares of forest—an area about the size of Iceland—because of cutting down trees. At that rate, some scientists predict the world's forests could disappear in 100 to 200 years. To handle it, now researchers at Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) have pioneered a technique to generate wood-like plant materials in a lab. This makes it possible to "grow" a wooden product without cutting down trees.
In the lab, the researchers first take cells from the leaves of a young plant. These cells are cultured in liquid medium for two days, then moved to another medium which contains nutrients and two different hormones(激素). By adjusting the hormone levels, the researchers can tune the physical and mechanical qualities of the cells. Next, the researchers use a 3-D printer to shape the cell-based material, and let the shaped material grow in the dark for three months. Finally, the researchers dehydrate(使脱水) the material, and then evaluate its qualities.
They found that lower hormone levels lead to plant materials with more rounded, open cells of lower density(密度), while higher hormone levels contribute to the growth of plant materials with smaller but denser cell structures. Lower or higher density of cell structures makes the plant materials softer or more rigid, helping the materials grow with different wood-like characteristics. What's more, it's to be noted that the research process is about 100 times faster than the time it takes for a tree to grow to maturity!
Research of this kind is ground-breaking. "This work demonstrates the great power of a technology," says lead researcher, Jeffrey Berenstain. "The real opportunity here is to be at its best with what you use and how you use it. This technology can be tuned to meet the requirements you give about shapes, sizes, rigidity, and forms. It enables us to ‘grow' any wooden product in a way that traditional agricultural methods can't achieve."
(1)、Why do researchers at MIT conduct the research?A、To grow more trees. B、To protect plant diversity. C、To reduce tree losses. D、To predict forest disappearance.(2)、 What does Paragraph 2 mainly tell us about the lab research?A、Its theoretical basis. B、Its key procedures. C、Its scientific evidence. D、Its usual difficulties.(3)、 What does the finding suggest about the plant materials?A、The hormone levels affect their rigidity. B、They are better than naturally grown plants. C、Their cells' shapes mainly rely on their density. D、Their growth speed determines their characteristics.(4)、Why is the research ground-breaking according to Berenstain?A、It uses new biological materials in lab experiments. B、It revolutionizes the way to make wooden products. C、It challenges traditional scientific theories in forestry. D、It has a significant impact on worldwide plant growth. -

"Why does Grandpa have ear hair?" Just a few years ago my child was so curious to know "why" and "how" that we had to cut off her questions five minutes before bedtime. Now a soon-to-be fourth grader, she says that she dislikes school because "it's not fun to learn." I am shocked. As a scientist and parent, I have done everything I can to promote a love of learning in my children. Where did I go wrong?
My child's experience is not unique. Developmental psychologist Susan Engel notes that curiosity—defined as"spontaneous(自发的) investigation and eagerness for new information"—drops dramatically in children by the fourth grade.
In Wonder: Childhood and the Lifelong Love of Science, Yale psychologist Frank C. Keil details the development of wonder—a spontaneous passion to explore, discover, and understand. He takes us on a journey from its early development, when wonder drives common sense and scientific reasoning, through the drop-off in wonder that often occurs, to the trap of life in a society that devalues wonder.
As Keil notes, children are particularly rich in wonder while they are rapidly developing causal mechanisms(因果机制) in the preschool and early elementary school years. They are sensitive to the others' knowledge and goals, and they expertly use their desire for questioning. Children's questions, particularly those about "why" and "how", support the development of causal mechanisms which can be used to help their day-to-day reasoning.
Unfortunately, as Keil notes, "adults greatly underestimate young children's causal mechanisms." In the book,Wonder, Keil shows that we can support children's ongoing wonder by playing games with them as partners, encouraging question-asking, and focusing on their abilities to reason and conclude.
A decline in wonder is not unavoidable. Keil reminds us that we can accept wonder as a desirable positive quality that exists in everyone. I value wonder deeply, and Wonder has given me hope by proposing a future for my children that will remain wonder-full.
(1)、 What is a common problem among fourth graders?A、They upset their parents too often. B、They ask too many strange questions. C、Their love for fun disappears quickly. D、Their desire to learn declines sharply.(2)、What can be inferred about children's causal mechanisms in Paragraph 4?A、They control children's sensitivity. B、They slightly change in early childhood. C、They hardly support children's reasoning. D、They develop through children's questioning.(3)、How can parents support children's ongoing wonder according to Keil?A、By monitoring their games. B、By welcoming inquiring minds. C、By estimating their abilities. D、By providing reasonable conclusions.(4)、 What is the text?A、A book review. B、A news report. C、A research paper. D、A children's story. -

I used to believe that only words could catch the essence of the human soul. The literary works contained such distinct stories that they shaped the way we saw the world. Words were what composed the questions we sought to uncover and the answers to those questions themselves. Words were everything.
That belief changed.
In an ordinary math class, my teacher posed a simple question: What's 0.99 rounded to the nearest whole number? Easy. When rounded to the nearest whole number, 0.99 =1. Somehow, I thought even though 0.99 is only 0.01 away from 1, there's still a 0.01 difference. That means even if two things are only a little different, they are still different, so doesn't that make them completely different?
My teacher answered my question by presenting another equation(等式): 1=0., which could also be expressed as 1=0.999999... repeating itself without ever ending.
There was something mysterious but fascinating about the equation. The left side was unchangeable, objective: it contained a number that ended. On the right was something endless, a number repeating itself limitless times. Yet, somehow, these two opposed things were connected by an equal sign.
Lying in bed, I thought about how much the equation paralleled our existence. The left side of the equation represents that sometimes life itself is so unchangeable and so clear. The concrete, whole number of the day when you were born and the day when you would die. But then there is that gap in between life and death. The right side means a time and space full of limitless possibilities, and endless opportunities into the open future.
So that's what life is. Objective but imaginative. Unchangeable but limitless. Life is an equation with two sides that balances itself out. Still, we can't ever truly seem to put the perfect words to it. So possibly numbers can express ideas as equally well as words can. For now, let's leave it at that: 1=0.999999... and live a life like it.
(1)、What does the author emphasize about words in Paragraph 1?A、Their wide variety. B、Their literary origins. C、Their distinct sounds. D、Their expressive power.(2)、What made the author find the equation fascinating?A、The repetition of a number. B、The way two different numbers are equal. C、The question the teacher raised. D、The difference between the two numbers.(3)、Which of the following can replace the underlined word "paralleled" in Paragraph 6?A、Measured. B、Composed. C、Mirrored. D、Influenced.(4)、What is a suitable title for the text?A、The Perfect Equation B、Numbers Build Equations C、An Attractive Question D、Words Outperform Numbers -

When 16-year-old Colin Moore is out on the football field, he is putting his heart into the game and looks just like any other teenage athlete out there. But what makes him different than the rest, is that he's playing without part of his arm.
Moore was born without the lower part of his right arm, but he's never let that stop him from achieving anything he's put his mind to in his life, including football. "I've always had to have a mind of steel, heart of gold, and just move forward no matter what." Moore said.
Although his arm difference has never got in the way of anything, it's been a challenge for him. But in everything he does, he's worked twice as hard as everyone else to make sure he would succeed. Moore's goal is to be a starting center, which requires a lot of body strength. Even though he is missing an arm, he makes up for it with his fast movements and strength, making him the perfect choice for this position.
Moore looks up to the Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, and aims to be just like him one day. Moore's hard work even got him noticed by his hero. After seeing a video of Moore playing football, Kelce sent him one back. Kelce told Moore that his perseverance is a great encouragement to him. He even invited Moore to join him and the Eagles at their training camp so they could meet him.
Moore's coach Frank Holmes agrees with Kelce andcompliments Moore's perseverance. "The thing I can say about Colin is this: he was born with a challenging situation, but every day he has a positive attitude and focuses fully on whatever he does. He trains hard."

Actually, it's unlikely that things were objectively better in the past. This form of thinking is calledrosy retrospection, which is a well-studied cognitive bias. It happens because when we think about the past, we are more likely to focus on positive generalities than annoying details.
If you think back to a holiday with your family five years ago, you're likely to recall the beautiful views rather than the uncomfortable bed. In other words, the negative details disappear from our memory over time while the positive ones remain.
Rosy retrospection can influence how we make decisions, and it's one of the reasons why we easily return into problematic relationships. The longer it is since we experienced the negative influence of a relationship, the more likely we are to let the good memories outweigh the bad memories and to perhaps forgive unforgivable behavior. It's always a good idea to review our nostalgic (怀旧的) feelings with a healthy degree of doubt.
But rosy retrospection does serve an important purpose. It keeps us in a positive state of mind in the present and is important to our psychological wellbeing. In fact, people who tend to remember negative experiences more than positive ones are likely to exhibit psychological disorders. Research generally suggests that our happiest days are still to come. And even if they're not, it's still important to believe that they are. Don't shy away from looking upon the past with a certain degree of nostalgia. But, for the same reason, don't use the past as an excuse to be unhappy in the present.
(1)、When we think about the past, we usually ____.A、improve present living conditions B、beautify past experiences C、focus on mind mapping D、play games to forget bad things(2)、What does the underlined phrase "rosy retrospection" in Paragraph 2 mean?A、Having a preference for good memories. B、Remembering exactly about the details. C、Concentrating on impossible things. D、Thinking objectively about the past.(3)、 Which of the following is encouraged by the author according to Paragraph 4?A、Reviewing the nostalgic feelings critically. B、Ignoring the nostalgic feelings absolutely. C、Forgiving the unacceptable behavior generously. D、Getting back to the problematic relationships bravely.(4)、What's the main idea of the last paragraph?A、The good excuse for present unhappiness. B、The accuracy of remembering past details. C、The importance of maintaining a positive mindset. D、The negative impact of recalling past experiences.(5)、What is the author's attitude toward rosy retrospection according to the passage?A、Negative. B、Subjective. C、Favorable. D、Objective. -

Dogs have been man's best friends for 30,000 years—and now scientists think they know why.
Dogs are usually not relaxed in a lab environment, but with a little petting and lots of treats, they can be trained to sit still even in an MRI (磁共振成像) scanner. That's how researchers at Hungary's ELTE University were able to get images of their brains at work.
Researcher Attila Andics said it helped them better understand the dogs' relationship with humans. "We have known for a long time that dogs and humans share similar social environment, but now our results show that dogs and humans also have similar brain mechanisms (方法;机制) to process social information," said Andics.
After training 11 dogs to stay motionless while their brains were scanned, the researchers checked their neurological (神经系统的) responses to about 200 emotionally
significant sounds, from whining and crying to playful barking and laughing. They then compared the responses from human subjects. They found great similarities. Andics said it opened new possibilities for the research.
"It establishes a foundation of a new branch of comparative neuroscience, because until now it was not possible to measure the brain activities of a non-primate and a primate (灵长类) brain in a single experiment," said Andies.
Evan Maclean, Professor in Duke University, said that the Hungarian results were an important step forward.
"We've known for a long time that dogs have a lot of behavioral similarities compared to humans. But we don't know anything or very little at least about whether some of these behaviors are represented similarly inside the brain of the dog, so this research is providing a first glimpse into whether these behavioral similarities are underlined by similar neural processes," said MacLean.
The Hungarian scientists tell ordinary dog owners to treat their dog companions as intelligent friends, not mere animals, because they evidently understand human feelings.
(1)、Why were treats used in the research?A、To reduce dogs' nervousness. B、To help dogs live a still life. C、To find out dogs' favorite food. D、To analyze dogs' images of brains.(2)、 Through the new research, the scientists find that ____.A、dogs are unlikely to understand human feelings B、dogs eagerly accept human beings as their best friends C、dogs tend to have different responses to different sounds D、dogs are close to humans in processing social information(3)、The researchers compare the neurological responses of the dogs with those of human subjects by ____.A、analyzing their physical movements B、observing their facial expressions C、measuring brain activities through scanning D、assessing their different vocalizations(4)、 How should we treat dogs according to the scientists?A、Treating them as private property. B、Considering them as smart creatures. C、Regarding them as wild animals. D、Viewing them as tools for specific tasks.(5)、 What is the value of the research?A、To call on dog owners to treat dogs well. B、To advance the research on dogs' brains. C、To establish comparative neuroscience. D、To reveal why dogs are men's best friends. -

Many of our family traditions centered around food. We'd gather in the kitchen for every birthday and holiday and enjoy delicious food. My grandparents always held Christmas dinner, which included chicken cacciatore, sausage, meatballs and salad. But right before we sat down to eat, my grandmother would pull me aside to show me the dish she made just for me: fresh pasta (意大利面) with tomato sauce.
It was a simple dish, but to me it was warm food that filled me with happiness. But more than that, it made me feel like I belonged. I was a shy kid and, in many situations, I felt ignored. And here was my grandmother, showing me that I mattered.
Years went by; I moved away and got married. I'd visit throughout the years and my grandmother would serve up a plate of pasta.
When my daughter was born in 2020, for the first time in my life I wasn't about to make the trip back home for Christmas. I cooked my family's traditional foods and my husband and I had a big meal that included, of course, fresh pasta. I had a video call with my grandmother and showed her the pasta. Shortly after the holidays she passed away unexpectedly.
It seemed so unfair that my grandmother passed away soon after I became a parent. I'd hold my daughter and think about how I could tell her what an amazing great-grandmother she had.
In my sadness I came to an answer: food. Late at night after my daughter had gone to bed, I'd go to the kitchen and learn how to make fresh pasta, cooking my grandmother's recipes. Before long I started experimenting, making a bit changes to classic recipes. When my daughter got a little older, I began making special dishes for her with my grandmother's flavors in mind.
I know that no matter how hard I try, my daughter will never have a bowl pasta with sauce exactly like the ones my grandmother would make for me. While that makes me sad, she'll still get to have my pasta sauce. I know there're two things she'll never lack for in this life: pasta and love.
(1)、What did the author say about her grandmother's homemade pasta?A、It was a special birthday gift for her. B、It brought her a sense of belonging. C、It was loved by every family member. D、It took a lot of time and energy to prepare.(2)、What made the author's 2020 Christmas dinner different from previous ones?A、She didn't share pasta with her husband. B、She didn't give her grandmother a call. C、She didn't prepare many traditional family foods. D、She didn't have a chance to eat her grandmother's pasta.(3)、 Why did the author learn to make fresh pasta late at night?A、To honour her grandmother. B、To give her daughter a surprise. C、To meet her grandmother's wish. D、To be a role model for her daughter.(4)、What can we learn about the author's pasta sauce?A、It isn't easy to make. B、It isn't to her daughter's liking. C、It tastes exactly the same as her grandmother's. D、It shows her love for her daughter.(5)、What's the best title for the text?A、Different types of pasta B、The origin of pasta C、Love through pasta D、Pasta for Christmas -
