Empathy (同理心) is one of those strange qualities — something almost everyone wants, but few know how to truly give or receive it. In a world where self-satisfaction is emphasized, it is in short supply but high demand. This is all the more reason to teach the next generation what it means to have empathy for those around them.

What Is Empathy? — Many people confuse sympathy and empathy, but they are two distinct values. Empathy is not just the ability to understand someone's feelings; criminals often take advantage of people by appearing to understand their feelings and subsequently gaining their trust. Empathy is more than that. Not only is it the ability to recognize how someone feels, but it also values and respects the feelings of another person. It means treating others with kindness, dignity, and understanding.

Kids Need ToSee Adults Show Empathy — While some children are gifted with naturally kind hearts, in most cases kids need to see empathy modeled by the adults around them. It begins with the way parents relate to their children. Parents who show an interest in the things that matter to their kids and respond to emotions in a positive and caring way are teaching the skill of empathy.

Meet Emotional Needs — Whenchildren have their emotional needs met, two things happen. They learn how to meet the emotional needs of others and they are anchored in what they are receiving, meaning that they are secure enough to give to others when the need arises but first they need to receive. An empty jug cannot fill a cup.

It's a good idea to talk to kids about emotions and how other people experience them. Give their emotions names (for example, jealousy, anger, and love) and teach them that these are normal. Talk to them about how to handle emotions in a positive way and point out situations where other people are experiencing emotions. Teach them about respecting the emotions of others and show them how to act in a situation where a response is required.

(1)、Why is it that the next generation are taught to have empathy?
A、Because people tend to center themselves. B、Because everyone lacks empathy. C、Because empathy is a strange quality. D、Because it's better to give than to receive.
(2)、Which situation can empathy be used in?
A、When a mathematician is calculating the area of a farmland B、When a teacher is comforting a student about his failure in exams. C、When a criminal is cheating a victim. D、When a dancer is dancing to music.
(3)、What does the underlined sentence "An empty jug cannot fill a cup" mean?
A、An empty jug is too small to hold a cup. B、It's a must to talk to kids about emotions. C、Adults should set an example to kids. D、Kids give empathy with their emotional needs met first.
(4)、What is the main topic of the passage?
A、How to train kids to have empathy. B、How to distinguish sympathy and empathy. C、How to help kids finish empathy-related tasks. D、Whether kids can be trained to be more empathetic.

Steve Forest is a scientist. He's standing on an island off the coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. Below him are several hundred penguins and their children. Forrest's job is to count every one of them. It's snowing. There is a big wind, too. And their children won't stay still. Penguins are great climbers. So Forrest and the team members must be too. And penguins aren't always clean.

Forrest has been coming to Antarctica every January for six years. He's helping count the area's penguins. This will help researchers better understand the Antarctic environment. There used to be lots of penguins in Antarctica, "It's all because of climate change," Heather J. Lynch says seriously. She is leading the research team. The team member Noah Stryckeradds, "We know climate change is hitting the Antarctic Peninsula harder than anywhere else in the world. We are following the situation closely."

Scientists think that warming waters do harm to krill, the tiny animals that penguins eat. This is bad for the sea life. But krill are hard to study, so researchers pay attention to penguins. They're easier to follow. They return to the same place each year to lay eggs. If penguins aren't doing well ,krill probably aren't either. "Penguins give us an idea about what is going on in the sea around us," Forrest says.

This year, Lynch's research team uses a drone to help them. They fly it over an area to take pictures to count penguins.

Counting penguins is quite necessary. The more we learn, the more we know about krill and the ocean animals that depend on them. When we understand them, we can start fixing them. We should consider carefully what Lynch says: "What's happening in the Antarctic is happening everywhere."

(1)、What is required of scientists like Forrest according to Paragraph 1?
    A、Being clean. B、Being good at math. C、Being cool-headed. D、Being skilled in climbing.
(2)、What's the point of counting penguins in the Antarctie?
A、To protect this animal species from extinction. B、To help find out how many krill might be living C、To have a better knowledge of the Antarctic environment D、To collect first-hand data for analyzing global warming.
(3)、What does the underlined word "them" in the last paragraph refer to?
    A、Scientists. B、Krill. C、Penguins. D、Ocean animals.
(4)、What can be inferred from the text?
A、Penguins lay eggs in the same place on the island every year. B、The penguin population is increasing due to climate change. C、The penguin population determines the krill population. D、Climate change is most obvious in the Antarctic Peninsula.

It's been five years since Björklast released an album, but now the Icelandic icon (偶像) is back with a deeply inventive set called Fossora. Every sound on the record feels as if it's springing into the mix from a different direction, as her energetic voice shares space with everything from bass clarinets (低音单簧管) to the voices of Björk'sown creation. Fossorawas inspired, at least in part, by the death of the singer's mother, but joy also exists.

A hospital has been forced to ban Pokemon Go players from the site after a monster hub (妖怪枢纽站) was found in the A&E department. Royal Stoke University Hospital discovered that its casualty unit(急诊室) is on the same spot as a Pokemon Go ‘gym' —— where players can train their newly caught Nintendo creatures.

The University Hospitals of North Midlands Trust agreed last week that patients can play Pokemon Go on wards because walking around is healthy. But the Trust has been forced to post a warning on its website about public access to A&E. It said if Pokemon Go becomes a major annoyance it would ask Nintendo—— which decides on the locations of the virtual gyms according using GPS——to have it removed from the premises(道馆).

Kevin Parker, associate chief nurse, said, "Members of the public who do not need to be at Royal Stoke should not attempt to enter A&E or any other part of the hospital building to play the game. The A&E department is incredibly busy this summer. We want the public to understand that anybody who visits the hospital solely to play the game will provide an unwanted distraction to the important work of the hospital. I'm also aware of various reports in the media of unsafe areas that the game has been played in."

"Royal Stoke University Hospital is a safe area where gamers can enjoy Pokemon Go." Michelle Harris, the Trust's manager, said the game could still be played by those already in hospital. "We recognize that the Pokemon Go game encourages walking and exercise, which is something that the Trust is equally keen to promote," she said.

There are a number of "walking routes" established throughout the Trust that can be used to combine walking and playing the game. "Walking just 30 minutes, five times a week, can help reduce the risk of preventable illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease."

There have been several warnings about the game since its UK release. Last week a group of teenagers in Wiltshire were left stranded almost 100ft underground after they got carried away searching for Pokemon Go characters. The four boys, aged 16 and 17, ended up getting lost and had to wait to get a phone signal before they could call for help. Eventually, they contacted Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue team, who took them to safety. Damien Bence, of the fire and rescue team, said: "Pokemon Go is obviously leading people into dangerous situations."

(1)、It seems that PokemonGo is a game____.
A、encouraging players to walk and exercise instead of staying indoors B、helping cure such diseases as obesity, diabetes and heart disease C、designed to help patients in hospital recover sooner D、warning teenagers of the places easy to get lost or attacked
(2)、The A&E department is incredibly busy because____.
A、more patients' arrival increases the workload of the A&E department B、doctors' playing the game makes the A&E department less efficient C、players' injury increases the workload of the A&E department D、players' arrival disturbs the work of the A&E department
    (3)、The passage is mainly about____.
A、the popularity of Pokemon Go since its UK release B、the applications of Pokemon Go in hospitals since its UK release C、the negative effects of Pokemon Go since its UK release D、the establishment of Pokemon Go virtual gyms since its UK release

Chase Poustis a 7-year-old boy. He and his dad Steven, and his 4-year-old sister, Abigail were out for a family boating trip on Florida's St. Johns River near Mandarin Point. Chase and Abigail were swimming at the back end of the anchored boat while Steven was on deck (甲板) fishing.

It was an idyllic (悠闲) outing — until a strong wave came. It was too strong for Abigail to hold onto the boat. Instantly realizing his sister would be swept away, Chase let go of the boat as well to try and reach her.

Steven jumped into the water but after realizing he couldn't keep up with both kids, he was faced with a hard decision. "I told them I loved them because I wasn't sure what's going to happen," Steven told News-4 JAX. "I tried to stick with both of them. I wore myself out. She drifted away from me."

Directing Chase to swim to shore for help, Steven stayed behind, keeping as close as he could to Abigail as the life-vest that was keeping her above the waves floated further and further from his reach.

It was a tough go for the 7-year-old, but rather than attempting to swim all out, Chase wisely paced himself. Stopping to float or dog paddle when he was tired, he'd rest and then set off again. It took Chase an hour to reach the shore. Once on solid ground, he ran to the nearest house and called for help.

Rescuers arrived soon to search for Steven and Abigail. Miraculously, the two were found and rescued about an hour later-more than a mile away from the family's abandoned boat.

Everywhere you look, people are looking at screens, and then half an hour has gone by before they realize it.

Researchers at the University of Washington conducted in-depth interviews to learn why we can't stop checking our phones. They found a series of reasons, common across age groups, thatstart and end habitual smartphone use. Hiniker and her team interviewed three groups of smartphone users: high school students, college students and adults who have graduated from college. The 39 interviewees were smartphone users in the Seattle area between the ages of 14 and 64.

In general, interviewees had four common reasons for using their phones:

■During unoccupied moments, like waiting for a friend to show up.

■Before or during boring and repetitive tasks.

    ■When in socially awkward situations.

■When they are expecting a message.

The group also had common reasons that ended their phone use:

■Meeting competing needs from the real world, like meeting up with a friend or needing to drive somewhere.

■Realizing that they had been on their phones for half an hour.

■Coming across content they'd already seen.

The team was surprised to find that the reasons were the same across age groups. "This doesn't mean that teens use their phones the same way adults do. But I think this desire to turn back to your phone plays out the same way across all these groups. The high school students would say ‘Anytime I have a dead moment, if I have one minute between classes I pull out my phone. ' Andthe adults would say 'Anytime I have one dead moment, if I have one minute between seeing patients at work. I pull out my phone.'"

(1)、When is a man most likely to use his smartphone?
A、When he is talking with a friend. B、When he is late for a friend's party. C、When he is given a challenging task. D、When he is taking the lift with a stranger.
(2)、What did the research find about the smartphone users of different ages?
A、They liked to read the same thing again. B、They used smartphones in the same way. C、They used smartphones nonstop for a long time. D、They shared the same reasons for smartphone use.
(3)、What is the best title for the passage?
A、Influence of Smartphone Addiction. B、Ways to Stop Smartphone Addiction. C、Difference in Smartphone Use across Age Groups. D、Research on the Strong Desire for Smartphone Use.

My daughter is a middle school student who still plays with her American Girl dolls. Dolls have been a huge part of her life ever since she was a baby. When she got her first doll at the age of 5, she spent hours brushing its hair and changing its clothes. Some people think my daughter should stop doing that as a teenager. But I think quite differently.

Considering the less attractive activities that are out there and what else she could be doing, I find playing with dolls seems like a nice choice. It's better than playing computer games or something alike. I've also noticed it doesn't make any difference to her social life. She has her friends and spends time with them.

Playing with dolls is helpful for my daughter. "When I play with them, "my daughter told me, "it makes me feel that I can express problems going on in my life and that I'm not the only one who has those problems. They're in their lives, too, and they have to live with them." I'm glad she finds a safe place to stay when she faces school test, changeable social groups, and a changing body in middle school.

Moreover, the girl dolls can be encouraging. Most come with an amazing back story. For instance, Luciana is interested in science and technology and wants to become an astronaut. How cool it is to set an example for kids!

So next time, when someone tries to judge my young teen for playing with her dolls, I'll remember all the ways she benefits from them. And when she grows too large for them, I hope she saves her dolls and brings them out one day in the future so that her own kids can get the benefits of playing with them, even into their teen years.

(1)、What does the author say about her daughter?
A、She has a lasting interest in dolls. B、She likes collecting some special dolls. C、She has got bored with her childhood dolls as a teenager. D、She spends too much time with dolls instead of her friends.
(2)、According to Paragraph 2, what does the author think her daughter's behavior means?
A、Developing her social skills. B、Doing poorly in school exams. C、Missing other amazing activities. D、Avoiding some harmful activities.
(3)、What did the daughter's words in Paragraph 3 suggest?
A、Playing with dolls gives her a sense of responsibility. B、Playing with dolls helps reduce her stress in life. C、She has problems different from other teenagers. D、She has been worried about her school life.
(4)、Who may be Luciana in Paragraph 4?
    A、a scientist B、a friend C、a doll D、a girl

In 2002, Huang Hui, a researcher of the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, went diving near Xisha. In addition to getting an irremovable suntan (晒黑), she was left with memories of a beautiful experience with clear water and abundant colorful corals (珊瑚). However, much of the breathtaking scenery of this reef has disappeared due to climate change and human activities. All of these factors led to the decline of the coral reef in the near shore waters. "We started to cultivate corals near the Xisha Islands in 2010, and restored more than 200,000 square meters of coral reefs," Huang said.

In 2004, when Huang was attending the 10th International Coral Reef Symposium, she found herself the only representative from the Chinese mainland. She said she felt sad but she made up her mind to strengthen communication with other countries to improve China's level and status in coral research. She visited top coral research institutes in the US and Australia, establishing long-term cooperation with some of the world's top coral researchers. By far, Huang has worked on coral research and protection for 22 years. Now, China is in a leading position in terms of technology and coral planting scale.

Huang believes that people's consciousness of coral protection matters most to the sustainable development of the coral reefs. "I want to call on more people to love nature and look at the ocean in awe," Huang said.

Partly due to her efforts, Hainan Province released a law in 2017 banning reef exploitation (开发), trading and damaging.

Huang works as a consultant for customs and frontier police on coral protection and promotes coral protection in her local schools. Huang also provides online free training for divers to teach them proper behavior in the sea to protect coral reefs.

"A group of ‘folk scientists' have also been trained with the hope that more people can gain awareness of the significance of coral reef protection and know how to protect them," said Huang.

"I am 50, and when I become 60, I hope that not only a coral island will be built but a sustainable development pattern will also be created," said Huang. "The ideal state is that the coral island should be able to support fishermen and preserve the ecosystem," she added.

(1)、What impressed Huang most when going diving near Xisha in 2002?
A、A permanent sunburn on her skin. B、A large quantity of colorful corals. C、A sweet memory of her childhood. D、The sudden disappearance of corals.
(2)、What does Paragraph 2 mainly focus on?
A、China's advances in coral protection. B、Huang's devotion to coral protection. C、Huang's concern over coral protection. D、People's ignorance of coral protection.
(3)、What is the key to protecting corals according to Huang Hui?
A、Introduction of advanced technology. B、Tough laws banning reef exploitation. C、Public awareness of coral protection. D、Communication with foreign countries.
(4)、What is the best title for this passage?
A、Corals in South China Sea are in danger. B、Scientist plants corals to save ecosystem. C、China is taking the lead in planting corals. D、Measures are to be taken to protect corals.

As you read, remember: gifts from the heart are the best ones you'll ever receive.

According to legend (传说), a young man while moving about the desert came across a spring of delicious clear water. The water was so sweet that he filled his leather canteen so he could bring some back to an elder who had been his teacher. After a four-day journey he gave the water to the old man who took a deep drink, smiled warmly and thanked his student for the sweet water. The young man returned to his village with a happy heart.

Later, the teacher let another student taste the water. He spat it out, saying it was very smelly. It had become no longer fresh because of the old leather container. The student asked his teacher, "Master, the water was smelly. Why did you pretend to like it?"

The teacher replied, "You only tasted the water. I tasted the gift. The water was simply the container for an act of loving-kindness and nothing could be sweeter."

I think we understand this lesson best when we receive gifts of love from young children. Whether it's a piece of paper or a ruler, the natural and proper response (反应) is appreciation and we express thankfulness because we love the idea within the gift.

Gratitude (感激) doesn't always come naturally. Unfortunately, most children and many adults value only the thing given rather than the feeling in it. We should tell ourselves and teach our children about the beauty and purity of feelings and expressions of gratitude. After all, gifts from the heart are really gifts of the heart.

(1)、Based on the story, what did the water for the old man actually stand for?
A、The young man's loving-kindness. B、The beauty of the desert. C、The source of the legend. D、The importance of giving.
(2)、What was the old man's response after drinking the water?
A、He frowned (皱眉) at the water. B、He showed his appreciation. C、He didn't say anything. D、He was moved to tears.
(3)、What's the best title for the passage?
A、The Importance of Gratitude. B、Gifts from Children C、Gifts from the Heart D、A leather Container

Only one in three adolescents are practising appropriate hand hygiene(卫生), a new global study involving University of Queensland researchers has found.

Dr Yaqoot Fatima from UQ's Institute for Social Science Research said there was a renewed emphasis on adequate hand hygiene with COVID-19. "We used data from the Global School-based Student Health Survey from 92 countries across the six WHO regions to examine the prevalence (普遍)of hand hygiene practices in adolescents worldwide," Dr Fatima said, "Our results highlight that globally, adolescents practice inadequate hand hygiene. Adolescents who reported unhealthy behaviours such as being more seated, smoking, and experiencing bullying at school were more likely to practise inappropriate hand hygiene than their peers. In comparison, parental support and bonding emerged as a key factor associated with adequate hand hygiene practices in adolescents."

The researchers examined 354,422 adolescents aged 13–17 years to demonstrate the considerable cross-country variations in hand hygiene practices. Dr Fatima said that although access to soap and water was an issue, around 60 percent of adolescents were not practising appropriate hand hygiene even when they had access to water and soap. While access to handwashing facilities and knowledge of proper hygiene is important for practising adequate hand hygiene, the study showed that the knowledge-behaviour gap is a major reason for insufficient hand hygiene practices.

Bullying prevention at school, systematic combination of health and hygiene education in the school curriculum and peer-led behaviour could be strategies to reduce inappropriate hand hygiene practices in adolescents. The positive role of parental support and bonding suggests that interventions (干预) aiming to improve adolescent hand hygiene should focus on parents and seek their active involvement in designing and delivering those interventions. "With these strategies adopted properly, we are sure to raise public awareness of hand hygiene practices." Dr Fatima said.

(1)、What can be inferred from Dr Fatima's words in paragraph. 2?
A、Adolescents in Queensland practice adequate hand hygiene. B、Adequate hand hygiene is reemphasized due to COVID-19. C、Adolescents practicing adequate hand hygiene are more likely to smoke. D、Parental support plays a limited role in adequate hand hygiene practices.
(2)、What is the main reason for inadequate hand hygiene practices?
A、Serious bullying problems at school. B、No access to handwashing equipment. C、Poor knowledge of appropriate hygiene. D、The gap between knowledge and behaviour.
(3)、What is DrFatima's attitude towards the prevalence of hand hygiene practices?
    A、Confident. B、Indifferent. C、Worried. D、Ambiguous.

There's a great example of the power of persistence(坚持)in the way Chinese bamboo grows. When farmers plant the seeds and 41 the soil day after day and year after year, they see no 42 results. Four years can go by before they see any 43 . But in the fifth year, a bud(芽)44 through the soil and it's said this particular type of bamboo can grow ninety feet in five weeks. This begs the question: Is the bamboo 45 to an overnight success doing all that growing in just five weeks, or does it take five years for the bamboo to reach this 46 ?

Does speaking on the phone make you nervous?

Speaking with people on the phone is becoming rare these days. Many people prefer to use email or messaging apps when they need to communicate with someone. Sometimes, though, making a phone call is unavoidable. This simple act can actually be an unpleasant experience for some people. If this sounds familiar to you, you might be one of them who suffer from telephobia-the fear of speaking on the phone.

Telephobia is a form of social anxiety, even people who feel perfectly comfortable in social situations may also experience telephobia. When speaking face to face, we give off lots of facial cues(暗示)that help each other follow the conversation.Very often the idea of speaking on the phone makes some people so frightened that they will freeze up or lose control of the conversation. However, there are things that they can do to ease this fear.

One thing that those with telephobia can do before making a call is smile.It won't get rid of the anxiety altogether, but it will take the edge off it. Similarly, imagining how the call will go before you make it can also help things go more smoothly.That will make you feel less nervous and may help you predict any possible problems.

Well, you don't always have to pick up the phone. There's nothing wrong with calling the person back later when you feel more comfortable. So the next time your phone starts ringing, remember-speaking on the phone doesn't have to make you nervous. The important thing is to be aware of your fear and take steps to deal with it.

    A. This is not the case over the phone.

    B. Their hearts may race at the very thought.

    C. What are the basic rules of making phone calls?

    D. Just run through a positive conversation in your head.

    E. What should you do when you're faced with receiving a call?

    F. It may sound silly, but smiling can help you feel more relaxed.

    G. Remember to smile politely when you are introduced to someone.

Free school meals are back in the news. Footballer Marcus Rashford's petition(请愿书)to extend free school meals provision into the school holidays has collected 1. 1 million signatures, causing the government to reverse (cancel officially) policy. It has restarted the debate over free school meals, fuelled, most recently, by figures forecasting that if the government ends as planned the current £20 top-up(附加款), another 200, 000 children will slip into poverty(陷入贫困). This is in addition to the 550, 000 children already living in poverty previous to COVID-19. The roots of the current school meals system lie in the mid-19th century. In Manchester, independent charities as well as official bodies started to provide free meals for undernourished children in the 1870s. When education became a must in the following decades, the extent of the issue became apparent. Proponentsof feeding starving children pointed out that it was due to government order that children were in school, not working and contributing to the family food budget(预算), so the government should pay.

Reception was mixed. Then, as now, children refused foods they weren't used to. Diaries of the time talk of "little bags of mystery (sausages)". Some children were put off brassicas(芥菜类)for life. Finding the balance between cheap and good proved hard. The chief medical officer talked about the lack in calorie value and elements of a well-balanced diet which a needy child does not get at home, such as milk, cheese, eggs, green vegetables, fruit and meat. In 1980, the Tory government, desperate to cut costs, made provision largely optional and reversed nutritional standards. Over the next 15 years, convenience and cost became the most important.

Today, school meals provision is linked to benefits: in England around 17 per cent of children are entitled to free school meals. Provision is outsourced(外包), leading to huge variation. In the last year, we've seen all of the age-old debates repeated once more. How do we decide who is entitled? How do we guarantee quality? Who decides what children eat? Who pays? Undernutrition does not just have physical effects, but also affects behavior and ability to learn. It has a lifelong impact. The arguments around free school meals seem never to end. But they are hugely important, and until poverty is ended, they will not and should not go away.

(1)、What is the ultimate result of Marcus Rashford's petition?
A、It can raise fund for hunger relief for children. B、It has restarted the debate over free school meals. C、It can help prevent more children becoming poor. D、It has driven the government to cancel free school meals.

Commercial aviation(航空)alone contributes around three percent of total global carbon emissions(排放). But the industry is actively looking for green solutions in the form of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). In a study released this week, a team of researchers from the U. S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) details a method of transforming food waste into SAF that can be used in existing engines. Making SAF is a more complicated process-it's got to be very similar to the petrol-based aviation fuel we use today in commercial flights.

The researchers use volatile fatty acids(挥发性脂肪酸)(VFAs) from smelly food waste and transform it into simple paraffin molecules(石蜡分子)that can be used in fuel and really aren't all that chemically different from traditional emissions-heavy fuels. There are other renewable biofuels that have been made from biomass(生物质), specifically oil and fat from vegetables and animals, but using the ever-mounting pile of food waste to fuel flights broadens those possibilities.

Derek Vardon, a senior research engineer at NREL, says major companies are eager to get involved in SAF because some sustainable solutions, such as battery-operated commercial flights, just aren't possible yet with current battery technology. A battery-powered plane would be too heavy to fly long distances-"So using SAF that works in the same way as the fuel we have is a simpler way to trade out traditional emissions-heavy fuels. " Vardon also says that "because the wet waste would normally go to a landfill and break down to release greenhouse gases, the process of making and using SAF could actually have a negative carbon footprint when it is dramatically used. "

A major question as the researchers move forward with this type of research is if it is possible to run an airplane engine on fully renewable biofuel. Rolls-Royce recently did a test on one of their engines with 100 percent SAF and it worked. "This fuel is not crazy and we can solve these problems, " Vardon says.

(1)、Which of the following is TRUE about SAF?
A、It can be used to reduce carbon emissions globally. B、It's less functional than the petrol-based aviation fuel. C、It's composed of VFAs and simple paraffin molecules. D、It is virtually impossible to be made from biomass like oil and fat.
(2)、What is the focus of Vardon's words in paragraph 3?
A、The benefits of food rubbish-generated SAF. B、The environmental impacts of the wet waste. C、The simple process of making and using SAF. D、The future of battery-operated commercial flights.
(3)、What is the author's purpose of referring to Rolls-Royce's test in the last paragraph?
A、To promote its production. B、To confirm the potential of SAF. C、To show off its powerful airplane engines. D、To express doubt about the research.
(4)、Which of the following can be the best title for the text?
A、Natural emergence of renewable biofuels B、Green alternative to emissions-heavy fuels C、Unavoidable decline of commercial aviation D、Gradual reduction in greenhouse gas emissions

Female figure skaters aren't really expected to be able to do triple axels(三周半跳). Especially not older ones—in the Olympics, that means older than 20. Mirai Nagasu did both, nailing the jump in competition at 24 during the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. She was the first American woman to land a triple axel in the Olympic Games-and only the third woman to do it.

Nagasu's been pursuing her own path since she was just 5. "My parents used to take me golfing(打高尔夫球)every day because that was the career they wanted me to have, "she wrote. "They took me ice skating one day because we couldn't go golfing due to the rain, and after that, I kept asking to be taken to go skating. " Her ambition paid off eventually, beginning with a host of Four Continents and ISU World Junior Championship medals and ending with two World Championship and two Olympic appearances each.

Unlike other popular athletes who've traded childhood for training, Nagasu had to attend public school by day and help her parents in their restaurant by night. "They really taught me to work for what I want, " she said. That lesson was put to the test in 2014, when despite taking third place at the U. S. Figure Skating Championships, Nagasu was passed over for the Olympic team in favor of fourth-place finisher Ashley Wagner. Some athletes might have taken off their skates for good at that point. Instead, Nagasu got a new coach and learned the triple axel. After two years under his instruction, she displayed her new skill in the U. S. National Championships. By the time she tried it on Olympic ice in 2018, she'd perfected it. Nagasu performed the difficult three-and-a-half jump, helping her team win a bronze medal(铜牌) in the end.
