In Xi' an, a school has become popular. In this school, each class has a piece of land to plant or keep animals. Students do farm work  a week  the help of the teachers. There  also a zoo in the school. It helps  get on well with animals. The school has  up a greenhouse with fruit trees for the students to learn about nature, instead of just listening to their teachers in the classroom.

A teacher said,"This is not  a farm. It helps students have a  understanding of life than before." Do the students like the school? Sure, they  enjoy the colourful school life because they can take care of everything on  own.

When do you go to sleep every night? Many students don't want to  to bed early. They enjoy  TV and playing computer games at night.

A survey shows that 1/4 students can't sleep for nine  a night. They often feel tired at school  they don't have enough sleep. In Scotland, some schools have a new subject—— Sleep.The teachers there tell the students how to sleep . Many students like it. They think it's good their and study.

A 15-year-old boy ,"Now I go to bed at 10:00 every night. The  day, I usually get up early and then do  for an hour. I feel very great."

Hello！ My name is Frank and I am  11-year-old boy. In my free time, I always play ping-pong

 it is my favourite sport. Playing ping-pong is also a good way to relax. I haveeating habits. For breakfast, I always have an egg and a cup of milk. For lunch, I usually have rice or noodles with vegetables.  dinner, I usually have chicken or beef. I never eat ice-cream because it is bad for  health. What's more, I don't want to be fat.

Gary loves cooking very much."My mom isn't good at  and I don't like her food, either,"Gary says."When I watched cooking shows on TV, I thought I could do it. So I went to the bookstore and bought a cookbook there."

John is my good friend. This term he  in a new school——Sunshine Middle School. He says it is the  school in Zhengzhou. There  many good teachers and they all work hard.They always  students learn something new. He thinks their  are very interesting.Miss Yang is his Chinese teacher and he likes her very much. With her help, John's  is very good now.

Now John  with his parents and sister in Zhengzhou.  father is an art teacher. He draws pictures very well. John is friendly  he often helps us to draw pictures on the blackboard. Those pictures are beautiful and we all like .

Born into a family of heroes in Guangdong in 1925,Peng Shilu lived a difficult life. When he was under 5 years old, his parents died, so he moved from family to family and was taken care of by many kind people.

In 1940, Peng was taken to Chongqing and later studied in Yan' an. In 1951, he went abroad(国外) to study chemical engineering and got good grades.

In 1956, Peng Shilu was asked, "Do you want to change your research(研究) field?"

"Of course, as long as the motherland needs me!" With the strong belief, Peng Shilu began to study nuclear power(核能) at once. After many experiments and failures, in 1970, China's first nuclear submarine(潜艇) was built and China became the fifth country in the world to have a nuclear submarine.

Peng Shilu died at the age of 96. As a pioneer(先锋) in nuclear power, he is remembered by the people and the country. He was named"Touching China's Figure of the Year 2021".

As teenagers, we should learn the selfless spirit from Peng Shilu. From now on, we should study hard and try our best to serve the motherland in the future.

[跨文化:丝绸之路] The first China-Central Asia Summit(中国——中亚峰会) was held in Xi' an, China on May 18th and 19th. Xi' an had another name, Chang' an, in the past. It was the starting place of the SilkRoad(丝绸之路). At that time, Chang' an, as one of the greatest cities in the world, had a large number of people. Many traders(商人) brought things from their countries to Chang' an along the Silk Road. They usually spent months on it.

When Sarah was little, her family often went to Chinese restaurants on weekends, which sparked her love for Chinese food. In 2010, the then-20-year-old studied in China. Since then, she has tasted many more different foods and drinks from different places in the country like hot dry noodles in Hubei and morning tea in Guangdong.

Apart from these delicious foods, what impressed Sarah most, however, was the culture behind them.Take Sichuan food as an example. Since the province sits in a basin(盆地), Sichuan is quite humid. To get the dampness(湿气) out of the body, the people there prefer spicy food. Similarly, Yangzhou, which sits on the north bank of the Yangtze River, is"a land of fish and rice". Huaiyangcai, typical in Yangzhou,matches the personality of the land—— fresh, balanced and tolerant(宽容的). While in Guangdong, morning tea is not only about snacks but also about the pleasant time that we share with our friends and family.

"Traditional Chinese philosophy(哲学) has gone into every side of Chinese food culture," said Sarah."And this philosophical thinking also suggests that people's diet should fit in with the natural environment in which they live."

[中华优秀传统文化:现代科技的命名方式]①So far, China has successfully sent a large number of satellites(卫星) and spaceships into space. Space scientists have been greatly inspired(赋予灵感) by the old stories and famous ancient people when giving them names.

②Since thousands of years ago, Chinese people have dreamed of going to the moon. Chang' e Flies to the Moon is one of the most popular stories. As you can see, China's first man-made satellite to circle around the moon was named Chang' e I. More interestingly, the moon rover(巡视器) was named after the JadeRabbit(玉兔), who is the partner of Chang' e in the story. These old stories carry people' s best wishes and dreams. With the development of science and technology, our scientists have made them come true.

③Kua Fu Runs After the Sun is another story to show how much ancient Chinese people wanted to know about the unknown world. Now, Kua Fu is going with the scientists to"visit" the sun, because we have a space project(项目) called Kua Fu Mission.

④Besides the ancient stories, space scientists also get ideas from famous ancient people. For example,Mozi, an ancient scientist, discovered that light travels in a straight line over 2,000 years ago. His discovery(发现) made space study take a big step at that time. So, China's first quantum(量子) satellite was named Mozi.

⑤From such simple things as giving names to the satellites, we can see how great our traditional culture is and what influence it has on our modern science and technology.

Paper-cut is  important art form in China. Paper-cuts were used for many purposes, and everything can become the theme(主题) of paper-cuts, from people to the things that can be  in everyday life such as birds, flowers and animals.

Each paper-cut brings out the personal  of the makers. People express traditional culture or own feelings with different styles of paper-cuts. For example,  someone gets married, we put up some red paper-cuts  the wall, dressing tables or other furniture to express our best wishes.

It is easy to learn paper-cut  very difficult to make it perfect. We need a long-time practice to learn how  the scissors(剪刀) and how to paint. Moreover, we  need to learn some cutting skills.

克服飞行恐惧

My name's Alice.Last week,I wanted to visit my cousin Alex.But there was a problem.He lived in New York then and I lived in China.I was afraid to fly in a plane.It was too high.My mum told me that it was fun.It was like being a bird.I said to myself,"Be brave, Alice.You can do it."

The next day,we got to the airport at 7 am.I got on the plane behind my parents.I sat in my seat.Then,the  plane  took  off.My  hands  became  wet( 湿 的 ) .But  when  the plane  flew in the air,I saw white clouds and the blue sky.They were so beautiful!Flying was not scary(害怕的)at all!

I was so proud of myself.I made it!

Today,for most people,"dinner"and"supper"mean the  same  thing.They  use  the  two  words  to talk about the main and last meal of the day.However,it wasn't always that way before.

In the past,people worked close to home.Around noon,they went home and ate their main meal一 dinner.Then,they went back to work.    ▲     ,they went home and had a light meal—supper

When the industry(工业)started,people  didn't work  close to home  anymore.Because  of that,they couldn't get back home for lunch.So they had a light meal at noon and called it lunch.Also,they moved dinner after work and made it big.Soon,it was the way to call the last meal of the day.
