Salad is a kind of healthy food. It is colourful. Eating salad is good for us. Vegetables and fruit give us vitamins and nutrients (营养). They help us grow strong and stay healthy. Many women choose salad as a healthy and convenient (方便的) lunch, because it doesn't need heating. There are two main (主要的) kinds of salad. They are fruit salad and vegetable salad. Making salad is fun. It is easy to make and you can create your own special mix. First, you can buy some vegetables or fruit for salad in supermarkets. Then you can wash and cut the vegetables or fruit. Next, you can add some salad sauce (酱) and lemon juice to the vegetables or fruit. Mix all the things together at last. Now you can enjoy your salad with your family or your friends. 

We often hear the saying: Like father, like son. Kids are often like their parents. They may look the same, act the same and enjoy the same things.This may because kids learn from their parents. More importantly, they carry genes(基因) from their parents. There are about 30,000 genes in your body.They make you YOU! You get some genes from your mum and some from your dad. They decide(决定) things like your hair colour, eye colour and how tall you can be! Sometimes, genes do not show up(出现) in your parents. But they show up in you. 

For example, your parents have double eyelids(双眼皮), but you have single eyelids(单眼皮). That's because both of your parents have single eyelid genes. When they pass down the genes to you, these genes show up in you.

Every one of us is a fun mix(混合) of our parents. But what interesting genes do we get from our mums, and what do we get from our dads?
