Twenty-five years ago,most young Britons wanted a career in law,to be a doctor,or,if they were creative enough,to take up singing.But today,things stand differently.

According to a survey by Tesco Mobile,a UK company,the "dream job" of young people aged between 16 and 25 in the UK is being a video blogger,or a vlogger.The survey,carried out among 1,002 people,found that as much as 40 percent of them put vlogger as their number one choice on a list of ideal careers.

This change is undoubtedly as a result of the Internet and social media.They have made it so much easier to reach audience of the world,without having to enter a career in show business in the traditional way.

In the past,the biggest stars were trained by the Holly-wood studios;now,anyone with a computer camera can become a star.Vloggers are the biggest stars today because they are normal people interacting with their fans about everyday life.

However,what people see is only the bright side of being a vlogger and they fail to notice the fact that only those who are successful can earn fame and fortune.For every success there are hundreds of others who never get off the starting line.There are the dreams that come true and the dreams that remain dreams forever.

Although being bloggers is popular,some young people choose to follow careers that don't necessarily earn them fame,but allow them to make good use of the Internet to share their hobbies.Young Israeli David Leshaw,for example,runs a business called the Finishers Club.It's an online platform for runners to keep a record of their races.His job allows him to express his enthusiasm,and is always a learning experience.And that's enough for him.

It is amazing how many of the things in science fiction and movies have become reality.For instance,in the movie Star Trek,the workers could go to a replicator(复制器) and order food,drinks or anything they could program into the computer.Before long,the item would appear.This is possible today,in a way,with technology we have had for years.

Several manufacturers(制造商) have created 3D printers.One company,MakerBot,has created a printer that the average person can afford.It is called The Replicator.You can download a lot of design software from the Internet for use with The Replicator.In the near future,rather than going to a store to buy what you need,you may be able to download what you want from the Internet and print it out at home.

The process was first used with music.At the very beginning,music was recorded onto plastic disks with etching(蚀刻法).Music can now be copied without a physical product.____ Rather than having to buy a physical book or magazine,you can now download them from the Internet in digital form.

This technology is already used in engineering and architecture.Melissa Shoes,a Brazilian foot wear company,is using this technology to create shoes.Rather than having to go through the current process of product design and development,the company is able to design and print shoes for display to see how well they will sell before having lots of them made.

According to a new research,the more people in a country who have a particular gene(基因),the happier the nation will be.This DNA is known as the FAAH gene.People with a particular version of it tend to be cheerier souls.There is a link between levels of the FAAH gene and the number of people who say they are very happy.

Sweden—one of the happiest countries in the world—also has lots of happy DNA.Ghana,Nigeria,Mexico and Columbia all come out near the top in the happiness league,and have high rates of the gene.In contrast,the people of Iraq,Jordan and China are among the least likely to rate themselves as very happy and also have the lowest level of the FAAH gene.

However,wealth and health are found to have little effect on happiness.The finding could help explain why some of the world's poorest nations are also the happiest.In addition,the FAAH gene and an optimistic attitude would not always go hand in hand.For example,Russians and Estonians score very low in happiness,despite having the right happy DNA.

Professor Michael Minkov said,"The climate condition is associated with the nation's happiness.We can notice the high occurrence of the FAAH gene in tropical(热带的) areas in the Americas and Africa.And the occurrence of the gene around the Mediterranean Sea is much lower than that in Northern Europe."

The social experts say that genetics is not the only determinant(决定因素) of happiness.The economic and political difficulties in some nations also contribute to the very low happiness scores.Nations that are not blessed with the right DNA aren't necessarily miserable.
