As a child I once read a story of two men who walked 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada with huge packs,  caught my eye, as L, too, dreamed of adventures in the wilderness. I've always remembered that story,never believed I would actually make it. It was too far out of my comfort zone.

But then, at the age of 42, I(hike) the 88 Temples Trail through Japan There, I experienced how attractive it could be to hike alone.impressed me most were the fantastic mountains, grand temples and generous local people.

When I shared my plan friends and colleagues, the news was welcomed with mixed(react). From some I got enthusiastic approval. But from others there were frowns and question marks. Half a year away from my family waschallenge for me. Yet it wouldn't defeat me. After all, six months is(simple) a short period in a lifetime.(work) hard for 20 years in shiny office buildings, I felt the need for more adventure in my life. I hoped to slow down and look within, as well as explore the unfamiliar things. I understood that I needed them both.John Muir once said, "Keep close to nature… and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean."

The story goes that some time ago, a man punished his 3-year-old daughter for wasting a roll of gold wrapping paper. Money was1 , so he became2 when the child tried to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree.3 , the little girl brought the gift to her father the next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy."

In a very real sense, each one of us, as humans beings, has been given a gold container fled with14 love and kisses...from our children, family members, friends, and God. There is simply no other possession, anyone could hold, more15 than this.

Power of Self Talk

Life is like a big swing. dangling between the depths of happiness and sadness. To overcome tough times you have to cheer yourself up. When you are feeling low and confused, this can be done effectively by self-talk.

It can be effectively used for soul searching. When talking to ourselves, we hardly lie as our conscience controls our speech. Self talk is useful because when we speak out our thoughts, it makes a larger effect on our brain.This repetition talks and thoughts pass message to our brain.

Self-talk is a software, which when properly loaded onto our mind directs ourselves for better results and a healthy mind. Actually many times in our life, we find others advising us to do better in studies, sports, life etc. We usually blank our cars out of their suggestions.And when something comes from within you, you always try your best to do it.

If you are a shy person and you want to be the outgoing person like your friend next door, all you need to do is talk to yourself." I am a natural born speaker." "I do like people and speaking comes naturally to me." "I just have to be ready to listen and speak". If you are highly confident to do better, there is no better motivator(动机) than self-talk..

More than half of the 1,000 consumers surveyed by Credit Karma said they have impulsively(冲动地) shopped to deal with feelings of stress, anxiety or depression. Twenty-three percent of respondents said they've maxed out (刷爆) a credit card in the past year.

As for age, 68 percent youngsters, responded by saying they have experienced it in the past, compared to 53 percent of the middle-aged and only 26 percent of the old

In regards to genders, 48 percent of men and 31 percent of women who have stress spent said they had purchased alcohol when stressed. Eighty-two percent of women stress spent on clothing compared to 52 percent of men. Women also lead stress spending for jewellery, 42 percent, compared to 22 percent for men with men stress spending more for electronics 44 percent while 30 percent for women.

In fact, shopping to reduce stress can actually help you live a healthier life by making sure that your blood pressure is lowered. Shopping to relieve stress is also called shopping therapy (疗法) as a form of reducing stress.

The survey found that that 82 percent had only positive feelings about their purchases and that the positive mood boost that followed those purchases was long-lasting.

However, the side effect of shopping therapy, for many, can start out as a relatively harmless mood booster but could possibly grow into a financial loss, cause conflict, and therefore add a large amount of stress to a person's life.

Adults usually do not remember most of the things that are taught by their teachers at school. But this story is one such lesson that I will never forget. Every time I drift off course, I think of this story.

It was a normal Monday morning, and my teacher was teaching us on important things in life and about devoting ourselves to what is important to us. This is how the story went

An old man lived in a certain part of London, and he would wake up every morning and go to the subway. He would get onto the train right to Central London, and then sit at the street corner and beg. He would do this every single day of his life. He sat at the same street corner and begged for almost 20 years.

His house was dirty, and a stench(恶臭) came out of the house and it smelled terrible. The neighbors could not stand the smell any more, so they called for the police officers to clear the place. The officers knocked down the door and cleaned the house. There were small bags of money all over the house that he had collected over the years.

The police counted the money, and they soon realized that the old man was a millionaire (百万富翁). They waited outside his house expecting to share the good news with him. When the old man arrived home that evening, one of the officers told him that there was no need for him to beg any more as he was a rich man now, a millionaire.

But the old man said nothing at all; he went into his house and locked the door. The next morning he woke up as usual, went to the subway, sat at the street corner and continued to beg.

Clearly, this old man had no great plans, dreams or anything significant for his life. We learn nothing from this story other than staying focused on the things we enjoy doing.

Many people influenced various aspects of my life, based on their personal characteristics, accomplishments, and values. I have been fortunate to have had numerous teachers and professors who I respect for their patience and intelligence. There are artists that have inspired me by their natural talents and original creativity. I value many political leaders, who have inspired me by their contributions to society, and their ability to change our futures. But of all the people I have known in my life, the person I admire most is my father.

As the youngest girl in my family, I always considered myself to be "Daddy's little girl". While I grew up, it always made me sad to see so many of my friends and neighbors without a father or father-like figure around. This helped me appreciate how my father always takes an interest in his children's lives. In every aspect of my life my father continuously pushes me to excel, so I could accomplish my work outstandingly among my people. Whenever I feel like giving up, or have a question or a concern, I know I can always call on him for advice. From him I have also learned that sometimes you have to put others' needs ahead of your own, but you should make sure you are not taken advantage of by others. His strength seems to be unbreakable during hard times, and he is extremely determined to accomplish anything he sets his mind on, no matter how tiny it is. I highly respect him for how he stands up for what he believes in, and will never back down. He is a very reserved man, but to everybody's surprise, he has a great sense of humor, and always knows how to put a smile on the faces of his wife, his children and his friends.

Living in his love and instruction, I am very proud of my father. He also professes how proud he is of his children, and is still there to support us in whatever we are involved in.

If you're looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, National Geographic 'Travel says visitors should head to Jerusalem to celebrate Easter with thousands of pilgrims (朝圣者). If the crowds get too huge, visitors are told to take a boat ride to King Herod's 2,000-year-old Masada fortress (要塞) or set off on a peaceful morning boat ride across the sea of Galilee.

Panama

Costa Rica and the Caribbean often enjoy much more popularity than Panama, but visitors should consider the centre American country if they want a "less-crowded paradise". The travel site states, "Here, horses are still the primary means of transportation and local fishermen serve fresh seafood and fruit from their home kitchens for roughly $ 6 a plate."

Svalbard

If you're a fan of winter activities, but are in need of some sun, then perhaps a trip to Svalbard is a good choice. National Geographic Travel notes, "The Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard is located about 620 miles south of the North Pole. In late spring, the sun never falls below the horizon—meaning you can take in all the Vitamin D you desire." Popular activities in the area include hiking and wildlife spotting.

Namibia

During spring, Namibia is regarded as the perfect destination with reduced travel costs on cooler evenings. In late May, National Geographic Travel says that the watering holes start to dry up again, which attracts giraffes and black rhino from their hiding spots. If you're fond of adventurous exploration, head to the Namibia Desert for a spot of sand boarding.

I think Luca and I live in different universes. Like yesterday. One of our division problems had the number 9, 999. She said, "All those nines. They feel so. . . so purple!" Purple? I see numbers as logical and orderly. Not as colors. 

However, our teacher assigned us two for a class project. We had to do a report on the rose willow (红柳). No way could I work with someone who said nines felt purple. 

At our first meeting, we came up with a plan. Luca would make a 

1. 5-meter tall tree, and I would write the report. But on Monday, just one week before the due, Luca said she was leaving to visit her grandfather but there was no room for a tree in the car. That means I, the one who can't even draw a stick figure, would have to make the tree. And she, the one who doesn't like to think logically, would have to write the report. 

I reminded her of some things she should include in the report, such as its characteristics, distribution and function. "Please be at my house at 2:00 on Sunday," I said. While she'd gone, I made the tree according to some directions online. 

Sunday arrived. Luca turned up carrying only a digital recorder. "What's that for? " I asked. "Where's the report?" She said, "A written report doesn't feel right, so I use feelings." I tried to keep my voice calm, "Rose willows don't have feelings." "But my grandfather does," Luca said. "I interviewed my grandfather about how he planted trees in the desert. Listen."

A scratchy(沙哑的) voice came on. "The dry, hot weather makes it difficult for anything to survive. For five years, the seedlings we planted were all dead." I looked sideways at Luca. Her nose was scrunched up(吱嘎作响). So was mine. He continued. 

"We felt hopeless. Suddenly a young life swaying in the wind caught our eye. All of us cried—such joy. All my life, I remember that feeling, of seeing the little tree." Luca turned off the recording and said, "He talks more, about living there and working there."

Today, I would like to address an issue that we teenagers relate to in our lives: stress.
