You already know that playing sports helps keep you fit. But you might not know why it's so important to get a sports physical at the beginning of your sports season.

 Most require students have a sports physical before they can play school sports. But even if a sports physical isn't required, doctors still recommend getting one if you are active in any sports.

A sports physical can help find out and deal with health problems that might affect your sports performance or increase the chance of getting hurt. For example, if you have frequent asthma (哮喘) attacks, the doctor can change your medicines.  Your doctor may offer training tips or recommend exercises or physical therapy (疗法) to help you avoid injuries.

Most teens go to their regular doctor's office to get a sports physical, since your doctor knows you and your health history best. Some get their sports physical at school.  Each one is armed with a medical professional who does a specific part of the physical exam.

Plan your sports physical at least 6 weeks before your sports season starts.  Neither you nor your doctor will be very happy if your sports physical is the day before baseball practice starts and it turns out there's something that needs to be taken care of before you can suit up.

Sports physicals are usually good for 1 year, though you probably will have to complete a sports form each season. If there are any changes in your health history, like a new injury or you notice new symptoms (症状), you may need to see the doctor before being allowed to play. .

The Mona Lisa is the famous Leonardo da Vinci painting of a woman with a mysterious smile. This week, the painting gave up a secret.

Scientists used X-rays to examine the chemical organization of an extremely small part of the more than 500-year-old painting. The researchers discovered a technique Leonardo used in the work. A team in France and Britain discovered an oil paint used for the Mona Lisa was a special, new chemical mixture. It suggests that the Italian artist may have been in an experimental mood when he set to work on the painting early in the 16th century.

"He was someone who loved to experiment, and each of his paintings is completely different technically," said Victor Gonzalez. He is the study's lead writer. "In this case, it's interesting to see that indeed there is a specific technique for the ground layer of the Mona Lisa," he said in an interview with The Associated Press. Specifically, the researchers found a rare compound, plumbonacrite (水蛭石), in Leonardo's first layer of paint. The discovery, Gonzalez said, proved that da Vinci most likely used lead oxide to thicken and help dry his paint.

The scientists looked into its atomic structure using X-rays in a synchrotron (同步加速器). The machine moves particles at close to the speed of light, permitting researchers to look deeper into the paint structure. "Plumbonacrite is really a fingerprint of his recipe," Gonzalez said. "It's the first time we can actually chemically prove it."

Dutch artist Rembrandt may have used a similar mixture when he was painting in the 17th century. Gonzalez and other researchers have found plumbonacrite in his work, too. "It also tells us that those recipes were passed on for centuries," Gonzalez said. "It was a very good recipe."

But the Mona Lisa and additional works by Leonardo still have other secrets to tell. "There are plenty, plenty more things to discover," Gonzalez said. "What we are saying is just a little brick more in the knowledge."

In a heartwarming tale from Georgia, a 72-year-old senior recently celebrated his college graduation in cinema studies, an achievement made even more special by the presence of his proud 99-year-old mother.

Sam Kaplan of Lawrenceville decided to start on his educational journey at Georgia Gwinnett College in 2019, half a century after he had firstly chosen not to get higher education following his high school graduation in 1969. The catalyst for his return to academia came when he heard a radio announcement about a degree programme in cinema studies.

Recalling that moment, Kaplan said, "I was driving down the highway when I heard about the degree programme. The next exit led to Collinsville, so I immediately exited, and within five minutes, I was enrolling in classes. I've always had a passion for writing and storytelling. I longed to transform my narratives into screenplays, but I realized I needed the basic knowledge to do so,"

Kaplan admitted that the journey was a mix of anxiety and excitement, but it proved to be greatly rewarding. He graduated with a 3.975 grade point average and perfect grade honours, majoring in cinema and media arts, and had desires to continue creating screenplays in the future.

"It was an exciting and nerve-wracking (神经紧张的) challenge. Re-recognizing myself with the art of studying and communicating with fellow students was a lot of fun," he told FOX5 Atlanta.

The most heartwarming thing of Kaplan's graduation day was the presence of his mother, 99-year-old Virginia Kaplan, during the ceremony. Virginia expressed her huge pride, saying, "I am so proud of him. He faced numerous challenges but insisted, and I am delighted, pleased, and extremely proud," the mother also added. "With his new degree, he's going to stand out in whatever he does. Who knows, I might even make an appearance in the movies."

Onni always had a great time with his grandad in winter because his grandad would teach him how to ski and they sometimes went for trips in the nearby woods.

When Onni turned ten, his grandad told him he was old enough to go with him into the Finnish wilderness. Therefore, one day, they put on their skis and set off into the forest, travelling for several kilometres while the sky turned dark above them. Eventually, they arrived at a silent and beautiful wooden cabin. Grandad managed to push the door open. Inside, it was icy-cold and smelled damp and musty.

"Now we need a fire!" said grandad. He pointed at the pot-belly stove in the corner.

They collected armfuls of wood and chopped them up. Before long, a fire lighted up the cabin with a golden light! The old man pulled out a pan and began frying some sausages.

Onni stared out of the window. "What animals live out here?" he asked. "Oh, the forest is full of life!" his grandad answered. "I have seen snow hares, stags, bears and snowy owls. There was only one creature we never managed to see."

"What was that?" asked Onni. He was curious!

"Firefox! They say that during the day: his fur is inky-black. But at night, it shines with the most amazing colours! The light of his fur is supposed to brighten up the night sky at midwinter creating the wonderful glow that we call the Northern Lights, which always guide the people lost in forests."

Grandad sighed. "I always wanted to see this beast! It is said that whoever spots the Firefox would be blessed." Hearing this Onni looked out of the window again in the hope of being the lucky one.

Grandad turned the sausages over as they sizzled (发出咝咝声) in the pan. "Why don't you get some more firewood, Onni?" he suggested. Onni ventured out (冒险外出) again. As the boy was gathering more wood, he heard a sound and saw a glow in the trees.

Acts of Kindness. A research study found that participants who participated in acts of kindness reported a greater decrease in anxiety when compared to controls. . A smile, encouraging words, or baking cupcakes for your housemates are all simple acts of kindness.

Take in the Beautiful Things. Mindfulness of the present moment allows us to surf through the anxieties we experience. . On the other hand, when we try to shut out anxiety, we also run the risk of shutting out the pleasant things.
