Wholesale prices for gas and electricity are increasing suddenly across Europe, raising the possibility of increases in already-high utility (公共事业)bills and further pain for people who have taken a financial hit fromCOVID-19.
Governments are struggling to find ways to limit costs to consumers as scantnatural gas reserves present yet another potential problem, exposing the continent to even more price increases and possible shortages if it's a cold winter.
In the U.K., many people will see their gas and electricity bills rise next month after the nation's energy regulator approved a 12% price increase for those without contracts that lock in rates. Officials in Italy have warned that prices will increase by 40% for the quarter that will be billed in October.
There are multiple causes for the price increases, energy analysts say, including tight supplies of natural gas used to generate electricity, higher costs for permits to release carbon dioxide as part of Europe's fight against climate change, and less supply from wind in some cases.
Analysts at S&P Global Plattssay electricity prices have risen due to strong demand from places like data centers and electric cars, but above all because of the rise in the price of natural gas used in generating plants. Utility companies' exposure to natural gas prices has increased as high-emission coal plants have been retired, while utilities face higher costs for carbon allowances required by the European Union's emissions trading system, which is aimed at reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.
The tight gas market could bite even more sharply if there's an unusually cold winter. That's because European distributors did not refill reserves reduced during last winter as they typically had done in summer months. In March 2008, when the freeze named "the beast from the east" hit Europe, industrial users in the U.K got a notice that there was a risk of interruption, although it didn't come to that.
Could Europe run out of gas? "The short answer is Yes, this is a real risk," said James Huckstepp, an analyst at S&P Global Platts. "Storage stocks are at record lows and there isn't currently any spare supply capacity that is exportable anywhere in the world.Thelonger answer is that it's hard to predict how it will play out given that Europe has never run out of gas in two decades under the current distribution system."
(1)、What does the underlined word "scant" in Paragraph 2 probably mean?A、Total. B、Additional. C、Limited. D、Regular.(2)、What has actually led to the rise of electricity prices?A、The closure of some coal plants. B、The great demand for electric cars. C、The competition between utility companies. D、The change in the emissions trading system.(3)、Why could an unusually cold winter make the gas market tighter?A、More natural gas will be needed for industrial use. B、European distributors don't make good preparations. C、It is not easy to fill reserves during the cold weather. D、Utility companies work can be easily interrupted.(4)、What can we learn from James Huckstepp'swords in the last paragraph?A、Europe is expected to seek help from other countries. B、It is hard to control the gas price in Europe at present. C、Europe might face a serious shortage of gas in the future. D、There's something wrong with Europe's distribution system. -

Physical education, or PE, isn't required for all high school students. In some schools, it isn't offered for some different reasons. But should high school students have physical education? The answer is certainly "yes".
Today many people don't do sports. But as is known to all. doingsports is very important for an adult. Teaching teens the importance of a healthy lifestyle and making fitness plans now can help teens put exercise in the first place as an adult.
High school isn't that easy. Many students are under a lot of stress. Stress can be harmful to a student's studies and life. Doing sports can help them deal with stress better, helping them live a happier life at school.
The American Heart Association says that 10 million kids and teens suffer from obesity (肥胖). Teens should get 60 minutes of physical activity per day to control their weight and to help their bones get stronger. The increase in activities that don't get teens to move around, such as computer games, means many teens don't get their required exercise. PE classes act as a public health measure (措施) to encourage physical activities and help teens have healthy weights.
Not doing sports increases teens' hazard of developing many diseases. An active lifestyle offers a good way of protection from these health problems. As much as 75 percent of health-care spending goes toward treating medical conditions that can be prevented by lifestyle changes, according to the American College of Sports Medicine.
According to the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition (PCFSN), students who performed five hours of physical activities each week improved their academic (学业的) performance. Students from programs with no physical activity, who used the extra time for classroom study, did not perform better on tests than those who gave up some study time in support of physical education.
(1)、According to Paragraph 2, what does physical education in high school mean?A、Making teens attach importance to ęxerciselater. B、Removing the stress faced by teens at school. C、Getting teens to encourage adults to exercise. D、Helping teens learn to make good plans(2)、What does the underlined word "hazard" in Paragraph 5 mean?A、Happiness. B、Risk. C、Safety. D、Sadness.(3)、According to the PCFSN, doing sport ____.A、means making students choose between sports and studies B、helps students make good use of all their time C、means students adjust to their studies better D、helps students do better in their studies(4)、What is the text mainly about?A、Why high school students should receive physical education. B、Why some schools consider physical education important. C、How schools can help students love doing sports. D、How high school students can live a better life. -

Mike Mushawjoined the national bone marrow registry (骨髓登记) three years ago by chance. Six months later, he got a call. The 21-year-old football player's bone marrow matched a patient in Virginia. Mushawgave a second thought to the donation, because apart from some risks, he never knew whether his donation worked.
"Finally I said yes," Mushawtold the journalist. "Once they took my blood, I thought, ‘All right, this is real. This is going to happen.'"
Mushawdidn't know it at the time, but his donation would go to a five-month-old girl named Eleanor who was sick with a rare disease diagnosed when she was only three months old. Days and weeks passing, her condition had become more dire.
"Eleanor was going to die without a bone marrow transplant," her mother, Jessica, said. "The choices were to either get a transplant or die early. Luckily, Mushaw'sbone cured her."
Mushawdidn't know any of this until months after his donation. About six months after the procedure, Eleanor's parents sent him an e-mail to thank him for his selfless love.
Their surprising connection was beginning. Mushawkept checking on her progress. Eleanor focused her attention on him, too, by watching his football games on TV. In August, Mushawinvited her family to drive from Virginia to Connecticut to meet at one of his games. They had a good time together.
In January, Mushawreunited with Eleanor, this time in Virginia, to celebrate her birthday. It will likely be first of many celebrations together. "As a parent, it feels really great to watch someone love your kid as much as you do," Jessica says. "We were two complete strangers, and now we've become such a big part of each other's lives."

You may have recently seen a video from the Beijing Wildlife Zoo becoming a hit. What exactly was so interesting about this video? It shows a dog playing with big cats four to five times its size! Many people might wonder if this dog has a death wish, but it seems that the dog and the big cats are good friends.
The dog was actually raised alongside the lion and tiger cubs, making up an odd but loving family, according to zoo officials. As opposed to the common belief, cross-species friendship has been around for centuries. People have domesticated many animals, most notably cats and dogs, and formed bonds with them as pets. Perhaps you even have a pet yourself.
There are many other instances of cross-species friendships.
At an animal sanctuary in Santiago, Chile, a jaguar named Marina and a deer named Laura formed a friendship after they both came to the park. As neither animal had a mother, sanctuary staff said they instantly bonded when they met. Laura had been rescued from a slaughterhouse while Marina had been rescued from the street.
One possible explanation for these friendships is the environment of the zoo. Animals don't hunt for their food and don't need to worry about marking their territory or looking for mates in the way an animal in the wild would. "All those activities take time and energy, and if these needs are removed, the animals get bored," Gordon Burghardt, a psychologist at the University of Tenessee, US, told The Atlantic magazine. "In this particular situation, the animal's motivation to engage socially and playfully may be higher in its need hierarchy(等级)than eating."
Marc Bekoff, former biology professor at the University of Colorado, US, told Slate magazine, "I think the choices animals make in cross-species relationships are the same as they'd make in same-species relationships. Some dogs don't like every other dog. Animals are very selective about the other individuals who they let into their lives."
(1)、What is the common opinion about the friendship between animals?A、It's easier for dogs and cats to become friends. B、Animals tend to play with peers of the same species. C、The friendship between animals is not solid and reliable. D、It's common that animals of different species can become friends.(2)、Why are Marina and Laura mentioned in paragraph 4?A、To present a truth. B、To explain a phenomenon. C、To introduce the topic. D、To provide a proof.(3)、What's the key factor of the animals'friendship in the zoo according to Gordon Burghardt?A、The existing tradition. B、The influence by mates. C、The animals' inner social drive. D、The animals' raisers' instruction.(4)、What's the purpose of the passage?A、To appeal to people to treasure animals. B、To inform readers of a special friendship. C、To demonstrate the history of bringing up pets. D、To compare friendship between cross-species and same-species. -

Humans have been living and working on the space station for 20 years. Their meals are packaged, though sometimes astronauts receive fresh treats from resupply missions. The longer that packaged food is stored, the more it loses nutrients like vitamin C and vitamin K.
Astronauts have successfully grown 10 different crops on the space station since 2015 and had the chance to sample each one. The International Space Station hosted a party for astronauts on Friday as they celebrated the harvest of the first Chili (辣椒) grown in space. The crew finally had a chance to taste the peppers after initially kicking off the plant experiment on the space station in July.
Plant Habitat-04 is one of the most complex plant experiments on the orbiting laboratory to date because peppers take much longer to grow than the previous experiment plants. After growing for four months, the peppers were harvested on Friday.
Peppers provide a great source of vitamin C, as well as other key nutrients. Pepper plants self-pollinate, so they are easy to grow, and they are a pick-and-eat crop that doesn't have to be cooked. They are also safe to eat raw.
A side effect of life in zero gravity is that astronauts often lose some of their taste and smell, so spicy or well-seasoned foods are a favorite. Adding fresh greens or peppers to the menu allows astronauts to liven up their regular meals. But growing and tending to the plants can also produce other benefits.
Astronauts have described the joy from seeing—as well as smelling and caring for—leafy green plants on the space station that remind them of Earth.
"Growing colorful vegetables in space can have long-term benefits for physical and psychological health," said Matt Romeyn, principal investigator for the experiment." We are discovering that growing plants and vegetables with colors and smells helps to improve astronauts' well-being."
(1)、What does underlined "kicking off" in the 2nd paragraph mean?A、Launch. B、Complete. C、Quit. D、Announce.(2)、What makes Plant Habitat-04 one of the most complex plant experiments?A、The technology. B、Growing process. C、The varieties of plants. D、Growing time required.(3)、Why are peppers added to the menu for astronauts?A、They are delicious. B、They restore their appetite. C、They help kill diseases. D、They improve their memory.(4)、What is the suitable title forthe text?A、The Fun in the Space Life B、The Common Goal in the Space Mission C、The First Chili Peppers Grown in Space D、A Research Finding from the Space Mission -

In Rio, one of the points of attraction is doubtlessly the most famous beach in the world, the Copacabana. When the weather is right the Copa becomes a stage on which everyone can play a part. Rio's beaches, however, are bad news for swimmers. The surf is so striking. Often careless or over-courageous tourists must be pulled out of the water by a rescue(救援) team. In peak season during January and February, the helicopters of the governmental rescue organization, fly life-saving tasks from sunrise to sunset. Doctors also need to be on board when the control room reports an emergency(突发事件). The doctors and rescuers will do their best with the equipment available on board. If the patient shows no signs of recovery, therescue team decides to fly him to hospital.
In Rio, lifesaving is a man's job. The four-meter-high watchtowers are always manned. Alarm at tower number 5, a woman has swum too far out to sea and can't make it back to the beach by herself. One minute later the rescue team has reached the Copacabana. From a height of ten meters above the water, Luis Carlos jumps into the sea close to the helpless swimmer. His workmates on board must keep an eye on him so that they can tell the pilot in which position to keep the helicopter. Another man is in the water now to help calm the woman down and get her ready to be airlifted. The pilot must slowly control the helicopter sideways and aim carefully. Once the net is full, the helicopter slowly flies to the beach.
The air rescue team is back on duty again. In the course of the day, there are eight more emergencies. The daily record at the end of the day reads, "nothingunusual happens."
(1)、Which kind of person is more likely to have an accident in Copacabana?A、a man who can't swim B、a man who has nothing to worry about C、a man who fears the sea D、a man who was a doctor(2)、When the rescuer jumps into the sea to help the swimmer in danger, the helicopter will ____.A、fly to them as close as possible B、fly over them and wait for orders C、fly slowly to the beach D、fly to the hospital(3)、What can we infer from the text?A、TheCopacabana is a bad place for swimmers. B、After the rescuers pick up the patient, they will send them to hospital. C、If there is no accident, the rescue team will record "nothing unusual happens ". D、The helicopters of the rescue organization will fly tasks day and night. -

It is calculated that some of the world's 7,000 languages are in danger of getting extinct. "For example, Ainu, a language in Japan, is now seriously threatened, with only 10 native speakers remaining,"said lead study author Tatsuya Amano at the University of Cambridge in England.
The scientists found that 25 percent of the world's languages are threatened(威胁).After identifying where the endangered(濒危的)languages were, they looked for any environmental and social or economic factors those languages might have in common, such as poor areas or rapid population growth. "We find that at the global scale, language speaker declines are strongly linked to economic growth-that is, declines are particularly occurring in economically developed regions," said Amano.
"One important finding of this new study is that languages in the tropics and Himalayan region are likely to be increasingly threatened in the near future, because these regions still have many local languages with a small number of speakers, and at the same time are experiencing rapid economic growth," said Amano.
Economic growth may endanger languages for a variety of reasons. For instance, speakers of endangered languages may view another more popular language as offering economic opportunities, and thus abandon their own languages. "There are other important factors that might endanger languages," said the researchers. For instance, policies regarding how languages are used and taught in schools can be very different among countries and even within each country, and these factors may explain more detailed patterns in language endangerment.
Amano suggested it could be possible to forecast(预见)future threats to the diversity(多样化) of languages. "There exists detailed information on future changes in the environment, economies and climates(气候),"Amano said. "Using such information, together with the findings of this study and further analysis, we would like to understand what will happen to the world's languages, where it will happen and which languages will be threatened in particular."
(1)、What can we know about Ainu?A、It has changed little over the years. B、It threatens Japanese language. C、It is a local language in Japan. D、It is put under protection.(2)、What is paragraph 4 mainly about?A、What should be taught in schools. B、What might endanger a language. C、How economic growth is achieved. D、How a language becomes popular.(3)、What does Amano mean in the last paragraph?A、We must take action to save the environment. B、More and more languages will get missing. C、It will be easier to learn language changes. D、Factors threatening languages will double.(4)、What can be known from the study?A、Over7,000 languages have been threatened. B、Local language must be spoken in every school. C、It is possible to use only one language worldwide. D、The number of tropics' local language speakers may become smaller in the future. -

Empathy (同理心) is one of those strange qualities — something almost everyone wants, but few know how to truly give or receive it. In a world where self-satisfaction is emphasized, it is in short supply but high demand. This is all the more reason to teach the next generation what it means to have empathy for those around them.
What Is Empathy? — Many people confuse sympathy and empathy, but they are two distinct values. Empathy is not just the ability to understand someone's feelings; criminals often take advantage of people by appearing to understand their feelings and subsequently gaining their trust. Empathy is more than that. Not only is it the ability to recognize how someone feels, but it also values and respects the feelings of another person. It means treating others with kindness, dignity, and understanding.
Kids Need ToSee Adults Show Empathy — While some children are gifted with naturally kind hearts, in most cases kids need to see empathy modeled by the adults around them. It begins with the way parents relate to their children. Parents who show an interest in the things that matter to their kids and respond to emotions in a positive and caring way are teaching the skill of empathy.
Meet Emotional Needs — Whenchildren have their emotional needs met, two things happen. They learn how to meet the emotional needs of others and they are anchored in what they are receiving, meaning that they are secure enough to give to others when the need arises but first they need to receive. An empty jug cannot fill a cup.
It's a good idea to talk to kids about emotions and how other people experience them. Give their emotions names (for example, jealousy, anger, and love) and teach them that these are normal. Talk to them about how to handle emotions in a positive way and point out situations where other people are experiencing emotions. Teach them about respecting the emotions of others and show them how to act in a situation where a response is required.
(1)、Why is it that the next generation are taught to have empathy?A、Because people tend to center themselves. B、Because everyone lacks empathy. C、Because empathy is a strange quality. D、Because it's better to give than to receive.(2)、Which situation can empathy be used in?A、When a mathematician is calculating the area of a farmland B、When a teacher is comforting a student about his failure in exams. C、When a criminal is cheating a victim. D、When a dancer is dancing to music.(3)、What does the underlined sentence "An empty jug cannot fill a cup" mean?A、An empty jug is too small to hold a cup. B、It's a must to talk to kids about emotions. C、Adults should set an example to kids. D、Kids give empathy with their emotional needs met first.(4)、What is the main topic of the passage?A、How to train kids to have empathy. B、How to distinguish sympathy and empathy. C、How to help kids finish empathy-related tasks. D、Whether kids can be trained to be more empathetic. -

Steve Forest is a scientist. He's standing on an island off the coast of the Antarctic Peninsula. Below him are several hundred penguins and their children. Forrest's job is to count every one of them. It's snowing. There is a big wind, too. And their children won't stay still. Penguins are great climbers. So Forrest and the team members must be too. And penguins aren't always clean.
Forrest has been coming to Antarctica every January for six years. He's helping count the area's penguins. This will help researchers better understand the Antarctic environment. There used to be lots of penguins in Antarctica, "It's all because of climate change," Heather J. Lynch says seriously. She is leading the research team. The team member Noah Stryckeradds, "We know climate change is hitting the Antarctic Peninsula harder than anywhere else in the world. We are following the situation closely."
Scientists think that warming waters do harm to krill, the tiny animals that penguins eat. This is bad for the sea life. But krill are hard to study, so researchers pay attention to penguins. They're easier to follow. They return to the same place each year to lay eggs. If penguins aren't doing well ,krill probably aren't either. "Penguins give us an idea about what is going on in the sea around us," Forrest says.
This year, Lynch's research team uses a drone to help them. They fly it over an area to take pictures to count penguins.
Counting penguins is quite necessary. The more we learn, the more we know about krill and the ocean animals that depend on them. When we understand them, we can start fixing them. We should consider carefully what Lynch says: "What's happening in the Antarctic is happening everywhere."
(1)、What is required of scientists like Forrest according to Paragraph 1?A、Being clean. B、Being good at math. C、Being cool-headed. D、Being skilled in climbing.(2)、What's the point of counting penguins in the Antarctie?A、To protect this animal species from extinction. B、To help find out how many krill might be living C、To have a better knowledge of the Antarctic environment D、To collect first-hand data for analyzing global warming.(3)、What does the underlined word "them" in the last paragraph refer to?A、Scientists. B、Krill. C、Penguins. D、Ocean animals.(4)、What can be inferred from the text?A、Penguins lay eggs in the same place on the island every year. B、The penguin population is increasing due to climate change. C、The penguin population determines the krill population. D、Climate change is most obvious in the Antarctic Peninsula. -

A hospital has been forced to ban Pokemon Go players from the site after a monster hub (妖怪枢纽站) was found in the A&E department. Royal Stoke University Hospital discovered that its casualty unit(急诊室) is on the same spot as a Pokemon Go ‘gym' —— where players can train their newly caught Nintendo creatures.
The University Hospitals of North Midlands Trust agreed last week that patients can play Pokemon Go on wards because walking around is healthy. But the Trust has been forced to post a warning on its website about public access to A&E. It said if Pokemon Go becomes a major annoyance it would ask Nintendo—— which decides on the locations of the virtual gyms according using GPS——to have it removed from the premises(道馆).
Kevin Parker, associate chief nurse, said, "Members of the public who do not need to be at Royal Stoke should not attempt to enter A&E or any other part of the hospital building to play the game. The A&E department is incredibly busy this summer. We want the public to understand that anybody who visits the hospital solely to play the game will provide an unwanted distraction to the important work of the hospital. I'm also aware of various reports in the media of unsafe areas that the game has been played in."
"Royal Stoke University Hospital is a safe area where gamers can enjoy Pokemon Go." Michelle Harris, the Trust's manager, said the game could still be played by those already in hospital. "We recognize that the Pokemon Go game encourages walking and exercise, which is something that the Trust is equally keen to promote," she said.
There are a number of "walking routes" established throughout the Trust that can be used to combine walking and playing the game. "Walking just 30 minutes, five times a week, can help reduce the risk of preventable illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease."
There have been several warnings about the game since its UK release. Last week a group of teenagers in Wiltshire were left stranded almost 100ft underground after they got carried away searching for Pokemon Go characters. The four boys, aged 16 and 17, ended up getting lost and had to wait to get a phone signal before they could call for help. Eventually, they contacted Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue team, who took them to safety. Damien Bence, of the fire and rescue team, said: "Pokemon Go is obviously leading people into dangerous situations."
(1)、It seems that PokemonGo is a game____.A、encouraging players to walk and exercise instead of staying indoors B、helping cure such diseases as obesity, diabetes and heart disease C、designed to help patients in hospital recover sooner D、warning teenagers of the places easy to get lost or attacked(2)、The A&E department is incredibly busy because____.A、more patients' arrival increases the workload of the A&E department B、doctors' playing the game makes the A&E department less efficient C、players' injury increases the workload of the A&E department D、players' arrival disturbs the work of the A&E department(3)、The passage is mainly about____.A、the popularity of Pokemon Go since its UK release B、the applications of Pokemon Go in hospitals since its UK release C、the negative effects of Pokemon Go since its UK release D、the establishment of Pokemon Go virtual gyms since its UK release -

Chase Poustis a 7-year-old boy. He and his dad Steven, and his 4-year-old sister, Abigail were out for a family boating trip on Florida's St. Johns River near Mandarin Point. Chase and Abigail were swimming at the back end of the anchored boat while Steven was on deck (甲板) fishing.
It was an idyllic (悠闲) outing — until a strong wave came. It was too strong for Abigail to hold onto the boat. Instantly realizing his sister would be swept away, Chase let go of the boat as well to try and reach her.
Steven jumped into the water but after realizing he couldn't keep up with both kids, he was faced with a hard decision. "I told them I loved them because I wasn't sure what's going to happen," Steven told News-4 JAX. "I tried to stick with both of them. I wore myself out. She drifted away from me."
Directing Chase to swim to shore for help, Steven stayed behind, keeping as close as he could to Abigail as the life-vest that was keeping her above the waves floated further and further from his reach.
It was a tough go for the 7-year-old, but rather than attempting to swim all out, Chase wisely paced himself. Stopping to float or dog paddle when he was tired, he'd rest and then set off again. It took Chase an hour to reach the shore. Once on solid ground, he ran to the nearest house and called for help.
Rescuers arrived soon to search for Steven and Abigail. Miraculously, the two were found and rescued about an hour later-more than a mile away from the family's abandoned boat.

The 39 interviewees were smartphone users in the Seattle area between the ages of 14 and 64.
In general, interviewees had four common reasons for using their phones:
■During unoccupied moments, like waiting for a friend to show up.
■Before or during boring and repetitive tasks.
■When in socially awkward situations.
■When they are expecting a message.
The group also had common reasons that ended their phone use:
■Meeting competing needs from the real world, like meeting up with a friend or needing to drive somewhere.
■Realizing that they had been on their phones for half an hour.
■Coming across content they'd already seen.
The team was surprised to find that the reasons were the same across age groups. "This doesn't mean that teens use their phones the same way adults do. But I think this desire to turn back to your phone plays out the same way across all these groups. The high school students would say ‘Anytime I have a dead moment, if I have one minute between classes I pull out my phone. ' Andthe adults would say 'Anytime I have one dead moment, if I have one minute between seeing patients at work. I pull out my phone.'"

My daughter is a middle school student who still plays with her American Girl dolls. Dolls have been a huge part of her life ever since she was a baby. When she got her first doll at the age of 5, she spent hours brushing its hair and changing its clothes. Some people think my daughter should stop doing that as a teenager. But I think quite differently.
Considering the less attractive activities that are out there and what else she could be doing, I find playing with dolls seems like a nice choice. It's better than playing computer games or something alike. I've also noticed it doesn't make any difference to her social life. She has her friends and spends time with them.
Playing with dolls is helpful for my daughter. "When I play with them, "my daughter told me, "it makes me feel that I can express problems going on in my life and that I'm not the only one who has those problems. They're in their lives, too, and they have to live with them." I'm glad she finds a safe place to stay when she faces school test, changeable social groups, and a changing body in middle school.
Moreover, the girl dolls can be encouraging. Most come with an amazing back story. For instance, Luciana is interested in science and technology and wants to become an astronaut. How cool it is to set an example for kids!
So next time, when someone tries to judge my young teen for playing with her dolls, I'll remember all the ways she benefits from them. And when she grows too large for them, I hope she saves her dolls and brings them out one day in the future so that her own kids can get the benefits of playing with them, even into their teen years.
(1)、What does the author say about her daughter?A、She has a lasting interest in dolls. B、She likes collecting some special dolls. C、She has got bored with her childhood dolls as a teenager. D、She spends too much time with dolls instead of her friends.(2)、According to Paragraph 2, what does the author think her daughter's behavior means?A、Developing her social skills. B、Doing poorly in school exams. C、Missing other amazing activities. D、Avoiding some harmful activities.(3)、What did the daughter's words in Paragraph 3 suggest?A、Playing with dolls gives her a sense of responsibility. B、Playing with dolls helps reduce her stress in life. C、She has problems different from other teenagers. D、She has been worried about her school life.(4)、Who may be Luciana in Paragraph 4?A、a scientist B、a friend C、a doll D、a girl -

In 2002, Huang Hui, a researcher of the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, went diving near Xisha. In addition to getting an irremovable suntan (晒黑), she was left with memories of a beautiful experience with clear water and abundant colorful corals (珊瑚). However, much of the breathtaking scenery of this reef has disappeared due to climate change and human activities. All of these factors led to the decline of the coral reef in the near shore waters. "We started to cultivate corals near the Xisha Islands in 2010, and restored more than 200,000 square meters of coral reefs," Huang said.
In 2004, when Huang was attending the 10th International Coral Reef Symposium, she found herself the only representative from the Chinese mainland. She said she felt sad but she made up her mind to strengthen communication with other countries to improve China's level and status in coral research. She visited top coral research institutes in the US and Australia, establishing long-term cooperation with some of the world's top coral researchers. By far, Huang has worked on coral research and protection for 22 years. Now, China is in a leading position in terms of technology and coral planting scale.
Huang believes that people's consciousness of coral protection matters most to the sustainable development of the coral reefs. "I want to call on more people to love nature and look at the ocean in awe," Huang said.
Partly due to her efforts, Hainan Province released a law in 2017 banning reef exploitation (开发), trading and damaging.
Huang works as a consultant for customs and frontier police on coral protection and promotes coral protection in her local schools. Huang also provides online free training for divers to teach them proper behavior in the sea to protect coral reefs.
"A group of ‘folk scientists' have also been trained with the hope that more people can gain awareness of the significance of coral reef protection and know how to protect them," said Huang.
"I am 50, and when I become 60, I hope that not only a coral island will be built but a sustainable development pattern will also be created," said Huang. "The ideal state is that the coral island should be able to support fishermen and preserve the ecosystem," she added.

As you read, remember: gifts from the heart are the best ones you'll ever receive.
According to legend (传说), a young man while moving about the desert came across a spring of delicious clear water. The water was so sweet that he filled his leather canteen so he could bring some back to an elder who had been his teacher. After a four-day journey he gave the water to the old man who took a deep drink, smiled warmly and thanked his student for the sweet water. The young man returned to his village with a happy heart.
Later, the teacher let another student taste the water. He spat it out, saying it was very smelly. It had become no longer fresh because of the old leather container. The student asked his teacher, "Master, the water was smelly. Why did you pretend to like it?"
The teacher replied, "You only tasted the water. I tasted the gift. The water was simply the container for an act of loving-kindness and nothing could be sweeter."
I think we understand this lesson best when we receive gifts of love from young children. Whether it's a piece of paper or a ruler, the natural and proper response (反应) is appreciation and we express thankfulness because we love the idea within the gift.
Gratitude (感激) doesn't always come naturally. Unfortunately, most children and many adults value only the thing given rather than the feeling in it. We should tell ourselves and teach our children about the beauty and purity of feelings and expressions of gratitude. After all, gifts from the heart are really gifts of the heart.

D、He was moved to tears.(3)、What's the best title for the passage?A、The Importance of Gratitude. B、Gifts from Children C、Gifts from the Heart D、A leather Container -

Only one in three adolescents are practising appropriate hand hygiene(卫生), a new global study involving University of Queensland researchers has found.
Dr Yaqoot Fatima from UQ's Institute for Social Science Research said there was a renewed emphasis on adequate hand hygiene with COVID-19. "We used data from the Global School-based Student Health Survey from 92 countries across the six WHO regions to examine the prevalence (普遍)of hand hygiene practices in adolescents worldwide," Dr Fatima said, "Our results highlight that globally, adolescents practice inadequate hand hygiene. Adolescents who reported unhealthy behaviours such as being more seated, smoking, and experiencing bullying at school were more likely to practise inappropriate hand hygiene than their peers. In comparison, parental support and bonding emerged as a key factor associated with adequate hand hygiene practices in adolescents."
The researchers examined 354,422 adolescents aged 13–17 years to demonstrate the considerable cross-country variations in hand hygiene practices. Dr Fatima said that although access to soap and water was an issue, around 60 percent of adolescents were not practising appropriate hand hygiene even when they had access to water and soap. While access to handwashing facilities and knowledge of proper hygiene is important for practising adequate hand hygiene, the study showed that the knowledge-behaviour gap is a major reason for insufficient hand hygiene practices.
Bullying prevention at school, systematic combination of health and hygiene education in the school curriculum and peer-led behaviour could be strategies to reduce inappropriate hand hygiene practices in adolescents. The positive role of parental support and bonding suggests that interventions (干预) aiming to improve adolescent hand hygiene should focus on parents and seek their active involvement in designing and delivering those interventions. "With these strategies adopted properly, we are sure to raise public awareness of hand hygiene practices." Dr Fatima said.
(1)、What can be inferred from Dr Fatima's words in paragraph. 2?A、Adolescents in Queensland practice adequate hand hygiene. B、Adequate hand hygiene is reemphasized due to COVID-19. C、Adolescents practicing adequate hand hygiene are more likely to smoke. D、Parental support plays a limited role in adequate hand hygiene practices.(2)、What is the main reason for inadequate hand hygiene practices?A、Serious bullying problems at school. B、No access to handwashing equipment. C、Poor knowledge of appropriate hygiene. D、The gap between knowledge and behaviour.(3)、What is DrFatima's attitude towards the prevalence of hand hygiene practices?A、Confident. B、Indifferent. C、Worried. D、Ambiguous. -
