I woke at 4 a.m. in a black hostel room, my eight roommates all still sound asleep at the early hour. I stepped outside without being noticed, forced a cheese roll into my mouth, and headed to the Kaikoura dolphin-watching tour office.

With more adrenaline (肾上腺素) than I had experienced when jumping out of a plane, I put on my flippers (脚蹼) quickly and got ready for the adventure. The moment I dove off the water, I was shocked awake. No amount of coffee, tea, or sugar has ever given me such a strong wake-up. It turns out that the ocean is freezing at 5 a.m. before the sunrise. Don't be scared off by the temperature, though, because 5 a.m. is when the dolphins are most playful!

After a little while, I was face to face with a wild dusky dolphin! At one moment, it jumped up high into the air while the next it dove deep into the water. It made strange whale noises to draw the attention of more members of the group, including a tiny baby dolphin no bigger than a cat. What impressed me most was that the baby dolphin came close up, swam around playfully and kept looking at me with those black glassy eyes, seeming most interested in this strange fish-like creature that kept getting twisted (缠绕) in her own flippers.

The sun rose, warming my back as I continued to struggle with my flippers among the most graceful animals in the ocean. It was the most beautiful sight, as the dark blue of the ocean turned light greenish-blue, brightening our swimming companions for the early hours of the morning.

The practice of swimming with wild dolphins is banned in the North Island, where the species of Hector's dolphins are in decline. But in Kaikoura, the practice is quite common and actually helping to increase the dolphin populations.

The Double Seventh Festival

On the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, there is a traditional festival full of romance.Recently the youth have celebrated it as Valentine's Day in China.

The Mid-Autumn Festival

It is a conventional festival for both the Han and minority nationalities in China.The custom of worshipping the moon can be traced back to the ancient Xia and Shang dynasties.The Mid-Autumn Festival is also a holiday for members of a family to get together.

The Double Ninth Festival

On the ninth day of the ninth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, people celebrate the Double Ninth Festival.People usually climb mountains and eat double-ninth cakes, which means our life will become better and better.

"Surprise!" was the first thing that I heard as soon as I opened the door. My family and friends were all gathered together. There were colorful balloons all over the house and a big poster that said "Happy Birthday". And of course there was a cake with 12 candles. It was a wonderful feeling knowing that I had finally turned twelve and that I might possibly get the thing I wanted most.

paper with flowers on it. When I removed the paper and opened the box, I couldn't believe my eyes. I had really got a cell phone! I ran to give my mom and dad the biggest hug ever, and said, "Thank you! I love you!"

"You're welcome. We knew this was going to make you happy. But we give you this not only because

you have turned twelve but also because you are doing well in school. We expect you to keep getting good grades. "

"Of course I will!" I said confidently. As soon as I got to school the next morning I was showing off my phone and asking everyone for their number. It was cool how I got so many contacts (联系人) on the first day. It felt like I didn't even exist in that class any more. I didn't pay much attention to the teachers because I was too busy on my phone. I texted my friends, surfed the Internet for stories or played games.

Luckily, I didn't get caught using it. I had formed a habit of secretly enjoying my phone in class. But I was pretty sure that the teachers did notice that I stopped paying attention to them because a week later we took a test and I failed. How to Achieve a School Goal

Setting goals can help you stay on top of your studies and earn good grades, but it's important to set the right kinds of goals. Realistic(现实的） goals can help you succeed in school and in life. 

● Decide what type of goal you want to set. There are many possible goals you could set,but the type of goal refers to how you'll measure your progress and success.  Process goals focus on the work that you'll do in a given time period. Outcome(结果） goals focus on the results of your work. 

●Find out the reasons why your goal is important.  If that's the case, it may be important to remind yourself of why that goal is meaningful to you, and why you hope to achieve it. Reflecting on the outcome of that goal may help you stay more focused and driven over time. 

● Set up a reward(奖励） system to stay active. Some people work best when they know there is some

type of reward to be given. At the same time, it tracks your progress so you'll know whether or not you deserve(值得）your "treat" for the day, week, month or term. 

● Having support can make a huge difference in your chance of success. Not only will the people in your support network help you stay active, they can also celebrate with you once you've achieved your goal.

The TV Tower

Opened in 1967, the Ostankino Tower, more commonly known as the TV Tower, is a television and radio tower in Moscow. It was once the tallest freestanding(独立式的） tower in Europe. It is currently the tallest freestanding building in Europe and seventh tallest in the world and offers the best views over the whole of Moscow.
