Bethany Meilani Hamilton was born on February 8, 1990, in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. Raised in a surfing family, along with older brothers Noah and Tim, Bethany learned to surf at the age of 7. She began competitive surfing at age 8, and by age 9 she had got her first sponsorship(赞助) .

In October 2003, after having placed 3rd in the Open Women's Division earlier that year, Bethany's life changed forever. Bethany went out to surf at Tunnels Beach in Ha'ena with her best friend, Alana Blanchard, and Blanchard's father and brother. While lying on her board, Bethany suddenly felt huge pressure on her left arm and was pulled back and forth for a few seconds. Feeling no pain at first, she noticed the water around her had turned red, and her shocked friend first realized that she was attacked by a shark. Hamilton lost her left arm just below the shoulder.

As she recovered, she made two promises to herself. The first was that she would not moan(抱怨) about her terrible accident and the second was that she would get back on the surfboard. After only 26 days, she was surfing again! She is now one of the top 50 female surfers in the world. She also won first prize in the Explorer Women's Division of the NSSA National Championships.

Bethany's story has been turned into many books, including a few written by herself. She has appeared on many TV shows, magazine articles and in 2004 was named the Best Comeback Athlete and also received the Courage Teen Choice Award.

The last two books written by Bethany were based around the theme of being unstoppable. One of her books is named Be Unstoppable: The Art of Never Giving Upand has guided readers to be brave, enjoy life and never give up.

This is a heart touching Indian movie that tells the story of a boy named Ishaan Awasthi. He is an 8-year-old boy with dyslexia (阅读障碍) and this greatly influences his performance in school. Ishaan has an amazing talent for art and painting, but no one would like to know him and be his friends until a new art teacher, Ram Nikumbh, arrives. He takes special interest in Ishaan and discovers Ishaan's problem and his artistic talent.

The Social Network

It tells us the story of young Mark Zuckerberg who is an undergraduate at Harvard and also a computer genius (天才). He begins to work on an idea which grows into a globally recognized social network called Facebook. This makes Mark one of the youngest billionaires existing.

King of Boys 2

It can be a challenge to learn a new language like English.  Here are some tips to help you become a better English learners. 

Studying every day comes first. Learning any new language is a time-consuming process, more than 300 hours according to some linguists (语言学家). Rather than memorize passively for a few hours or review once or twice a week, most experts say short, regular study sessions (一段时间) are more effective. .

Keep things fresh. Instead of focusing on one single task for the entire study session, try mixing things up. Study a little grammar, then do a short listening exercise, and then perhaps read an article on the same topic. Don't do too much, and 20 minutes on three different exercises is plenty..

 Talking with English natives, watching English movies or listening to English music whenever you have a chance can also help you unconsciously do better in pronunciation, speech patterns as well as listening. 

Writing exercises are a great way to practice. Take 30 minutes at the end of the class or study to write down what happened during your day.  By making a habit of writing, you will find your writing skills improve over time.

Social media allow teenagers to create online identities, communicate with others and build social networks. These networks can provide teenagers with valuable support. Teenagers also use social media for entertainment and self-expression. And the platforms can expose teenagers to current events, allow them to communicate across geographic barriers and teach them about different kinds of subjects, including healthy behaviors. However, social media use can also negatively affect teenagers, distracting them, influencing their sleep, and exposing them to bullying (恐吓), rumor (谣言) spreading, untrue views of other people's lives and peer pressure.

There are steps you can take to encourage responsible use of social media and limit some of its negative effects.

Set reasonable limits. Talk to your teenager about how to avoid letting social media affect his or her activities, sleep, meals or homework. Encourage a bedtime routine that avoids electronic media use, and keep cellphones and iPads out of teenagers' bedrooms. Set an example by following these rules yourself.

Monitor your teenager's accounts. Let your teenager know that you'll be regularly checking his or her social media accounts. You might aim to do so once a week or more. And make sure you follow through.

Explain what's not OK. Discourage your teenager from gossiping, spreading rumors, bullying or damaging someone's reputation—online or otherwise. Talk to your teenager about what is appropriate and safe to share on social media.

Encourage face-to-face contact with friends. This is particularly important for teenagers who are vulnerable to social anxiety disorder.

Talk about social media. Talk about your own social media habits. Ask your teenager how he or she is using social media and how it makes him or her feel. Remind your teenager that social media is full of unrealistic images.
