Adela was basically brought up by her grandfather. Soon after her parents divorced, she was sent to live with her grandparents. The next year, her grandmother died, and she was left alone with her grandfather.

One of the three main (branch) of a forest fire in Yajiang county of Garze Tibetan autonomous prefecture in Sichuan province has been extinguished thanks to the vigorous efforts of some 1,200 workers, according to the Sichuan Forest Fire Brigade.

Crews continue to work (extinguish) other burning sections. Members of the brigade's branches in the city of Panzhihua, Aba Tibetan and Qiang autonomous prefecture, and in Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture in Sichuan, arrived in Yajiang and started working at the site of the (two) blaze early on Monday.

The forest fire broke out in Yajiang at around 5 pm on Friday near Baizi village  spread to a larger area, driven by a sudden increase in wind on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Emergency Management. The fire had consisted of three main sections, with control  (make) more difficult by unpredictable wind shifts that spread the blaze in multiple directions. From Sunday evening to early Monday, fire approached residences near  PetroChina gas station in Yajiang. Firefighters quickly  (lay) hose lines and used water cannons to protect the homes.

The new reported by Coltura offers one of the most detailed pictures yet of Americans' driving habits and gasoline consumption. 

The study analyzed GPS data from millions of vehicles and Census Bureau surveys. It builds on earlier reports the group has issued, including a detailed study of high-mileage drivers in California. Here are some of the findings: around 21 million Americans account for 35 percent of the nation's gasoline use from private light-duty vehicles; that's cars, pickup trucks, sport utility vehicles, vans and minivans. That's more gasoline than is burned each year in Brazil, Canada and Russai combined. These drivers are more likely to live in rural areas and small towns, drive an average of 116 miles per weekday and own vehicles that are larger and less fuel-efficient. 

" If we want electric vehicles to have the greatest impact, we need to get the highest-mileage drivers behind the wheel," said John Helveston, an assistant professor of engineering at The George Washington University. Helveston is an author of a recent study finding that electric vehicles were driven less than gasoline cars. Recently , lawmakers in California, Maryland, Vermont and Washington have proposed policies to encourage high-mileage drivers to go electric. " we are at the point where we need to start targeting our electric vehicle policies toward the people who are harder to reach" said Phil Ting.

In its latest climate action plan, the state of Maryland proposed an electric vehicle rebate worth up to $5,000 for people who drive long distance. The program, which is not finalized, would require applicants to trade in their older cars and show that they previously had used at least 800 gallons of gasoline per year. Burlington Electric Department, a Vermont utility, will soon test an incentive worth up to $500 aimed at helping high-mileage drivers go electric. It the program works, it could be expanded.

Previously, there have been AI models that can turn text into images. They can do this by learning from a large amount of data from both tests and images. This time, researchers from Osaka University in Japan have trained an AI system called Stable Diffusion to re-create images based on people's brain scans, reported Science magazine. 

The researchers used an online data set provided by the University of Minnesota, US, which consisted of brain scans from four participant as they each viewed a set of 1,000 photos. The scans were recorded by functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI). The AI then learned about the brain activities by analyzing changes in blood flow shown by the fMRI data: when a part of the brain is activated, more blood will flow to it. It then matched the brain activities with the photos. Finally, the researchers tested the AI on additional brain scans from the same participants when they viewed photos of a toy bear, airplane, clock and train. If the person looked at an airplane, for example, the AI would use the brain scan data to create an image of a very blurry airplane. Then , it would turn on the previous "text-to-image" model and improve the quality of the image by feeding itself the keyword "airplane". The final images were "convincing" with about 80 percent of accuracy, according to the researchers. 

The new study created a novel approach that incorporates texts and images to "decipher the brain", Ariel Goldstein from Princeton University, US, told Science magazine. In the future, scientists hope that the technology can be used to record imagined thought and dreams or allow people to understand how differently other animals perceive reality.
