Fans will be seeing purple at the Olympics when athletes try to set records at this summer's Paris Games.  In a move away from a more  (tradition) red-brick clay color, an Olympic track is going purple for the first time. 

The color of the lanes  (stand) out from the grey of the spectator (观众) seating.  This purple color, never  (see) before for an athletics track, has been  result of a long process but it doesn't have to be just beautiful. 

"We had to work hard on the colors so that they came out in the best possible tones  (highlight) the athletes.  It's a track and it has to be pretty, but above all, it's a stage  which the athletes are going to perform.   is really important is that the colors and the athletes stand out," said Blondel. 

Different colors can trigger different emotions and feelings.  For example, red makes people feel excited and energetic; blue helps reduce stress and anxiety  purple has some of the characteristics of both red and blue,  can motivate athletes to perform at their best and help them produce good results.

Summer Clayton may not have children in real life, but he's "a proud dad" to 2. 8 million people on the Internet.

Wear sunglasses.  Sunglasses can make you look pretty cool.   Find sunglasses that are stylish and comfortable and keep them close by at all time during summer.

A significant proportion of the American populace within the working-age demographic are encountering challenges in meeting the financial demands associated with health care, as per a recent comprehensive evaluation. 

This study, which is the inaugural edition of the Health Care Affordability Survey conducted by the Commonwealth Fund, reveals that a substantial 51 percent of adults falling within the age bracket of 19 to 64 years have expressed that affording health care for themselves and their family is either exceedingly challenging or moderately difficult.  This observation encompasses 43 percent of individuals who are beneficiaries of health insurance provided by their employers and an even higher 57 percent who have secured health insurance through a marketplace or have opted for an individual plan. 

Additionally, it is noteworthy that nearly one-half of the working-age adults who are under the Medicare program and 45 percent of those who are recipients of Medicaid also admit to facing hardships in covering their health care expenses. ____It is particularly striking that a majority, specifically 65 percent, of working-age adults have indicated that the escalation in the cost of various goods and services over the past year has had a detrimental impact on their capacity or that of their family to manage health care expenses. 

The aforementioned survey, which is based on a sample that is representative of the nation and comprises nearly 7,900 individuals who are 19 years of age or older, was carried out from the mid-point of April through the month of July in the current year.  This survey follows on the heels of another analysis conducted by the research entity known as KFF, which demonstrated an upward trend in the costs associated with health insurance for employer-sponsored plans as well as an increase in the contributions made by workers towards these plans in the year 2023. 

The newly disseminated analysis has further unearthed that 38 percent of the individuals who participated in the survey identified cost as the primary factor that led them or a family member to either forgo or postpone the receipt of necessary health care services or the procurement of prescribed medication within the last 12 months.  This includes 29 percent of those who are under the protection of employer-based coverage, 37 percent who are insured through individual and marketplace health plans, 42 percent who are covered by Medicare, and 39 percent who are recipients of Medicaid. 

Furthermore, it is observed that more than six-tenths of the individuals who are devoid of any form of health insurance have reported that they or a family member have had to delay or forgo medical care due to financial constraints.  Among all those who have reported such instances of skipping or delaying care, a considerable 57 percent have stated that a health issue has consequently deteriorated. 

Electronic waste, or e-waste, has reached levels that cannot be continued.  More efforts are needed to take precious metals from abandoned laptops and smartphones.  Research shows that over 57 million tons of e-waste was created worldwide in 2021 and people are frustrated about the lack of options to recycle their tech. 

Building a low-carbon economy will depend on battery technology for electric vehicles and energy storage.  Taking the elements from used batteries will be an environmental necessity.  Lithium-ion (锂离子) batteries also contain cobalt (钴) and copper (铜), but as mining for these metals creates poisonous pollution that can ruin the environment, so too can battery recycling if not done properly.  It's a problem that needs to be solved quickly. 

Another strong pressure in mining e-waste for recycled materials is that supplies could stop entirely.  Up to 30 different elements are used in smartphones, and six of them are predicted to run out in the next century. 

"Developing a circular economy where minerals used in tech devices are saved and repurposed could help us to bypass supply chain issues in the future while also helping to reduce environmental impacts," said RSC president Tom Welton.  "It is essential that governments and businesses urgently do more to deal with the world's growing e-waste crisis and ease the worry on supply chains. "

The US generates more than six million tons of e-waste each year and recycles only15 per cent.  So there is a huge need to increase and regulate recycling instead of shipping waste abroad, where it is taken apart or made into pieces, releasing poison that can expose workers, including children, to diseases like cancer.  Vast quantities are simply burned or buried in landfill to pollute the air, soil and water. 

Electronic equipment is forecast to generate nearly 75 million metric tons of e-waste annually by 2030—almost double what was created in 2014.  Less than 20per cent of global e-waste is currently recycled and that needs to change. 

In 1984, while living on the Mendocino coast of California, Taylor Lockwood developed a fascination with mushrooms.  "Outside my cottage were these amazing mushrooms," he says.  "And it was as if these mushrooms looked at me and said, ‘Taylor, go out and tell the world how pretty we are. '" Lockwood answered their call and purchased camera equipment to capture their true nature.  His passion for photographing mushrooms was so intense that he would even dig holes next to the mushrooms to get the perfect angle for his shots. 

In the Monongahela National Forest, Taylor Lockwood discovered an unusual mushroom that looked like tiny fingers wearing off-white gloves.  Upon deeper investigation, fungi researcher Amy Rossman confirmed that it was a "hazel glove" mushroom, which is a rare find.  "Mushrooms are not like plants," Rossman says.  "They don't come up at the same time every year, and so sometimes it can be decades between when a fungus fruits. " Rossman says that's why it's so valuable to have people like Taylor Lockwood searching through the forest with a trained eye. 

A few years ago, Taylor Lockwood realized that still photos weren't sufficient, so he chose to create time-lapse (延时拍摄的) videos of mushrooms.  "When I do time-lapse, I see so much life happening around the mushrooms—insects, worms and other small creatures interacting with them," he says.  Lockwood's love for art is evident in his approach to filming mushrooms over time.  Although he appreciates the scientific aspect of his work, he identifies himself as an artist at heart.

Kris and Robin are sisters who grew up in Wisconsin. They work together and serve together.

In 2017, Hurricane Harvey struck with strong force across Florence, bringing fierce winds and record-breaking rainfall. The city was destroyed by the storm's intensity, leading to widespread damage and flooding. Emergency services worked tirelessly to rescue those trapped by the rising floodwaters, while power failure left entire neighborhoods in darkness.

In the face of such misfortune, both of Kris and Robin felt depressed and helpless, yet eager to assist. Upon discovering Convoy of Hope's volunteer program, they didn't hesitate to sign up. Soon after, they were invited to training, marking the start of their mission to serve together in this fighting.

However, their initial response to the arrangement was filled with anxiety for Kris. "I am kind of nervous before heading out. I wonder if I could remember my training?" said Kris Logemann, her voice with uncertainty. "Don't worry! You see the staff do such a great job. They are incredibly supportive to us and will provide guidance and reassure every step of the way." Robin comforted. She also added, "I am right there for you, too, Kris, we are in it together, and we'll make it just like before."

Robin Melcher remembered the first few rescues she and her sister went on. "We were helping a woman who had just lost her husband," said Kris. "We were taking things out of her house, but also holding her hand and loving her. The ability to do that... it's just really cool." "Obviously we love it because we come back," added Kris.

Full of power, Kris and Robin put their whole hearts into the training. During the Convoy of Hope's detailed training program, they learned about disaster response, safety procedures, and psychological first aid. Through hands-on practice and team-building exercise, they prepared physically and mentally for the tasks ahead. As Kris and Robin continued their volunteer work, they were faced with one of their most heart-struck and unforgettable challenges.
