As Alexandria Country Day School's sixth-graders created small 3D-printed villages to deal with homelessness, they learned lessons beyond technology(科技).

The project which was inspired by life-size 3D-printed homes built by a Texas-based technology company, aimed to make housing accessible for everyone. Using inexpensive materials the students built strong homes in just a few days.

11-year-old Salwa Seman and Zoe Mandel, found creating settings challenging but worthwhile. "If the temperature of the printer is too hot or cold, or if the printed walls are tooth in, the constructions might fail," said Salwa Seman. "You learn from your mistakes and make adaptations," said Zoe Mandel.

The tech-focused project quickly developed into "an exercise in understanding, creation, and partnership to bring about lasting change," said science teacher Alison McDonald. "When most people think of helping the homeless, they think of food and clothing," said Juliet Galicia, 11. While necessary, those are solutions only for the moment. Even housing alone is not a full answer.

"We wanted to include other things that would make it feel more like a real community," said Luke Wazorko, 11. A community garden, a place to raise chickens, a stadium for shared events, bus stops for access to jobs, and service for Wi-Fi and cellphones to help with job searches were important features offered to formerly unhoused residents. 

"They get it!" said Amber Fogarty, president of a nonprofit organization helping homelessness in Austin. "The biggest reason for long-term homelessness is a serious lack in family relationships," she said. "Housing alone will never solve homelessness, but community will People need a place where they are known, cared and loved."

Like all mammals(哺乳动物), elephant communicate a great deal through body language. Love is often expressed by crossing or "hugging" their long noses, usually between close relatives and friends who have travelled in the same herd for a long time. And much physical communication takes place with the ends of elephants' noses—they use these to comfort and reassure each other, to greet friends, and to recognize the efforts of a hard-working mother or the birth of new calves.

When a member of the herd is close to death, the whole herd will stop moving and stay resting in one small area for a time. Once the elderly or sick elephant passes away, they will stay on for a few more days—gathering around the dead body, and seeming to make aloud high sad sound for their companion that has passed away、

Lyu Yating, a young artisan(工匠) from Jingdezhen, is making great efforts to create Ling long porcelain(瓷器), a unique type of porcelain from Jingdezhen, often referred to as the "city of porcelain" in East China's Jiangxi province.

Born in a family in Jingdezhen deeply rooted in the porcelain field, Lyu spent her childhood playing with clay(黏土) everyday. While studying international business in the UK, Lyu found that many foreign museums showed Chinese porcelain. "Seeing those pieces made me really want to preserve this tradition. It's a significant part of Chinese culture, reflecting the wisdom of several generations of Chinese," she said.

However, Ling long porcelain is too difficult to make, so it is hardly seen in the market; even museums display very few examples of it. Due to the difficult y with its production process, only a limited number of Ling long porcelain pieces have survived overtime

When graduating in 2014 at the age of 21, Lyu made the unusual choice to give up further education and profitable offers from foreign companies. Instead, s here fumed to her roots, learning the art of Ling long porcelain from other artisans for more than a decade. This hands-on experience allowed her to develop a deep understanding of the professional practices.

Lyu also observed arising fascination among young individuals with traditional decorative arts overtime. "I believe it's important for oultural heritage to reach every household. My intention is to change porcelain into daily things, making it possible for more people to enjoy the beauty of this cultural heritage at an affordable price," she said.

Beyond combining cultural het age with the daily lives of young people, Lyu has even greater goals. "I aim to create something absolutely new for international audiences, drawing global attention to Jingdezhen's Ling long porcelain and stressing its richness and diversity. I'm confident I can achieve this," she said.

Several days before the Prom, I was walking on the street while listening to a song. The volume was so high that I did not realize a car was behind me, honking（按喇叭） to warn me that it was in a very fast speed.
