3、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
注意:
1. 续写的词数应为150左右。
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I still remember that day in high school clearly. It was a math class, and Mr. Smith, our strict yet dedicated teacher, was writing complex equations (方程式) on the blackboard. The problem he presented was extremely challenging.
Most of my classmates were already scratching their heads, trying to work the puzzle out. I, the best student of our class, was concentrating hard, my pen moving swiftly across my notebook as I attempted to work through the problem. Suddenly, I noticed Grace, my deskmate, looking extremely frustrated. She was frowning deeply, her eyes darting back and forth between the blackboard and her paper, clearly struggling to understand.
I felt a pang of sympathy for her. We had been friends since the first year of high school, and I knew how important it was for her to keep up with the math classes as she was aiming for a top score in the upcoming exam. Without hesitation, I leaned over and whispered, "Hey, Grace. Are you okay? This problem is quite tricky, but I think I might have some ideas."
Grace looked up at me, her face showing a glimmer of hope. "I really don't get it. I've tried every method I can think of, but I just can't seem to figure it out," she said disappointedly.
"Let's take a look together," I said with a firm smile starting to explain the steps slowly and carefully. I used different colors to highlight the key points, hoping it would make it easier for her to understand. We went through each part of the problem, discussing possible solutions.
As we worked, I could see the confusion gradually fading from Grace's face. Her eyes lit up when she finally grasped the concept, and she exclaimed, "Oh, I get it now! Thank you so much!" Her gratitude filled my heart with a sense of satisfaction.
Paragraph 1:
However, just as we were about to finish, Mr. Smith suddenly called out "Grace".

5、阅读下面短文, 在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
Wildlife came into existence billions of years ago, used to live in harmony with other animals, insects and plants. However, at present, what we are concerned about is that animals are dying out at an (alarm) rate, 75 species every day on average. This is human beings don't observe animal protection laws. Animals are being hunted, (shoot) and attacked illegally so that people can obtain (they) skin, fur or other organs. Furthermore, not only do human activities lead to the (reduce) of animal habitats but also they cause the rise of global temperature, which threatens the survival of some animals, especially those species living in the polar regions. They make a living by (hunt) or fishing. So the ocean creatures are in danger due to the rapid melting of ice and they have difficulty adapting the alarming changes.
We must be aware that the extinction of masses of animals does great harm to us. Only if the authorities take effective (measure) immediately can we make progress in wildlife protection. Now, more natural reserves (build) to preserve endangered animals from extinction.

7、‘According to the results of Harvard University's latest international survey, the Chinese public's satisfaction with the CPC exceeds 90 per cent.' On 12 July, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying tweeted a strongrebuttal to U. S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's slanderous remarks about the CPC, citing a new Harvard University survey report as strong evidence.
The report is Understanding CCP Resilience: A Long-Term Survey of Public Opinion in China, released in July 2020 by the Ashe Center for Democratic Governance (民主治理) and Innovation at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.
The 18-page report was authored by three Kennedy School experts who wrote the survey after conducting eight surveys in China between 2003 and 2016, with face-to-face conversations with more than 31,000 urban and rural Chinese residents to track Chinese citizens' satisfaction with Chinese government at all levels over time. The report concludes that Chinese people's satisfaction with the government has risen almost across the board since 2003, especially among those in inland and impoverished areas.
The survey report shows that from 2003 to 2016, the Chinese people's satisfaction with the government at the central, provincial (municipality directly under the central government), city, county and township levels has increased. in 2016, the Chinese people's satisfaction with the central government was as high as 93.1 per cent, and the people's satisfaction with the other three levels of government exceeded 70 per cent, while the satisfaction with the government at the provincial (municipality directly under the central government), city, county and township levels was 81.7 percent, respectively, 73.9% and 70.2% respectively. Overall, the higher the level of government, the higher the level of public satisfaction. In addition, in terms of the increase in satisfaction, the township government has seen the most significant increase in public satisfaction, from 43.6% in 2003 to 70.2%.
Concluding the report, the researchers note that by 2016, the Chinese government was more popular than at any time in the past 20 years. On average, the Chinese government provides much better and fairer healthcare, social welfare and other basic public services than it did when the survey began in 2003. Moreover, when it comes to corruption, the decline in satisfaction from 2009 to 2011 has been completely reversed. The public seems to be generally in favour of the anti-corruption campaign. On the environment, even though many residents expressed dissatisfaction, most respondents expect the situation to improve in the coming years.
As Hua Chunying said at the foreign ministry's regular press conference, "The report concludes that the CPC's ruling foundation is solid, and its resilience stems from the broad support of the public. According to this survey report, the Chinese people's satisfaction rate with the Chinese government is higher than at any time in the past few decades, and they generally believe that the Chinese government's ability and efficiency (效率) in governing is greater than at any time in the past, and in fact the Chinese people's satisfaction rate with the central government is over 93 per cent. I think that such a high approval rating (支持率) is probably something that those politicians in the United States are incredibly envious of but can't reach. This in itself is actually the best and most powerful response to the vicious attacks on the Chinese Communist Party by individual politicians such as Pompeo."

8、Cultural heritage is a treasure that connects us to our past, but preserving it is not always easy. Many historical buildings, and artworks are at risk of damage because of natural disasters, pollution, or simply the passage of time. Fortunately, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now playing a key role in protecting and restoring these precious pieces of history.
One way AI helps is through digital restoration. For example, ancient paintings or sculptures that have been damaged over time can be scanned and analyzed by AI algorithms (算法). These algorithms can then recreate missing parts or colors, allowing experts to see what the artwork might have looked like centuries ago. In 2021, AI was used to restore a famous painting by Rembrandt, bringing its original beauty back to life.
AI is also used to monitor the condition of cultural sites. Sensors and cameras can be placed in museums or historical buildings to collect data on temperature, humidity (湿度), and light levels. AI systems analyze this data to detect any changes that could harm the artwork. If a problem is found, experts can take action before it's too late.
Another exciting application of AI is in virtual reconstruction. Some historical sites have been destroyed by wars or natural disasters, but with AI, we can recreate them in virtual reality (VR). For example, AI has been used to rebuild the ancient city of Palmyra in Syria, which was severely damaged during the conflict. People can now explore this lost city through VR, learning about its history and culture.
However, there are challenges to using AI in cultural preservation. One concern is the cost of developing and maintaining these technologies. Another is the need for skilled professionals who can work with both AI and cultural heritage. Despite these challenges, it is believed that AI will continue to be a powerful tool in protecting our shared history for future generations.
(1)、Why are many historical artworks in danger of damage?A、Because of the lack of AI technology. B、Owing to the incorrect use of restoration methods. C、Due to natural disasters, pollution or the passage of time. D、Because there are not enough museums to display them.(2)、According to paragraph 3, which of the following statements is true?A、Only cameras are used to collect data. B、AI systems can directly fix the problems found. C、The data collected is mainly about the appearance of artworks. D、AI systems collects and analyzes data to detect potential risks.(3)、What is the author's attitude towards the future of AI in cultural heritage preservation?A、Doubtful. B、Cautious. C、Optimistic. D、Unconcerned.(4)、What is the main purpose of the passage?A、To explain how AI is used in modern art creation. B、To describe how AI is helping to protect and restore cultural heritage. C、To discuss the challenges of preserving cultural heritage without technology. D、To argue that AI is more important than human experts in cultural preservation. -
9、When living or travelling internationally, we notice the differences between cultures before seeing the similarities. At first, some differences are easy to spot. Over time, however, there are some curious similarities between how people in the UK and China communicate. Indeed, international residents in both countries often complain about having to read what local people really mean, because it often differs from what is said.
In the UK, outsiders often get confused when they realise that a person making rude comments was actually showing love. In situations like this, context is everything. Likewise, in China, outsiders must infer most meaning from context and from what is not said, rather than from what is. Otherwise, misunderstandings happen.
The UK and China contexts share further cultural features, which greatly influence how people communicate, including the cultural trait (特点) of non-conflict. The British will do everything to avoid conflict. They will probably tell the waiter it was lovely even when served with poor quality food. This cultural trait can cause major misunderstandings. For example, a British business partner who is deeply unhappy with your proposal will probably say "there are just a couple of small concerns," rather than telling you that the entire proposal is unsatisfactory.
Chinese communication shows a very similar conflict prevention. Often challenges, errors, mistakes, or problems remain completely taboos (禁忌) as topics of discussion, even though everyone knows of their existence. Instead, people talk about working towards further goals or objectives, rather than directly admit that the current situation is far from satisfactory. Likewise, Chinese people like to keep a sense of harmony within all environments, and so avoid open criticism of each other. This is very similar to the way that a British person might tell you a colleague "is very confident" rather than that they are rude. In this sense, the British and Chinese can appreciate each other for harmony.
(1)、What does the author suggest in Paragraph 2?A、Polite comments are encouraged. B、Learning what is not said is difficult. C、Context is important in communication. D、Misunderstandings often happen among outsiders.(2)、What will the British and the Chinese probably both agree with?A、Talking over taboos in discussions. B、Preventing misunderstandings in work. C、Avoiding discussing one's mistakes in public. D、Making use of cultural traits in communication.(3)、How does the author develop this passage?A、By using figures. B、By making comparison. C、By listing reasons. D、By making classifications.(4)、Which of the following is the most suitable title for the passage?A、Cultural Differences Between the UK and China B、Avoiding Conflict: British Communication Styles C、The Importance of Context in Chinese Communication D、Shared Cultural Characters in Communication: UK and China -

Body language is important in our interactions with other people. It gives us information about their feelings.
Just like spoken language, body language (vary) from culture to culture. It is crucial that we use body language in a way is appropriate to the culture we are in. For example, making eye contact is a way to display interest in some countries. In other countries, by contrast, eye contact is not always approved.
The gesture for "OK" has different meanings in different countries. In Japan, someone who witnesses another person (employ) the gesture might think it means money. In France, the same gesture means zero. Even the gesture (use) for "yes" and "no" by us differ around the world. In many countries, shaking one's head means "no", and nodding means "yes". By (compare), in Bulgaria and (south) Albania, the gestures have the opposite meaning.
Some gestures seem to have the same meaning everywhere. good way of saying "I'm full" is moving your hand in (circle) around your stomach after a meal. Some body language has many different uses. Perhaps the (good) example is smiling, which can help us greatly in many ways.

That morning, I started to get him into his carrier to take him to the vet. As with most cats, this task usually took a lot of time and effort to3. To my surprise, Boom didn't4 much resistance (抵抗). Initially, I linked this5 directly to the severity of the flea-caused suffering. Looking back, I'd like to believe it all part of a bigger6.
Upon arrival at the vet, the vet immediately examined him and7 that he was allergic (过敏的) to the saliva (唾液) of flea bites. I was given some medicine and all seemed right.
Suddenly, my phone8 urgently (急切地) with an incoming call, and to my shock, it was the police on the line,9 me of a fire at my house. I hurried home only to see some furniture10 across the room by the force of an explosion (爆炸). A firefighter explained what he believed had happened, including the11 of the event. It turned out the fire started in old wires. He was convinced that if I had been at home, I'd have had little chance of12.
His words13 a surge of feelings within me. According to the timeline the firefighter told me, the fire started14 after Boom and I went to the vet together. 13、Living with other people can be tough, especially when each person comes from a different background and has their own ideas about how they want to live. Though having a roommate can be challenging at times, it can also be enjoyable and fun.
You can discuss your expectations ahead of time. Get together before or on the first day you move in together and talk about what each of you needs and wants from the other. This applies to finances, food, clothes, possessions, use of common areas and so on.
You should agree to respect each other's privacy. This is especially significant. For instance, you may not mind if your roommate comes into your room unannounced, but they might find you to be very rude for doing so. You should talk about these kinds of things so that you know what to expect from each other.
Say hello and goodbye, ask them how their day was, and show interest in their life. Getting to know the person you live with helps you understand their perspective, and allows them to understand yours. It also makes it easier to deal with problems that you have with that person if you've already developed a harmonious relationship with them.
You can also be considerate of your roommate in your life. Understand what's going on in your roommate's life. You should aim to be flexible and accommodating. Your roommate may have a big test coming up. If your roommate is busy and stressed with their job, give them some time and space to relax and unwind.
A. You can spend time with your roommate.
B. You can discuss each of your preferences for privacy.
C. This is your best chance to set boundaries with your roommate.
D. Make sure that everyone is clear on the rules and responsibilities.
E. This is what you should know to respect your roommate's privacy.
F. Then in this case you should probably be quiet and let them study.
G. The following steps will help you live in harmony with your roommate.

14、Laughter comes in many forms, from a polite chuckle to an infectious howl of amusement. Scientists are now developing an AI system that can copy various forms of laughter accurately. The team behind the laughing robot, Erica, say that the system could improve natural conversations between people and AI systems.
Dr. Koji Inoue, lead author of the research from Kyoto University, highlights empathy (共情) as a crucial aspect of conversational AI, suggesting laughter sharing as a means for robots to connect with users. To achieve this, Inoue and his team gathered data from over 80 speed-dating dialogues between male students and Erica, initially operated by amateur actors.
Dialogue data labeled for individual, social, and joyful laughter was used to train an AI system to identify and produce fitting laughter responses. Based on the audio files, the algorithm (算法) learned their subtle differences, aiming to imitate social laughs subtly and hearty laughs empathetically.
"Our biggest challenge in this work was identifying the actual cases of shared laughter," explained Inoue, emphasizing the need for careful categorization. Erica's "sense of humor" was tested with four dialogues, integrating the new shared-laughter algorithm. These were compared to cases where Erica didn't laugh or emitted social laughs upon detecting laughter.
The clips were played to 130 volunteers who rated the shared-laughter algorithm highly for empathy and naturalness. The team believed laughter could imbue robots with unique character traits, including conversational behaviors like laughter, eye gaze, gestures, and speaking style. However, Inoue acknowledged it could take over 20 years to have a "casual chat with a robot like we would with a friend."
Professor Sandra Wachter, of the Oxford Internet Institute at the University of Oxford, said, "One of the things I'd keep in mind is that a robot or algorithm will never be able to understand you. It doesn't understand the meaning of laughter. They fail to feel, but they might get very good at making you believe they understand what's going on."
(1)、Why do scientists develop the AI system that can copy various forms of laughter?A、To make robots sound more human-like. B、To help robots understand human emotions better. C、To enable robots to have a sense of humor like humans. D、To enhance the emotional interaction between people and AI systems.(2)、What was the challenge Inoue faced while working on this project?A、Creating an algorithm that can genuinely feel amusement. B、Identifying the situations where laughter is truly understood. C、Distinguishing between different types of laughter accurately. D、Collecting sufficient data for training the machine learning system.(3)、What does the underlined word "imbue" mean in Paragraph 5?A、Equip. B、Inspire. C、Engage. D、Influence.(4)、What is Professor Sandra Wachter's view on laughing robots?A、They are not capable of capturing human laughter. B、They can imitate laughter but lack thorough comprehension. C、It is possible for them to play tricks on humans occasionally. D、It will take long before humans have comfortable conversations with them. -
15、Most of us take the task of buying a cup of coffee for granted, as it seems simple enough. However, we have no idea just how stressful tasks like this can be for people who suffer from disabilities. That's why it's so heart-warming to see a story like this in which a barista (咖啡师) does something small to make life a little easier for someone who is deaf.
Ibby Piracha lost his hearing when he was only two years old, and he now goes to his local cafe in Leesburg, Virginia to order a cup of coffee at least three times a week. Though all the baristas who work there have his order memorized, Ibby always write his order on his phone and shows it to the barista.
One day, however, one of the baristas did something that changed everything! After Ibby ordered his coffee, he was amazed when barista Krystal pane handed him a note in response. "I've been learning sign language just so you can have the same experience as everyone else," the note read. Krystal then asked Ibby in sign language what he would like to order.
Ibby was touched that she would learn sign language just to help him feel welcome. "I was just so moved that she actually wanted to learn sign language. It is really a totally different language and it was something that she wanted to do because of me. Because I was a deaf customer. I was very, very impressed," Ibby said.
Krystal had spent hours watching teaching videos so that she could learn enough sign language to give Ibby the best customer service that she could! "My job is to make sure people have the experience they expect and that's what I gave him," Krystal says.
Ibby posted a photo of Krystal's note online, and it quickly went viral, getting hundreds of likes and comments that praised Krystal for her kind action.
(1)、What can we learn about Ibby Piracha from paragraph 2?A、He was born deaf. B、He lives a hard life. C、He loves to order take-out food. D、He visits the cafe regularly.(2)、Why did Krystal learn sign language?A、To serve Ibby better. B、To attract more customers. C、To give Ibby a big surprise. D、To make herself more popular.(3)、Which of the following can best describe Krystal?A、Kind and considerate. B、Honest and responsible. C、Sociable and humorous. D、Ambitious and sensitive.(4)、What message does the author want to convey in the text?A、Two heads are better than one. B、A small act makes a difference. C、One good turn deserves another. D、Actions speak louder than words. -
16、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写一段,使之构成一篇完成的短文。
One Saturday morning, I went to the local public library to borrow some books. After cycling there, I was amazed to notice a new children's book that I had expected for a long time. The book was from abroad and was beautifully designed.
Eager to go through it, I quickly took the book out of the shelf and hurried to a chair nearby. Once seated, I opened the book and turned pages. Suddenly, a terrible thing happened. Because of my finger's too much force, one page was torn (撕破) by accident, which produced a clear sound. It made me immediately shocked and anxious. "If the librarians find I have made the book damaged, they may ask me to buy a new one, which can be expensive. And they may angrily blame me for my carelessness," I thought.
Soon, my face turned pale and my heart pounded like a drum. Just then, I noticed a librarian was walking in my direction. "Is she coming for me?" I wondered, with my legs shaking with fear. Afraid she'd notice the broken page, I hurried to close the book.
However, the librarian walked past me without stopping. When she was out of my sight, I quickly stood up and put the book back. I had no intention of reading other books, so I left the library in a hurry, without borrowing any book.
Once reaching home, I breathed a sigh of relief. However, my mother found there was something wrong and asked what had happened. Lowering my head, I confessed what I had done. Unexpectedly, my mother talked some sense into me instead of angrily blaming me. I felt deep regret about my behavior.
