My name is Bronson Layton. I am 23 years old, I am a college student, and I have a story that I feel should be shared with the world.

I come from a family that had never had a single record of ancestry with autism (自闭症), until the day I was born. When I was two years old, my parents were still getting used to the lifestyle of raising a normal kid, but what they had noticed was what they considered "out of the ordinary" behavior. Whatever toys I played with, I placed them in a straight line. When I was not satisfied, I got angry easily.

Soon after my parents noticed these signs, they took me to a child expert, who eventually informed them that I was diagnosed (诊断) with a type of autism, a disorder that delays the nervous growth of a child's brain.

My diagnosis was in 1999, a time when autism was still not commonly understood and was still being observed. At first, my parents were shocked at the news from an expert that I was going to grow up blind, but they (and I) were not prepared for how the following events would completely change our lives forever.

As I got older, I began to change from keeping myself alone to getting with other kids once I entered public school in first grade. I noticed how the other kids were able to answer questions in class a lot faster than I could understand. Because of my slow thinking, it took me two minutes to come up with an answer. From that year on, I received special accommodations for my studies, such as sitting in front of the class to read the blackboard better, and taking longer time on tests.

I've had my fair share of travelling around China, and a recent week-long trip to Guizhou was my first time to the province. It was true learning experience.

I tried looking up the meaning of the name Guizhou in the dictionary advance, basically to have a reasonable idea of what was waiting for me. But was a hard task, so I inquired from a Chinese colleague among a group of local and foreign (reporter) on the trip. From what she said, the province (name) after a famous mountain called "Gui" and "zhou", which simply means province in Chinese.

Our trip began in Zunyi city, enjoys great popularity among Chinese for the famous ‘Zunyi Conference'. Yet not much is known about this famous conference in Africa and the western world even today, but (obvious) at this place China's first leader and Chairman was elected.

The following journey was mind-blowing as I went on to explore Anshun, a place that never fails (attract) every visitor with its largest waterfall in Asia. I (dream) of this place for a long time and am more than thrilled to witness the breathtaking views, which leave first-time visitors like me (impress) .

I used to be in a nursing school. During the third month, we had an important2 . I studied very hard for it, because I3 what it meant to me. I finished all the questions easily until I read the last one, "What is the4 of the woman who clean our classroom?"

Manage your time wisely

. At the same time, time-management skills are highly valued by teachers. Because they can help ensure that you prepare well for tests and exams.

Every teacher designs tests and exams differently. If your teacher hasn't specified(详细说明) how he or she arranges tests and exams and which materials will be covered, you'll need to ask your teacher outside of class. In this way you can fully prepare for the test well.

Get help if your grades fall behind

Whether you miss an important class, have trouble with certain concepts, or are dealing with a stressful family emergency, there's a chance that your grades might fall at some point.. Remember that you don't have to feel dissatisfied with grades, if you're actively absorbed in your studies.

Take responsibility for your words and actions

If you fail to finish your homework, turn in a paper on time, or show up to your task on time, it's no one's fault but your own. You shouldn't excuse for your fault.. In part because taking your responsibility can help you stay focused and decide what to do in the future.

Previous research shows that people who are more impulsive may be less healthy than less impulsive people, Coffino told Live Science. In a grocery store, that impulsiveness could lead to a shopping cart (购物车) filled with food with little nutritional value.

The new study looked at 60 college students who filled out questionnaires (调查问卷) that assessed their levels of impulsiveness as well as how they respond to the presence of food. The students were then told they had $48.50 for grocery shopping, and were asked to fill an online shopping cart with "nutritious, affordable and tasty" foods. When Coffino calculated the nutritional value of all the foods in each person's online shopping cart, she found that there was no link between the foods a person chose and how impulsive the person was. "It didn't matter how impulsive a person was," Coffino said. "The nutritional outcomes didn't vary."

The new University at Albany study dismisses previous suggestions by Britain's top doctor that buying groceries online is bad for our health. Last June Professor Dame Sally Davies, the Chief Medical Officer, urged people to keep making trips to the supermarket to boost health. She cited a lack of exercise as a pressing health problem, with many adults failing to meet recommended daily guidelines for staying active.

Often, when people buy groceries online, they need to search for each item they want, as opposed to strolling (闲逛) through a store and saying, for example, "Oh, those cakes look good." Online, more planning and thought is needed. In addition, online grocery shopping makes people more aware of how much money they're spending, which could prevent them from adding impulsive picks to their carts, Coffino said.

I had a part-time job as a waiter in a Chinese restaurant. One time, when I was serving food to a middle-aged couple, the wife asked me how the food could be served so quickly. I told her that I had made sure they got their food quickly because I always respect the elderly. As soon as I said that, her face showed great displeasure. My manager, who happened to hear what I said, took me aside and gave me a long lecture about how sensitive (敏感) Americans are and how they dislike the description "old". I then walked back to the table and apologized to the wife. After the couple heard my reason, they understood that the problem was caused by cultural differences, so they laughed and were no longer angry. In my village in China, people are proud of being old. Not so many people live to be seventy or eighty, and people who reach such an age have the most knowledge and experience. Young people always respect older people because they know they can learn from their rich experience.

However, in the United States, people think "growing old" is a problem since "old" shows that a person is going to retire or that the body is not working well. Here many people try to keep themselves away from growing old by doing exercises or jogging, and women put on makeup, hoping to look young. When I told the couple in the restaurant that I respect the elderly, they got angry because this caused them to feel they had failed to stay young. I had told them something they didn't want to hear.

After that, I changed the way I had been with older people. It is not that I don't respect them any more; I still respect them, but now I don't show my feelings through words.

China has achieved great success in afforestation (造林) and created one of the (large) planted forests across the world, with its forest coverage rate rising from 12 percent to 24. 02 percent.

A 2019 finding (publish) in Nature Sustainability showed that at least 25 percent of the foliage expansion (树叶扩张) (global) came from China. Thick forests have also become a key source of earnings for locals. In 2022, output value of China's forestry and grassland industry reached 8,370 billion yuan.

Over the past few decades, China has encouraged its afforestation efforts with improvements in laws. (protect) the country's forests can promote green and low-carbon development, thus providing benefits for the world. In 2019, the country's law on forest protection (revise) and went into effect in 2020.

Besides, 52 percent of the younger respondents to the survey, on which the report is based, said they prefer getting treatment for their hair problems in professional healthcare institutes, compared with less than 40 percent of people in their 40s or 50s. Beyond basic requirements such as improving their hair coverage, 25.7 percent of the respondents born in the 2000s said they are also interested in "hair aesthetics" apart from seeking hair treatment. The corresponding figures for those born in the 1990s, 1980s and 1970s are about 19 percent, 17 percent and 11 percent, respectively.

The survey gathered data through questionnaires and in-depth interviews with respondents, according to the Shanghai Institute of Nutrition and Health of the CAS. "Our survey shows that 54 percent of the people in third-tier cities and 48 percent in second-tier cities have considered seeking hair treatment in hospitals," a researcher at the institute, Chen Daming, said. The report also shows that people born in the 1990s are more open to paying for hair care products and services and spend an average of 9,980 yuan ($1,400) a year on them.

Chen said a significant trend in the hair care industry is the rising demand for personalized and complete services. "About half of the respondents said they look for combined hair transplant and hair care services," Chen said. "And 66 percent said they will consider whether a medical institution offers postoperative services after hair transplant into their choice."

"The stereotype (刻板印象) of hair treatment (for baldness and other medical conditions) has changed, as some young women tend to undergo hair treatment to look more beautiful. Also, personalized services with good aesthetic taste are becoming increasingly popular," he said.

The report also said that hair health issues are now closely related to confidence, with 79 percent of the respondents saying they would opt for a hair transplant if they have bald spots or their hair loss worsens to the point of "ruining" their appearance. Given this trend, novel hair care technologies could emerge in the near future to meet the customized demands of consumers, Chen said.

The school gate was crowded with new students. Some were talking loudly, while others looked as nervous as I felt. When I entered my classroom, I chose a seat near the window. For a few minutes, nobody spoke to me. I felt a little lonely and wondered if the whole day would be this hard.

Then our headteacher came in. With a warm smile, she welcomed us and encouraged us not to be afraid of challenges. Her words gave me some courage. Soon it was time to introduce ourselves. My hands were wet with sweat, but I forced myself to stand up. I said my name, my junior high school, and even shared my interest in writing stories. To my surprise, several classmates smiled at me, and one girl said that she liked writing too. At that moment, I felt the ice breaking.

In the afternoon, we had our first physics experiment. I was not very confident, but I decided to take the first step. I suggested a method to my group, and though it was not perfect, it helped us finish on time. The teacher praised our teamwork, and my group members gave me a thumbs-up. A sense of pride replaced my earlier fear.

On the way home, I realized something important. The first day had not been easy, but because I tried to be brave and active, it turned out much better than I expected. A beginning full of effort and courage can light up the path ahead, making the days to come less frightening and more hopeful.

My dad got a new job. We had to pack up and move away from everything we were familiar with. There were so many changes. We came from the north, and now we were almost as far south as possible. We landed in South Florida, and we were total strangers. We moved over during the summer vacation, so I didn't have to deal with school right away. Summer passed by while we unpacked, arranged furniture, found stores we liked, and adapted to the Sunshine State.

School was coming, and I was afraid of it. I was not an adventurous person. Being shy and quiet, I read a lot and did not make friends easily. My head was filled with fears and worries. Would I make friends? Would If it in? Would I survive in this strange new world? Anyway, there I was, attending a new school full of people I didn't know.

I had a difficult time adapting to the new school. However, I still loved learning and reading. I even loved homework, and I was good at doing my homework. Loving books and reading helped me to get good grades. Teachers loved that about me. Other kids, though, did not. Although I always answered questions in class, I seldom talked with my classmates. I was unpopular. I felt like a total failure and nobody would like me.

The "Ocean Shapes" company makes these special kits. Each $15 set includes three toys that break down naturally and are shaped like sea turtles, starfish, and seashells, plus a small digging tool. Their website says: " Watch them return to the sea. This is how vacation memories should disappear." Bright green packaging shows children building a sandcastle that slowly disappears with the waves. "Every kit sold funds beach clean-up programs," says the company's boss, a former surfing star.

Sunshine Coast's white beaches attract millions yearly. Last year, volunteers picked up over 12 tons of rubbish left by visitors just during Christmas. Old plastic beach toys make up 40% of this waste, taking 500 years to break down. Broken tools often hurt sea animals that think they're food.

For twenty years, scientists have tried using seaweed instead of plastic. They boil seaweed into thick liquid, and then press it into shapes. Old versions had bad smells, but new methods remove them while keeping the material strong.

Mayor Tom Carter likes the idea but says, "We ask visitors to buy local honey or handmade hats. Our surf schools now offer seaweed toys for free to make less waste. If you buy them and they don't disappear fully, take the pieces away." Next summer, his team will add bright yellow seaweed recycling boxes shaped like dolphins on busy beaches.

Vera's workspace is nearly as tricked out as his bikes. Space is tight, so Vera prefers to work alone — though not for lack of volunteers. Then he pairs people up with the perfect new ride and watches them pedal away happily. His first giveaway saw six bikes go in under 30 minutes.

Now neighbors know him as the Bike Dude, and they keep him busy with a steady supply of bikes, helmets and locks to redistribute. The local farmers market collected 36 bikes at its first attempt. In addition to the adults and kids he meets at his "Free Bikes" events, eager customers come from local re-settlement agencies and other nonprofits. The groups provide Vera with the height, gender and age of a rider and he delivers a fitting bicycle to their door. He's happy to make the trip.

"When I was looking for bicycles, it was very expensive, so when he does this for people it makes them so happy," says Alashe, a 21-year-old refugee (难民). "It was one of my dreams to get a bicycle, and he helped me lose weight. So it's very very good". So far, more than 700 Silver Springers like him have new wheels to take the many where their feet can pedal, thanks to the bighearted Bike Dude.
