Chinese characters are so (amaze) that even many foreigners are crazy about them. For the past three decades, Richard Sears has been focused on one thing: telling many (story) behind Chinese characters. His interest in Chinese language and characters dates back to 1972, when he was a 22-year-old physics major in the USA.

He built a website in 2002 and named it Chinese Etymology (词源), provides visitors with opportunities to check the development of Chinese characters in a variety of forms for free. Because of this well-received website, he (become) Uncle Hanzi, a nickname (昵称) which was given by Chinese netizens.

In September, Sears set up (he) studio in Nanjing as part of the local government's plan to promote Chinese culture. Bullying is a big deal.

It is a big problem that affects lots of kids.Being bullied can make kids feel really bad, and the stress of dealing with it can make them feel sick. Bullying can make kids not want to go to school and make school a place of fear and can lead to violence and more stress for everyone.

When they pick on someone else, it can make them feel big and powerful. Some bullies come from families where everyone is angry and shouting all the time.

How to handle it?

As much as you can, avoid the bully. You can't go into hiding or skip class, of course. But if you can take a different route and avoid the mean kid, do so. Stand tall and be brave. When you're scared of another person, you're probably not feeling you are brave. But sometimes just acting bravely is enough to stop a bully.

Talk to someone you trust if you are bothered by a bully.Make a plan to walk with a friend or two on the way to school, recess, lunch, or wherever you think you might meet the bully.

Specializing in a sport raises expectations and may put too much pressure on young kids. Having a variety of experiences will keep children interested and motivated, and even make them enjoy sports without any pressure.

Multi-sports also allow kids to experience different roles. Being a goalkeeper in a football team is very different from being a point guard in basketball. Being exposed to baseball develops better hand-eye coordination (手眼协调). Soccer develops better footwork. Volleyball develops jumping and hand-eye coordination. Martial arts develop strength, mobility, and discipline (自制力). Swimming develops full-body coordination and strength. The list goes on and on! Participation in multiple sports broadens a child's developmental, social, and situational experience. It opens opportunities to become a better competitor and a promising athlete flexible and energetic.

Many sports superstars like Stephen Curry achieved their standing today by playing multiple sports. Curry played basketball, but he also played baseball, football, soccer and everything else in a sports buffet. What worked for Curry, experts say, could work for most of us.

Aside from developing a wide range of sports sill, more important, multi-sports provide opportunities for children to discover their liking. With the help of the right coaches, sports become fun, inspiring kids' interests. So if you can't decide whether your child should focus on one sport or try some different sports, I hope you can make a better decision now.

Adult pandas spend most part of the day eating bamboo and have to take in at least 40 pounds a day to stay healthy. However, a new study published in Nature and Climate Change warned that they may soon find their food gone because most of the bamboo in Qinling Mountains might disappear by the end of the century as a result of rising temperature worldwide.

A team made up of researchers from Michigan State University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences has studied the effects of climate change on the bamboo in Qinling Mountains. They have found that bamboo is very sensitive to climate changes. "80% to 100% of the bamboo would be gone if the average temperature increases 3.5 degrees worldwide by the end of the century." said Liu Jianguo, one of the report's authors. He added, "This is how much the temperature would rise by 2100 even if all countries will keep their promises in the Paris Agreement. But you know what is happening around the world."

In recent years, China has been trying its best to protect the endangered pandas by setting up more and bigger natural reserves.

"But it is far from being enough and the endangered pandas need cooperation from the rest of the world, because their future is not just in the hands of the Chinese," said Shirley Martin from World Wildlife Fund but not a member of the team.

The Qinling Mountains, in the southwest of China, are home to about 260 pandas. That is about 13% of the Chinas wild panda population. In addition, about 375 are living in research centers and zoos in China.
