51.It is clever of you  (seize) the opportunity.

I packed my luggage and headed for the airport. (fortune), it was raining hard when I arrived in Yangshuo just before dawn. But I didn't care. A few hours before, I'd been at home in Hong Kong,  its choking smog crowding the city. Here, the air was clean and fresh, even with the rain.

I'd skipped nearby Guilin,  tourists seek the limestone mountain tops and dark waters of the Li River which (picture) by artists in so many Chinese paintings. Instead, I'd headed straight for Yangshuo which also appears in many (literature) works. For those who fly to Guilin, it's only an hour away by car and offers all the scenery of the better-known city.

Yangshuo is really beautiful, even (refer) to as one of the top 10 tourist (attraction) in the world in a research report conducted by the website Trip Advisor. Thanks to the report, the town is fast becoming  popular weekend destination for people in Asia. Abercrombie & Kent, a travel company in Hong Kong, says it regularly arranges quick getaways here for people (live) in Shanghai and Hong Kong and  so far, it has received nothing but praise.

Ring! Ring! Ring! It was early in the morning. Though I knew who was 1 , I unwillingly reached for the telephone. I was a new supply instructor (代课老师) struggling to support my young family. Each morning I waited for a call that would take me to a different 2 that day. The last three of them had all been intended to 3 the teacher and see just how much bad4 he/she could deal with. I had responded by being 5 and angry with the students. I didn't really want to go to work that morning then, 6 since it was my birthday.

Still, I answered the phone and took the job. My family needed the money and I couldn't7 to be picky（挑剔的）. As I was driving to work, however, I decided that I was going to8 again to be the best teacher I could be. 9 school started, the students treated me as their former teachers and once again were ready to see what they could 10 . This time, though, I was still firm （严格的）but 11 with them. I did my best to make the lessons fun. I shared smiles, 12 their hard work, and encouraged their efforts. The effect was amazing. My uncontrollable classroom was soon13 . Students were laughing and learning and I finally felt like I was doing my job14 . I went home happily and enjoyed the rest of my birthday with my family.

Every day we are given another 15 to get things right, to live our lives with love and joy, and to make this world a better place. Every morning arises and begins once again to be the best of you.

Get plenty of sleep

The importance of sleep to your brain's health just can't be overstated. Ideally, you shouldn't ever be short of sleep, which can affect everything from your mood to your cognitive function.  You can do this by sleeping late, but you don't have to. Naps create big brain benefits, and the weekend can be a perfect time for napping .

Get outside

Spending time in nature benefits your brain and your general health. So unless the weather is really bad, plan for some time outdoors.  A park where you are surrounded by trees and other plants works too.

When you're working during the week, it may be hard to spend as much time socializing with friends and family as you might like. So spend some time during the weekend with people you care about most.

Do something fun that's outside your normal routine

This change requires creativity, but it may be the most enjoyable small change you can make. . That's because, when you break out of normal routine, your brain is awake and active. You'll remember that part of your weekend better, and you'll face the week with greater energy and creativity.

A new report connects eating eggs to an increased risk of heart disease. The results follow several earlier studies that found eating eggs was generally healthy. The study collects data from six other earlier studies. It shows a 6 percent increased risk of heart disease when the number of eggs a person ate each day increased by half an egg.

Norrina Allen, an associate professor at Northwestern University said that, in the United States, eggs are generally one of the top sources of cholesterol(胆固醇)in a person's daily food. People with higher levels of cholesterol in their food are at increased risk of the development of heart disease later in life. However, Allen added that she would not say that eggs are completely unhealthy. "I'm not saying that people should take them completely out of their food," she said. "I'm just suggesting that people eat them in a proper amount."

Some experts believe the new study does not prove that eggs are causing heart disease. "Cholesterol's role in the development of heart disease has been discussed for more than 30 years," said Bruemmer, an associate professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. "This study does have clear shortcomings, including self-reporting at a single time point," he added.

Bruemmer said, "Eggs in moderation are probably acceptable from a nutritional standpoint." "Moderation," he added, "is less than one egg a day, including eggs in foods such as bread".

Holly Andersen, a doctor at the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, agrees that the study has "real shortcomings". One problem Andersen has with the study is that a lot of the egg-eating people in the study also appeared to be eating much meat and processed meat. "If you're taking a lot of processed meat, it doesn't matter how many eggs you're eating," Andersen said.

Also, Andersen said, "The study can only show there is a relation between eggs eating and heart disease. But it cannot prove eggs are the cause of the disease. It may just be that people eating a lot of eggs are also taking a lot of bacon."

Chocolate could soon be a thing of the past after scientists' warning that the cacao (可可) plant, from which chocolate is made, could be extinct within 32 years.

Over half of the world's chocolate comes from just two countries in West Africa — Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana — where the temperature, rain, and humidity (湿度) provide the perfect conditions for cacao to grow. But rising temperatures over the next three decades caused by climate change are expected to result in a loss of water from the ground, which scientists say could upset this balance.

According to the related data, a temperature rise of just 2.1℃ could put an end to the chocolate industry worldwide by 2050. Farmers in the region are already considering moving cacao production areas thousands of feet uphill into mountainous areas — many of which are currently preserved for wildlife. But this move could destroy the ecosystems that are already under threat from illegal farming and deforestation.

One of the problems, according to Doug Hawkins, is that cacao farming methods have not changed for hundreds of years. "Unlike other tree crops that have benefited from the development of modern, high yielding strains and crop management techniques to realize their genetic potential, more than 90% of the global cacao crop is produced by small farms with unimproved planting materials," he said. "It means that we could be facing a chocolate decrease of 100,000 tons a year in the next few years."

Now scientists at the University of California, Berkeley have cooperated with American candy company Mars to keep chocolate on the menu. Using the controversial gene-editing technology known as CRISPR they are trying to develop a type of cacao plant capable of surviving in dryer, warmer climates. If the team's work on the cacao plant is successful, it could remove the need for farmers in West Africa to relocate to higher ground, and perhaps even allow cacao to be grown elsewhere in the world.

On the outside, 12-year-old Luna seems like your average kid. It's not until you get to know her that you learn that Luna is anything but average.

Born with a heart defect (缺陷)called dextrocardia, Luna has had three open-heart operations and continues to pursue her interests in art and fashion. But when Luna was approached by athletic shoe company Saucony to design a shoe for sale across the country, it came as quite a surprise.

"This is so incredible. I got to use my art and creativity for something new that I'd never thought I'd be able to design," Luna said. She is one of six patients from Boston Children's Hospital ( BCH) who have partnered with Saucony to design their own shoe to launch the Shoes with Soul campaign.

"Rather than just a donation, we wanted to create an experience and a moment that would not only raise money, but also awareness to highlight all the amazing work that's being done at BCH," says Chris, Saucony's vice president. "Specifically, we wanted to give some of the BCH kids an opportunity to share their story and their talents with the world. "

Luna's design is fashion. "On the tongue, they digitalized one of my drawings, and then on bottom it's a really bright pink color, and on the inside, the sole of the shoe is actually another drawing I did of a sunset," she said. "Thinking about kids everywhere around the world wearing my shoe is amazing. It blows my mind."

The income from the shoe sales will benefit the Boston Children's Hospital Cardiac Fitness Program, which encourages kids to "find your possible" through personalized exercise programs tailored for each individual patient's heart condition.

"It feels really good to help people and it's really something I can relate to," says Luna. "The advice I would give a kid or someone like me is never give up. There are a lot of kids out there with your condition and you're not alone."

Four Top Poetry Book Clubs

Poetry Talk

Founder Tim Burris leads Poetry Talk out of its location in Indianapolis, Indiana. Today, the book club has over 150 active members. It focuses on reading, sharing and discussing poetry. No matter what form of poetry you might be interested in, whether it is shorter poems or longer anthologies(选集), Poetry Talk is a place where you can meet others who also share an interest in poetry. Book club meetings happen every two weeks on a Wednesday evening, are held online, and always welcome new members.

The Living Poets Society Poetry Book Club

Run out of Boulder Bookstore, it is a book club where members discuss a shared book of poetry. People who are interested in poetry and connecting with individuals who also enjoy reading and having conversations about poetry are welcome. Book club meetings take place online on the second Tuesday of every month.

The club has looked at Constellation Route by Matthew Olzmann and Luxury by Philip Schultz. And the latter is the first one the club has shared.

Books to Change Your Life Chicago Book Club

The book club has been active since 2020 and now has over 1,000 active participants who read and discuss a range of different books, including poetry. In addition to enjoying engaging and insightful discussions about poetry, book club members can get to learn more about books of other genres(类型), including economics, philosophy and classic literature. Book club meetings are held online and take place weekly on Mondays.

The poetry the club has read includes Homer's classic The Odyssey.

Poetry Meetup

It is a great place for anyone interested in reading, talking about, or even performing poetry. Book club meetings are usually held once a month. Specific dates and locations of book club meetings are available on its Meetup. com web page.

The Sea and TheMirro by W. H. Auden and St. Sebastien by Dali are two poems that book club meetings at Poetry Meetup have gone over.

During the vacation, I undertook the challenge of learn a new skill: bicycling. I begin with the basic skills of keeping balance and pedaling and gradual improved my command of controlling and navigating.

I enjoyed me and felt the excitement of smoothly moving on two wheels. Beside, conquering my fears and building my cycling abilities led to a sense of achievements.

In the fact, mastering the skill of cycling reminds me the importance of perseverance, bravery and independence. All the qualities are that we need in our future development. Every daily experience enrich my life and connects me with like-minded individuals.
