2 days/2 nights-Alpine to Snowden.

 Price includes a canoe(独木), paddles, PFD and shuttles.

 Choose one of our campsites and set up camp. Catch the bus to Alpine the following day. Paddle 

9.5 miles back to your campsite. The following day paddle down the famous Balcony Falls.

2 days/1 night-Arcadia to WCC (Wytheville Community College).

 $ 60 per person

 Price includes a canoe, paddles, PFD, shuttles and camp fee.

Paddle 3 hours on the first day and camp in National Forest Paddle 3 hours on the second day back to WCC where your car is parked. Add $ 7 per person for a second night at our campsites.

2 days/1 night-Springwood to WCC.

 $ 70 per person

 Price includes a canoe, paddles, PFD, shuttles and camp fee.

 Paddle 4 hours on the first day and camp on private land. Paddle 5 - 6 hours on the second day back to WCC where your car is parked. Add $ 8 per person for a second night at our campsites.

3 days/2 nights-Buchanan to Snowden.

 $ 117 per person

 Price includes a canoe, paddles, PFD, shuttles and camp fee.

 Park your car in your spot. Load your luggage in our truck and then we set out for Buchanan. Paddle 3 hours to Breeden Bottom Campground, The following day paddle 6 - 7 hours back to WCC, where there is your campsite and your car. The following day you can play with water in the famous Balcony Falls.

My family moved into our home nine years ago.We live on a corner,and the entire side of the yard is enclosed(围住) by a 1 built rock wall.The front of the house,2 ,is another story,because instead of a rock wall along the sidewalk,the rocks appear to be just randomly 3 up onto the dirt(泥土).

We did the best we could and called this area our "rock garden".Whenever we had leftover flowers or plants,I would 4 them out front,just to bring some 5 to the area.

Last summer I reached the end of the rock garden and found a tiny little plant that I could not immediately 6 ,we didn't plant it.We decided to let it 7 growing until we could 8 what it was.

How to Control Weeds When Planting

No matter what you choose to grow in the garden,at some point,you will have to deal with unwanted plants,known as weeds. Even a tomato plant can become a weed if it grows where you don't want it to.

 Weeds can bring many problems.They steal nutrients and water.Weeds can also bring harmful bugs and diseases into your garden.Some weeds release chemicals that can slow the growth of nearby plants.

It is important to note that some weeds are not all bad.In fact,you can eat them.Dandelions(蒲公英) are also viewed as a weed by many people. And you can eat or use nearly every part of the plant.But even other weeds can do good things in our garden.The roots of weeds can prevent the soil from being blown away by wind or washed away by rain.

However,left to grow on their own,weeds can take over a garden.To slow the growth of weeds,add a layer of weed-free,organic material to the top of your garden,around the plants..

A simple and effective method of weed control is to break up the surface layer of the soil.But you must do this regularly.Do not turn the soil over. If you turn the soil over,you give those seeds the light and air they need to grow.Probably the best way to fight some weeds is to eat them! Just make sure they are,in fact,eatable.

Earth Day is April 22.Every year,people around the world observe the day by helping to care for the environment.They carry out all kinds of activities in an effort to better the planet's health.

One way to support this goal is to grow plants native to your area.This helps wildlife like birds and insects that evolved alongside native plants.For many of these animals,plant pollen(花粉) is their food.Native pollinators often cannot recognize non-native plants as food.This means they do not collect the pollen or spread plants' seeds.Planting non-native species creates so-called "food deserts" for pollinators including bees,birds,bats,butterflies and more.

Doug Taamy is a professor of entomology at the University of Delaware.Entomology is the study of insects.He found that non-native plant species can harm the natural food chain,which can lead to a collapse of the environment."Plant choice matters," he said."The plants we choose to landscape our properties should be determined by how much life can live there."

Humans depend strongly on insects.Without them,we would have no flowering plants,which would harm the food web that supports important animals.Birds,for example,depend on plants for food and spread their seeds while keeping the populations of harmful insects down.

Insects support plants that provide oxygen,clean our water,capture carbon and add nutrients to the soil.That builds topsoil and prevents flooding.Without insects,the biosphere—the living parts of the Earth—would rot because of the loss of insect decomposers.Humans simply could not survive that,Tallamy said.

In addition to providing food and habitat for insects and other wildlife,native plants are able to grow easily and do not require much care.That means less watering and less fertilizing.The situation is a win-win for gardeners and pollinators.
